Chapter 19- She has returned

550 Words
Xander POV I am currently sitting in a pack meeting with my beta and gamma about the border patrol, defense teams and the new medical unit that is about to be built within the pack. We already have a hospital but have decided to extend into a general doctors for any minor ailments rather than going to the hospital. All of a sudden this feeling of unease settles over me, almost as if something major is about to happen today. “Sorry David, please could you repeat what you last said? I got distracted” My Beta David gives me a weird look. Whenever I am in a meeting I am always focused solely on the meeting, except a few years ago when I found Val. “Alpha, are you ok? You look a little unsettled” “Yeah, just had an intense feeling of unease come over me. Almost as if something is going to happen today. No idea why though as can’t think of a reason for it.” I motion for the meeting to continue. A little while longer and the meeting has finally finished. I give a sigh of relief. I then head out to the border patrol building, I want to get a report from the most recent patrol as that may be why I have this uneasy feeling. “Hey commander, any news from the recent patrol?” I ask while walking into the border patrol hub. “Not really alpha, nothing out of the ordinary has happened.” “Huh, really?” “Yes alpha.” Huh, so the feeling doesn’t have anything to do with the border patrol, then what could it be? I spend a few minutes speaking to commander before heading back to the pack house to get the keys for my car and heading into the garage. Today is my turn to go pick up Amy from high school. Amy is my annoying younger sister who is both adorable and the devil reincarnated. When Amy is happy and bubbly she is the best person to hang with, but the minute she gets angry I swear that girl can make an alpha wolf cower just from her glare. I jump in my car and pull out of the garage. The unsettling feeling still won’t leave me. I have checked everything that could possibly be causing this feeling but I just cannot work out why I can’t feel at ease. I pull up just down the street from the high school, I start to think about popping to the local café but then I see Amy leaving the school gates and starting to head my way. I quickly get out of the car and walk toward her. Amy runs up to me and I pull her in for a big hug. I then feel eyes on me, but my wolf is not growling and I don’t feel on edge so I’m guessing that they person who is watching me is friendly. Amy then gets off me, and I start to ask her what she wants for tea, but I am only slightly listening as I turn around and I cannot believe my eyes. No wonder I have been on edge all day. I mind link my pack, excitedly. She is back!
