When Agnes mounted the wagon he was happy it was so easy. Little did he know that he’s being followed.
“Run faster young man.’’ Princess Flavia suddenly said.
“What?’’ Agnes asked. Just in time. There were movements behind them. There are about fifteen men on horses having their weapons in check and they also have fire touches also. Agnes braced up and whipped the horses making them run faster than usual but it was no match for the palace guards’ horses. Slowly the guards were catching up with Agnes.
Swoosh!
Swoosh!!
An arrow flew past Agnes head and another hit the wagon wheel. The wheel removed from the wagon instantly causing the wagon to slow down its pace and almost tumbled.
Agnes got off the destroyed Wagon and picked Princess Flavia up because she’s too weak to even get up on her own. He placed her behind a rock where the guards won’t have their eyes on her.
Agnes took up his sword and awaited the guards to come closer. Agnes swinged his sword violently and it cut the first guard’s wagon making the both of them tumble and fell to the ground hitting his head on a rock. He died instantly.
This enraged the other guards.
They got off their horses and charged at Agnes.
Agnes dodged their attacks and give one a kick in the stomach before slicing his throat. While another guard’s sword almost stabbed Agnes he used another guard as a shield and that one got his back cut open. He let out a painful cry before his body goes limp.
The guard that mistakenly killed the other one raged and charged again furiously. He was so blinded with rage that he stumbled on a body and tripped before falling to the ground, he didn’t have a chance to stand up before Agnes cut his head off.
Agnes fought with the remaining guards and killed everyone of them. He turned back to where Princess Flavia was but he stopped mid tracks when he heard horses moving closer to him. The horse riders doesn’t have fire torches thus he couldn’t see from far until they were near him. He quickly picked two fire torches and he threw one at the riders. They dodged it and moved closer to him. Agnes strike with his sword but was met with another. The two men dismounted from their horses.
One has white hairs and the other looks so young to be his son but judging by the clothes the younger man is wearing he should be from the royal family or a noble person.
One of the men picked a fire torch from the ground and spoke. “Drop your weapon and surrender. Your punishment will be lessen.’’ He said.
The other man was looking at the dead guards on the ground. His eyes wandering everywhere trying to search for Princess Flavia.
“Thaddeus get him now.’’ The other man barked an order at the older man whose name is Thaddeus.
“Just surrender now criminal. I won’t have to do it the hard way.’’ Thaddeus advanced slowly holding his sword high ready to strike.
Agnes also got into a defensive mode, the looks from the eyes of Thaddeus shows he’s no ordinary warrior. He is a very much high ranked one.
“Thaddeus.’’ A weak voice called. Thaddeus looked around and saw Princess Flavia looking at him with pleading in her eyes. She knows how experienced and fearless Thaddeus is, even though Agnes is a good and skilled warrior he still couldn’t compare to one who is been trained in the battle ground. Thaddeus great grandfathers pledged loyalty to Dafilio and his family. No matter how displeased and uncomfortable a task is he’ll always carry it out.
The younger man drew out his sword and pushed Thaddeus out of the way.
“I’ll tell my father what you did and you’ll be severely punished.’’ He faced Agnes drawing his sword up, “And as for you I’ll enjoy skinning you alive.’’
Princess Flavia gulped. Not only her but everyone in the country knows how ruthless Prince Sirius is. He once killed pregnant woman and her family because she mistakenly stepped on his foot. There was a time he started sleeping with people’s wives and anyone that tries to fight back and will be beheaded. Since then people doesn’t want to get on his bad side so they do all he want. Everyone dread the day he will be crowned king. Many wish not to witness the day, some even prayed to die before he is crowned.
The only person that doesn’t care about his cruelty is Thaddeus. No one in the entire kingdoms is as skillful as he is, only the King Marcel and it’s such a rare occasion before King Marcel flaunts his skills. King Marcel doesn’t want Thaddeus gone, his army would be without formation if they lose their commander.
Prince Sirius attacked and started fighting with him. Prince Sirius is also a skilled fighter who is trained by Thaddeus himself but there is a huge gap between them. Agnes did a back flip two times and make sure that his feet hit Prince Sirius’ chin. Prince Sirius lose his consciousness and staggered a bit. He shook his head trying to gain balance but he got a blow in the gut. He held his stomach in pains and tries to stand up but his body went limp as his head flies away.
Thaddeus eyes widened!
Princess Flavia gasped. Prince Sirius is beheaded. Thaddeus let out a cry of anger and rushed to Agnes to have a fair fight. He extended a powerful blow but was met with a kick in the chin. Agnes did another back flip and gave him a kick in the chest.
Thaddeus was surprised. No one has ever been able to even touch him when fighting excluding King Marcel and one other person.
Just in time rain started falling.
Thaddeus picked up his sword and waged it up to fight again until a lightning struck and he saw Agnes’ face. The surprise didn’t go unnoticed by Princess Flavia as she saw Thaddeus dropped his sword on the ground and go on his knees crying.
Princess Flavia ran to Thaddeus and asked what happened. Thaddeus couldn’t respond he just pointed to Agnes and another lightning struck again.
Princess Flavia hands flew to her chest, she retracted by two steps and sat on the ground.
Agnes was surprised.
He ran to Princess Flavia, “What happened?’’
He asked.
“What reall..’’
A horn blew and instantly many warriors surrounded them. Agnes picked up his sword but blew out a breath of relief as he recognizes Amelitia, Master Kaeman and few of the warriors.
Amelitia and Master Kaeman approached them. They immediately bow to Princess Flavia.
“We are at your service your highness.’’ Everyone else bowed except Agnes.
“You can stand now Kaeman. Everyone.’’
Everyone stood up.
“What I really want to know is who is this young man that rescued me.’’ She asked pointing at Agnes who has Amelitia in his arms but was also confused how Princess Flavia reacted after seeing his face.
Master Kaeman bowed slightly “Your highness you know it. It’s the truth.’’
Agnes quickly cut in. “What is happening here? Why is everyone looking at me like I’m some criminal.’’
“Son..Agnes do you know who you are?’’
Princess Flavia asked.
“Yes. Why are you asking?’’
“Because that’s not who you really are.’’ Master Kaeman cut in.
“Why do you say that?’’ He asked.
“You have the face of a great person on this land. One of the greatest people to have walked this earth. This country’s supposed King until Marcel stole it.’’
“You are my son Agnes. I named you that. You were taken from me the day I gave birth to you.’’
Agnes disengaged the embrace his having with Amelitia and took a step back to look at everyone.
“I don’t get what all of you is saying. As far as I know I’m Agnes Rock. I came here.. I.. I climbed some stupid mountain to get here. Why is everyone acting like they know me all my life when I haven’t been here up to a week.’’
Thaddeus stood up and sighed.
“You want to know what happened?’’
He asked.
“Yes.’’ Agnes answered.
“This is going to be a long story.’’ Thaddeus started.
“What really happened....’’
