Chapter 2
That morning, Ethan Antonio lay on the bed gazing at the large ambient light in his room.
The inundating cyclone surged through his heart, repeatedly ripping sleep off his sole-shaped eyes for nights, and he felt like giving up.
He would be 26 years old in a week, and it was suicidal for him.
His brow knitted as his gaze met with the document on the bed.
The inauguration of the next CEO of Sterling Group will take place a week from now. It was the same date as his birthday.
However, something deep was threatening his tranquility.
He took the document that was lying lifelessly on the bed and tore it open.
Running his hands deftly on the document, his soul curdled like spoiled milk and a fathomless gloom devoured him.
His parents wanted him to get a wife before he became the CEO of the company.
“ Damn! How devastating! “ He huffed.
How could he possibly get married in just a week? His parents were being unreasonable at this point, but he had no will.
It is either he gets married or withdraws from being the CEO.
He signed!
But suddenly, his phone beeped and he quickly dropped the document.
It was Uncle Wilbert Grantaz, his Uncle.
Trilled, Ethan quickly grabbed the phone to receive the call.
Uncle Wilbert was one of the closest relatives who had sincerely loved him as a son. He was always proffering solutions to Ethan’s unsolved problems.
Ethan and his Uncle spoke at length on the phone, and he assured his Uncle that he was about to leave the house for his appointment.
As the call ended, Ethan sank back on the bed. He almost forgot he had an appointment today with a lady his Uncle intended to introduce him to.
Thank goodness, Uncle Wilbert was his savior. He couldn't imagine life without Uncle Wilbert.
Although Ethan knew he would never love the woman that he would be meeting today, the fear in him was greatly assuaged.
Sure, he would present the lady to his parents, so he could become the CEO of Sterling Group.
Hopefully, she will get her parents' approval. His parents were desperate, so he and his Uncle conspired together and came up with a better plan.
He was an intelligent young man and his Uncle was shrewd on issues like that.
Marrying a total stranger can be deadly, but he had no choice. He was just going to marry her and take his inheritance from his parents.
A faint smile snickered his beautiful face as he gave the plan a thorough thought.
Not long,, the suppressing thoughts fled his heart, allowing him to breathe in sterile air one more time.
Exhilarating, he plodded to the bathroom to take a quick shower.
In the elegant washroom, Ethan kept scrubbing his flawless white skin till a part of his skin almost became crimson red.
Minutes later, he was out of the washroom looking more handsome with his bare muscular body.
Not willing to be late, he quickly wore his black tuxedo suit that was all-fitted on his body and permed his midnight black hair till it fell in a perfect form.
Gazing in the mirror, he smiled in satisfaction at how handsome he was.
Taking his cell phone, he called his driver to get his car ready.

At 8 am that same morning, Whitney was all seated in one of the visitor's rooms waiting for the arrival of the man she would be married to.
Reflexively, her gaze met with the mirror, and she was astonished by how transformed she had become.
She looked even more beautiful than she had ever imagined.
Earlier, she was taken to an elegant saloon to get her hair and makeup done.
Her boss also ordered his secretary, Ms. Evie Park to get her the best clothes and ensure she gets a nice pedicure and manicure treatment.
She needs to be presentable before the finest and richest young man in New York today.
As Whitney stood by the mirror, she kept nursing an unusual feeling deep down in her heart.
She doesn't know if she was traumatic or ecstatic.
The feeling of marrying someone and destroying all he had labored to get afterward was unthinkable.
She was befuddled. It seemed butterflies were rumbling in her stomach, yet she felt rueful deep down.
“ Forgive me, dear God, I'm a sinner today,” She said, almost brimming with tears.
Goodness, her exquisite makeup was about to get ruined by the agonizing trickle of tears.
Her man will arrive in no time.
What if he was so innocent, like some frail child in need of solace? Gosh!
“ Goodness! How can I carry out my mission? “ She kept soliloquizing in an agonizing voice.
She has gotten herself into trouble and the devil, her boss, is not too merciful to show her mercy at the moment.
Whitney wondered about the relationship between the two men.
‘ Why does he want me to destroy the life of the young man? ‘ She thought to herself.
Just as she was about to say something, the doorbell chimed.
Ding dong!
Whitney’s heart raced.
“ The door is open,” she said with a dry mouth.
The door opened slightly, and the horrible imp came in.
Whitney quickly got out of bed feeling frightened.
“ You look gorgeous, my princess,” he said sarcastically and chuckled.
With one finger, he thrust Whitney’s lowered chin up and whispered in a strangling voice,“ It’s time. Don't betray me… You will receive an alert of $80 billion right away, good luck! “
He gave a murderous shot at her and left the room.
Whitney exhaled and then carried her long pink French chi dress and slammed the door behind her.
Ethan was in the living room taking a glance at some artistic work.
Today will determine their fate.
Coming down, Whitney could hear the voice of her boss and a stranger, rumbling from the large living room of the mansion.
The other voice was calm and full of life. She guessed he was the one.
Ethan was sitting, giggling, when the old man asked him to look behind him.
Whitney Ney was standing right behind him in her best position, looking gloriously made. Her beauty cannot be compared with even that of Luna’s.
With a smile on his face, Ethan turned slowly in her direction.
As their eyes met, Withney opened her mouth and became cold on the spot.
The man she was about to destroy was the angel she had never dreamed of.
Screaming, she ran back down the stairs.
Her life is doomed!
