Chapter 14- Date Part One

2177 Words
Before heading off to Norfolk (Vals’ POV) Today is a year since Johnny and I officially began dating and being a couple. I cannot believe a year has passed already, it has gone so fast. I am finally happy in life, I have a home, a fantastic job and business and to top it all off the man of my dreams. I sometimes find myself thinking about Xander but I then put them thoughts to one side, that is a part of my life that I can never explore. A part of me wishes that Xander was here too, but having two Greek Gods is being greedy and besides I don’t think I could handle two men, even if both say I am their mate. I smile at my reflection, two ladies offered to help me get ready yesterday and my friends but I wanted to do it myself. I may not be a fashion and makeup expert but I know what suits me, I have selected a pair of black denim shorts with a grey tank top which is short at the front and longer at the back. I will be adding my thin leather jacket to complete the outfit, but it will be on my bag as it is too hot to wear it until evening time. I have put the top half of my hair into a bun and then curled the remaining hair and left it loose to add a soft touch to the outfit. I have accessorized with bracelets, rings, small necklace and knee high punk boots. I am brought out of my thoughts by the doorbell going, I run from my bedroom and open the front door to the most beautiful sight. Johnny stands in front of me in black dress trousers, a dark navy blue shirt with the sleeves rolled up and the top two buttons undone with his hair perfectly styled. He takes my breath away. “You are breath taking” Johnny compliments me while handing me a bouquet of purple and white roses, I squeal in delight as they are my favorite flowers and colors. I half hug Johnny half protect my flowers before inviting him in. Johnny stands watching me as I place the flowers in a vase, both engaging in small talk before Johnny let me know what is on the agenda for the day. Once the flowers have been neatly arranged in the vase, Johnny grabs my hand and walks me out of my home and towards the woods over the road. I then watch in awe as Johnny turns into Xavier, the process so quick and fluid. I stand there, covered by the trees stroking Xavier. It was not only mine and Johnnys anniversary but also Xavier and mine anniversary too. Xavier licks my face from jaw bone to hair line, he then crouches down and motion with his head to his back. “You want me to climb on? Really?” Xavier nods his head enthusiastically. I hesitatingly climb onto Xavier’s back, worried that I may harm him or be too heavy. No sooner than I am in place than Xavier jumps up and runs through the woods. The feel of the wind on my skin is amazing. I almost feel sad when Xavier slows down until I look around the meadow that Xavier has taken us too. The grass is so green, the trees surround the meadow in a circle shape and there is a small stream flowing through the middle of the meadow, it looks like something from a hidden world. We spend the next few hours together, Xavier stayed at first with me cuddled up into his side while he laid his head on my lap as I scratched his ear. Then he turned back into Johnny, we walked around the meadow and played in the stream until hunger got the better of us. Johnny then produced a picnic basket that held all different types of pastries and sandwiches. Once they were finished off Johnny stood up. Johnny holds out his hand to me, “come one, there is one more surprise for you baby.” I take hold of Johnnys’ hand and he pulls me up. He then turns into Xavier who crouches down again, I climb onto his back before Xavier heads of towards the middle of the woods and the pack house. I am curious as to what these two have planned, today has been amazing so far which makes me feel bad because I only had a gift for him, which although he loved doesn’t seem like enough now. I had gotten Johnny VIP front row seats to his favorite boxers’ fight which is to take place next year in New York before the tickets sold out. Johnny was over the moon with the tickets, even though he found them last night so ruined the surprise. Just as we get to a patch where the trees become spacious, a wolf jumps out from behind a tree and aims to hit Xavier. Xavier must have noticed him as we dodged the hit, Xavier then took off at such a fast pace that I struggled to hold on. This wolf must be a rogue, otherwise Xavier would not be in danger and he would not have run, I feel bad knowing that he only ran because of me. Just then I am thrown into the air and my back hits a tree as the rogue runs into Xavier’s side. I then see that Xavier is in danger, the rogue slowly encroaching on Xavier, playing with him. Xavier is an alpha wolf so the injury must be serious for him not to be fighting back. I decide I cannot take anymore and I run towards Xavier, standing in front of him to protect him from anymore attacks. The wolf grabs my arm and bites hard, earning a scream from me before he throws me behind him. Xavier is trying to get up but he is unable to coordinate his legs. Ok, it’s down to me to take down this wolf. Over the past two years I have not just been idle, I have worked at mastering loads of different weapons in order to protect myself, I know that against a wolf I can never beat them physically due to being a lot smaller than them but weapons can cause enough damage to them to give me an opening to either finish them off or to run to safety. It’s time to put my new skills to the test. I stand up and brush myself off, grabbing the two knives out of my boots that I always keep hidden in them. I hold a knife in each hand, each knife on its own is small and will not cause much damage but I made sure that the blades are made of silver therefore they should cause some damage to make this fight a bit more even. The rogue rushes at me, I turn and run towards the tree, jumping at the last second and using the trunk of a tree as a spring board to leap over the wolf. As I go over the wolf I reach out a hand and one of the knives slice into the back of the wolf. The wolf howls in pain before turning around and making another grab at me, I quickly dodge his attack and reply with one of my own, aiming the knife at his face. I graze his fur but do not cause any cuts. The wolf looks at me, sizing me up before he slowly stalks towards me. I watch his movements, waiting for him to come within reach. Once he does I quickly make a dive, as I go under him I throw my arms out and use the knife to stab his two front legs. Another howl leaves the wolf before he licks his wounds. He then comes at me again, this time not giving me time to recover, he tosses me up into the air and I land on my back with a loud thud, earning a loud groan to escape from my lips. The wolf then rushes at me again, I know that I cannot move so I do the only thing available to me, I grab the blade of my knife and I throw it at the wolf, the knife hits the wolf in the side. The wolf stumbles before it falls over. It remains still for a few minutes I begin to think I may have killed it before it jumps up, I start to tremble as I have only one knife left and it will not do much damage, but then the wolf surprises me by running into the woods and disappearing. I stay where I am for a few seconds, waiting for the wolf to return. Once I know he is not going to return, I stand up and rush over to where Xavier lands and he turns back into Johnny. I land on my knees and skid to a halt, worry washing over me as I look at Johnny for any injuries. I look up and see amusement in Johnny’s eyes, which is quickly replaced with anger and worry. “Val, where the hell did you learn to fight? I thought we had agreed you would not do training with the pack?” “I did not do training with the pack, I spent some of my spare time over the past two years learning to master weapons and different forms of fighting and self-defense. I always promised myself that I would never allow anyone to take me as easily as they did two years ago. I only hit the wolf with the basics, that’s why he got away. I should have done better” Johnny pulls me into him, “I am not pleased that you snuck off to learn to protect yourself but I am proud of you. You are an amazing fighter, even if you do not know it.” Turns out that Xavier and Johnny are not harmed, they were just dazed from hitting the tree with such force, the tree had fallen down and it was a big oak tree therefore the force was huge. I am just glad that Xavier and Johnny are ok. “Val, please stop fussing over us, we are ok. We only got dazed after the rogue hit us into the tree the second time. We are fine. Now, let me look at you.” Johnny twirls me around, his eyes taking in every cut and bruise I sustained. I probably look worse than I am, it didn’t help that I am only wearing shorts and a tank top which do not offer much coverage when fighting but does allow me better movement as I just found out. I try to stop Johnny from walking around me and moving me around to examine me but he just keeps shushing me, eventually I stop protesting and let him do his thing. “Sorry Val, I know I am making you uncomfortable but I am so protective over you, you know that. I worry about you because I love you.” I smile at Johnny, every time he tells me he loves me I cannot believe it. He is so perfect, always turning heads wherever he goes but he holds me in such high esteem. Even when he is dressed in his business attire and I am in my gothic look he holds my hands tightly and walk with his head held high with me into his office. He once told me that he does not care what I wear, he just loves that I am with him. Johnny then grabs my hands and walks with me the rest of the way back to the pack house. Once we arrive he drags me to a building that looks brand new, with automatic doors and it is so shiny and white. White…… “Oh hell no! Johnny you are not taking me to the hospital!” I shout, people near turning their heads to look at me and then bowing. “Yes I am”. Johnny does not relent, even when I dig my heels in to try to stop myself from being moved. “There is nothing wrong, I have some cuts and bruises nothing major. Please, they must be busy in there, let’s not disturb them.” I try to reason. After a few more persuasive arguments Johnny relents and changes direction, we begin to head back the way we came. We are heading towards the pack house where I see some people hanging out and others heading there. This is common as the pack house is massive and acts as a sort of community hub. Once Johnny has got me close to the backyard he places his hands over my eyes so I cannot see and continues to guide me with his body until we come to a stop.
