(Vals’ POV)
Pretending to submit to Alpha Mark is hard, but when he did what he did at the ball something inside of me broke and I actually submitted. I have never submitted in my life but I did then. I still remember that evening and I hate Alpha Mark with every fiber in my body. Since then though I have seen a side of him I never knew existed, he has been kind to me. Allowing me free reign in the territory, no beatings, no abuse, no rude remarks and he has stopped trying to control me, instead he asks my opinion of things and acts like he cares. But that is all it is, an act so that when I don’t see it he can hurt me worse than he ever has before to make sure I really am broken.
Alex and I have been planning on escaping, I am worried though that Alex will not come with me. But even if he does not, he promises me that he will go to Xander and ask for help to break the bond that binds him to Alpha Mark. That is something I never knew, an alpha bond can be broken easily by a pack member by either side stating that they reject the pack or the alpha rejects the member, but if a wolf turns a human then the human is bonded to the wolf but cannot be commanded. However, if an alpha wolf turns a human then the human basically becomes a slave to that alpha as nothing can break the bond between them. If a human is turned then they do not gain a wolf, that is superstition, but they are able to mind link, have super speed, hearing and strength. They cannot have a wolf because the mood Goddess never created them, therefore she could not gift them a wolf counterpart.
The plan is in three days’ time, Alex will cause a commotion on the West side of the territory which will give me enough time to grab the backpack already hidden by one of Alex’s friends on the East side of the territory, there will be a window of about ten minutes maximum before anyone figures out that it is a distraction. In those ten minutes I need to make it as far to the East of the territory as possible, if not make it out of the territory. I am already planning on being in the garden that day, which will cut the distance short by about three quarters of a mile. It’s not an elaborate plan or an amazing plan, it’s quite simple but it should work. Once we are out of the territory, we then have to figure out how to break the bond between Alex and Mark.

Three days later
“FIRE! FIRE!” An omega shouts, the guards near me tense up, wondering what the threat could be to the pack.
“Quick, go help them!” I tell them. They look at me like I’m crazy. “I’m heading there myself but you are faster, please help them. I’ll catch you up.” I can see the struggle in their faces, they don’t want to leave me and disobey their alpha but they want to help their pack mates. In the end, luck is on my side as they take off in the direction of the fire, looking back to see if I am coming. I run in their direction until they disappear in the woods then I quickly turn around and run as fast as I can to the East of the territory, grabbing my hidden backpack in the process. About five minutes later Alex catches up with me, picks me up bridal style while we are both running and runs faster. I cling on to Alex as he tries to get to the boundary line before we are caught, I look back and see three wolves running at us, Alex must have noticed them too as he starts to speed up.
Just as one lunches at us and almost gets us, we pass over the boundary. We both let out a breathe neither knew we were holding. A growl shakes the surrounding trees and I turn around in Alex’s arms expecting to see a wolf lunge at me, instead I see Ryan, one of the warriors who actually treated me kindly, standing in-between us and the rest of the pack. It dawned on me then that Ryan was covering my escape. With one last look behind him at me, he gives me a small smile before lunging into a battle with four other wolves. Alex then quickly starts running again, he came to a stop in front of a silver Ford Fiesta. He opened the passenger door, sat me down and buckled me in. Alex then gets into the driver side and floors it, I have never been in a car that goes from 0-60mph in seconds but I can now tick that off of my bucket list.
We both turn as we hear howling behind us and then the sounds of numerous footprints. The wolves could not cross as we are currently not in their territory but they are staying close for if we do. I just hope that wherever Alex is taking me we do not need to cross into Alpha Marks’ territory again.
After what felt like hours, it was only 45 minutes, Alex brings the car to a stop outside of the local train station, situated in neutral territory from the looks of it as the wolves from Marks’ pack had stopped following a while ago. I just hope that Ryan survived.
