Chapter 20- The Missing Luna

Xander POV

Val went missing a few years ago. Last I heard she had headed back to Medway and then hid from her father. I had a huge investigation done, the results of which surprised even me, but we all still wanted to protect her.

It turns out the Val is the daughter of a top Mafia boss in Medway who sold her to Alpha Mark due to the huge gambling debt that his gang had amassed with the neighboring gang. Her father had sold Val to Alpha Mark for protection against the other gang.

Alpha Mark then took her back to his territory where he proceeded to abuse her, his whole pack joining in on the abuse of an innocent young girl. She then escaped and came into my territory where I then lost her again. Last I had heard, she found another mate back in Medway.

I had felt when she got mated and marked to another, but it wasn’t the pain of betrayal, rather as if I finally felt complete. It was then that I realized that Val had found another mate and we were destined to share Val between us.

When my pack heard about Vals past, they still wanted her as their Luna, even when her mating with another werewolf was discovered. The pack had fallen in love with Val after she had given herself up to protect them.

I sigh, laying my head in my hands. I had seen her today, she looked so happy but what was she doing with Xavier? I had smelt his scent around her, it only left when she left so she must have met up with him. Xavier is currently the alpha of rogues which have been testing our defenses for the past few months. They never hurt any of our pack members and always leave before any violence ensues but still, what are they up too?

Xavier is known to be ruthless. The rogues only follow him because they have no other choice as he made them which is impressive. Not much is really known about Xavier. He once belonged to a pack somewhere in South East England but it was destroyed when he was still a pup. Nothing was heard regarding him until he showed up here a few months ago.

I wonder what he did with Val. I know that Val could not harm anyone, at least not in the past and she doesn’t have the violent aura that starts to emanate from a violent being, therefore their business must have been about something else. But what?

The pack decided after Val left they wanted Val to become the Luna of this pack. They found out that she was my mate when she gave herself up, I went into a deep depression when I had heard that she had escaped and ran away. A part of me was glad because she would then be safe away from Alpha Mark, but the fact that she ran away and didn’t come to me hurt. That was until the attacks from Alpha Mark stopped, and I realized that she had left in order to protect the pack.

I found out a few months later that the pack had secretly been looking for Val and followed any lead that they could find, but nothing ever came of it. Until today, the pack felt like they were about to throw a party just over the good news that she was back.

I decide that before I approach Val I first need to find out why she is back.

“Luke, can you come to my office please?”

“Of course Alpha.” Luke is my head warrior and the greatest man I know, he has stealth and is always successful on any mission, he is the best man for this particular job.

There is a knock on my door.

“Come in”

The door opens to reveal Luke, he is tall and well-built with obvious muscles. He is only a year older than me with brown eyes and blonde hair.

“What can I do for you Alpha?”

“Down to business already, no small talk first?”

“Just had a nightmare training session” Luke sighs while sitting down in the chair.

“The pup still giving you a run for your money?”

“Yeah, the pups just don’t want to learn. I have even tried to make it more fun but nothing. They just ignore me. Anyway, what did you call me for?”

“As you know Val is back, I want you to watch her. It’s a two barreled mission, I want you to report to me where she goes, who she sees and what happens but I also want you to protect her. Are you willing to do that?” I ask Luke if he wants to as many would not want to spy on their future Luna.

Luke thinks about it for a few minutes before replying. “Yes Alpha, I will do it. Mainly because I want to make sure she is safe. But why do you want me to watch her Alpha?”

“Both for her protection, but also because I want to know more before I approach her again.”

“I will start now Alpha.” Luke gets out of the chair and leaves my office, bowing before he closes the door.

I want Val to be safe but I also don’t want Mark to know about her still being my mate. But now that she is back, permanently or temporarily, I cannot stop the smile that comes to my face. Hopefully she will stay and choose me as well as her other mate. I don’t want to make her choose, after all the Mood Goddess gave her both of us.

Once I find out who her other mate is, I will reach out and speak to him. We may be able to come together and bring Val the happiness that she so truly deserves.

I watch Luke leave our pack grounds.
