---POV Jackson---
I slammed into one of the old classrooms with Prince Issac in toe, doing his best to hold in his laughter. Honestly, sometimes I wished he would have stayed at the prep school. Why he decided it would be fun to ‘tag along to our territory,’ as he put it, is beyond me. “You called her our ticket to our title?! What the f*ck is wrong with you?!” I shouted, shoving my hands into Lucas’s chest. At this moment, he was just as bad as Brenden and that was saying something! He slammed into the desks behind him and immediately stood to his feet, ready for the challenge.
“What the hell are you even talking about?!” Lucas growled.
“She won’t even look at us because she thinks we’re going to be just as disgusting as Duston’s beta!” I shouted back. I will not lose my baby girl because of these idiotic brothers of mine!
“Okay back up. What does your spineless cousin have to do with this?” Issac asked, enjoying the show. Sometimes I wonder if he really is our best friend.
“Two years ago, there was a rumor going around that the future beta of the Diablo Pack named Joshua found his mate early.” Lucas said, cutting his eyes toward Issac. “His mate…was Ophelia.”
“Oh really?” The prince’s beta, Thomas, waltzed into the room with a grin on his face. “Now this is getting interesting. I guess it was a good idea to tag along.”
“Not to mention it’s the same girl we ran into when the six of us transferred here.” The prince added.
“Enough! That’s beside the point. The main problem is the fact that the piece of sh*t rejected her in front of half the school and she ran away from him and her pack. Now she doesn’t want anything to do with us because we were a*sholes as children.”
“I’m sure that’s the least of it. I don’t think she wants us because we are going to be alphas, and she’s had enough dealing with those in leadership. She’s probably the first girl we’ve met that doesn’t want anything to do with titled wolves.” Mason added as he grumbled over his fries.
“I think you mean entitled.” I added.
“Then let her get what she wants. I’m not going to grovel for some omega who used to clean my cousin’s toilets. She’s not even from a reputable pack. The only reason that pack still runs is because its alpha is our mother’s half-brother.” Brenden growled.
I couldn’t help it. My wolf was out to play faster than I could register it happening. I slammed him against the wall and barred my teeth at the youngest of our lot. “Woah, Jackson! I know this was a surprise to all of us but fighting with each other is not going to give us the solution we all want.” Mason said. I could tell he no longer cared about his meal. He was now slowly approaching us.
Brenden laughed and shook his head. “You mean what you three want. I want to reject her. Hell, even Vanessa would be leagues better than her and she can speak. I finally got back on good terms with her and I’m not going to let her go for some weak little runt.” Brenden snapped.
That’s it! I slammed my fist into Brenden’s face and didn’t stop until Lucas and Issac yanked me off of him. Mason stood in between me and Brenden trying to hold his jaw in place. I hope I broke it. “That’s enough Jackson!” Lucas called.
“The one who shouldn’t speak should be Brenden. If he doesn’t have anything polite to say, I don’t want to hear it. How can you even attempt to compare her to a wh*re that keeps your bed warm when you’re bored?!” I shouted.
Brenden spit his blood on the floor and darted his eyes toward me. “I don’t want someone else’s leftovers.”
I rolled my eyes and yanked Lucas off of me. “Neither does she! She can smell Vanessa on you, you d*ck!” I adjusted my shirt and saw a glimpse of worry in his eyes before it completely vanished. I scoffed, giving up on the i***t. “Better yet, I don’t want a piece of s**t for a brother. I guess we are all out of luck. I got to go find Ophelia. You can do whatever the hell you want except mess this up for me. She’s mine and I will kill anyone who thinks it wise to hurt her ever again! Especially you!” I shouted before turning on my heels and leaving the room in search for my little mate.
“Wait Jackson! I’m coming with you.” I turned to see Mason and I couldn’t help the smirk that followed.
“Where’s Lucas?” I growled.
“He said he didn’t want to overwhelm her. He’s going to deal with Brenden while I make sure you stay calm. Issac and Thomas are in there as well…just in case it gets heated again.”
“It will if Brenden is involved. He never thinks anything through. Lucas isn’t off the hook either. Ticket?! Seriously?!” I snapped back.
“Lucas and I never told her she was a ticket…per say. I think she came to that conclusion on her own. You know I’d never say that to my mate.”
“Does it matter? She shouldn’t have to think that way. We should be there to remind her that she is perfection. Always.”
“And we will, brother. Promise. We will. I’ll even apologize to her without question. I didn’t think that was going on in her mind this whole time. I can’t believe I didn’t notice.”
“Alright then. First, we have to find her.” I added when I noticed that her scent was fading between all the others mixed in with hers.
“I think I know where to find her.” Mason finally said after we walked in silence for a few minutes. I nodded and followed his lead until we made it to the library. Of course. Why didn’t I think of that?
The minute we walked in, the librarian darted her eyes our way as her glasses slid down her pointed nose. “Anything I can help you two with?” She asked accusingly.
“Not today. Thank you. We know what we are looking for.” Mason called to her quietly.
She hesitated before nodding and looking back on her computer. “Alright. I hope my library stays silent.” She responded curtly.
We both nodded and I made sure not to respond to her accusations. I darted through the aisles of books until we found what we were looking for. Her. My sweet dose of warm cinnamon passed by my nose as I sped past an enclave next to the large windows. I spun around immediately, and the sight warmed my heart more than I thought possible. Her small frame was nestled in a beanbag chair finishing off the last bit of her pizza while she swung her legs back and forth. She’s so tiny!
Her brow furrowed when she looked at her laptop and then relief flooded her features as she vigorously typed away on the keys. “Are we just going to stand here?” Mason asked.
I shook my head and took a step forward before my body froze at the thought of her re…rejecting us again. “I’m not sure to be honest. The last time I talked to her, she didn’t even want to look at me.”
“Yeah, that was rough but if the last two weeks taught me anything, it’s this. If we don’t keep trying, we already failed.”
I looked him over and he seemed almost as hesitant as I was. What are the odds that a little omega would become our kryptonite? “Let’s do this.” I turned back to our little jewel and slowly walked up to the welcoming reading nook. “Hey, do you mind if we sit with you?” I asked quietly, and she darted her face up to study ours. It went from shock to disbelief and finally landed on…unreadable.
“Why did you come looking for me?” She asked as her hands sped quickly in front of her. Right, she uses ASL and linking because of the humans.
“Because…I want to talk to you about what you told me. I’m so sorry my i***t brothers made you even think that we wanted to use you. We would never use you in any way.” I begged.
“We want you as our mate, not just for our title. We would get it anyway when we turn twenty-five if we couldn’t find you. I just want you. That’s it. I’m sorry we made you think that way.” Mason added.
She let her hands fall and stared at us for a moment before closing her laptop. “You…alphas…are going to apologize…to me? An omega.” She asked in awe.
“Yes. Of course we are! We did something wrong so It’s up to me to fix their problems.” I noted curtly.
“Not cool Jackson.” Mason grumbled shortly. “I don’t think I need anyone to fix my mistakes but if Jackson didn’t say anything, I never would have noticed my blunder.”
“Okay.” She responded before pulling a book onto her lap.
“Okay?” I asked expectantly.
“Yes. There is nothing else to say. I know you didn’t mean it. If there was one thing I’m really good at, it would be picking out liars. So, the one thing I can say in response to your apology is okay.” She added before searching for something in her history textbook.
“Are you doing homework?” I asked, genuinely curious.
She raised a brow and nodded. “Is there something wrong with getting started on my homework early? I have work after school most days and today is Jeremy’s football game. I don’t have time to start this outline then.”
“Oh, of course not. It’s completely fine. To do…AP World History right now?! Woah. Can you tutor me?! How do you remember all of those dates?!” I asked, plopping myself right next to her while my wolf howled in glee at her scent.
She jumped backwards and bit her lip, darting her eyes from me to my brother. “I…I don’t think I’ll be much help.”
“Upon contrary belief, he isn’t the best at history. I suck at chemistry and Lucas may sound like a smart*ss, but essays are his Achilles heel.”
“That’s only three of you.” She said. “Wh-what about…um….” Oh no, she was thinking about that i***t again.
“Who? I don’t know anything about having a fourth brother and you shouldn’t worry about him either.” I grumbled and she blushed.
“Y-you can’t just forget you have a brother, Jackson.” She added with a small giggle. My eyes lit up at the sound and I shook my head quickly, shooting up to my feet.
“Oh yes I can! If he made you feel sad, he’s dead to me.”
She turned her large green eyes up to Mason and I. The sparkles in them looked like emeralds. I never noticed how gorgeous they were against her caramel skin and wavy black hair. “I don’t want you to fight with each other. Not over someone as worthless as me.”
“Well, thanks to Jackson, that is already going to happen, so don’t let it worry you so much. We fight each other all the time. Especially where Brenden is concerned. We tend to be pretty stubborn, but it’s never about the same things.”
“Oh, so you guys are like real siblings. That’s pretty cool. I always thought you four would be a thick as thieves.” She hummed, closing her book and I grinned. Finally…I think we got her attention.
