Chapter 3 Car crash with amnesia

1789 Words
Blake started the car and drove off while Eliza couldn’t help but yawn. Meanwhile, at the top floor of the landmark building, the CEO office of the Mafia Group was enveloped in a tense atmosphere. "Mr. Coleman, I've hired the best detective agency in the city, but we couldn't find anyone named Miss Poppy. It must be an alias. Finding her with just a name is nearly impossible..." "Bang—" Aaron Coleman threw a crystal ashtray, shattering it. "Useless! I don't care what it takes, find that woman for me." "Yes, sir!" Aaron's subordinates knew his temper well. If they didn't comply quickly, they'd face severe consequences. "Get moving!" Aaron barked, and his underlings rushed out of the office. Aaron placed his hands on the desk, his eyes cold and determined. "That woman… I'll find you. You're the first and last to pay me after a night together. You had the nerve to do that, now face the consequences!" In the car, Eliza rubbed her ears, which felt hot and buzzing. Night fell quickly. Eliza, clad in a leather outfit, appeared at the International Hotel. Tonight, Andrew was attending a gala here. Tonight, she had to eliminate Andrew! Two hours later, as Andrew spoke at the center of the venue, a bullet pierced his forehead, killing him instantly. Panic erupted in the hall as Andrew collapsed. Eliza shed her leather jacket, revealing a sleek black dress, and mingled with the fleeing crowd. She left the hotel without a moment's delay. As she exited the International Hotel and took a breath of fresh air, a male voice called out behind her, "Miss, please wait. There's been a murder inside; we need your cooperation." Eliza paused, then slowly turned around. Seeing only two men, she knew she could handle them easily. Feigning fear, she said, "Oh no, a murder inside? That's so terrifying, so terrifying..." As they approached to question her, she struck swiftly, knocking them out. She swiftly made her way to her parked sports car in the underground parking lot opposite the International Building. Crossing the street, a bright light suddenly shone on her. A speeding car approached, moving as fast as an F1 race car. Eliza had no time to dodge; the car hit her, sending her flying. Her body spun through the air before crashing heavily to the ground. The screeching of brakes pierced the night. The speeding car finally came to a halt. The driver, realizing he had hit someone, was terrified. He had been speeding on the CEO’s orders! He glanced at the back seat, his voice trembling, "Mr. Coleman... I hit someone. What should I do..." Aaron Coleman, sitting in the back, slowly opened his eyes. Despite having been drinking, his expression remained calm even after the accident. "Get out and check if she's dead. If she is, it's no problem." Hearing Aaron's words, the driver felt slightly relieved. With their boss's power, they could cover up an accident. The driver got out and approached the body lying ten meters behind the car. His fingers shook as he checked Eliza’s breathing. Her head lay on a large brick, likely hitting it as she fell. Blood pooled beneath her head. After checking her breathing, the driver quickly returned to report, "Mr. Coleman, it’s a young woman. She’s still breathing..." Aaron’s eyes darkened. Compelled by some unknown feeling, he got out of the car and walked towards the prone figure. Blood pooled around Eliza's face, her features pale like a withered rose. Aaron Coleman looked down at her, a cold smirk forming on his lips. "Small world, isn't it? You still ended up in my hands, woman." Sunlight filtered through the white curtains, casting a gentle glow over the hospital room. Eliza, dressed in a blue-and-white striped patient gown, sat on the edge of the bed, her mind a blank slate. She struggled to recall anything, but the harder she tried, the more her head ached. At that moment, a nurse pushed the door open and walked in. "Miss Poppy, it's time to check your temperature." "Miss Poppy? What did you call me?" Eliza grabbed the nurse's arm, her voice trembling with excitement. "Yes, you're Miss Poppy. Your name is Poppy, or so your boyfriend told us. I didn't even know Poppy was a surname until he mentioned it. He said it's quite rare." The nurse smiled as she checked the thermometer. "Your temperature is normal. Miss Poppy, rest well. If you need anything, just press the call button. I'll be outside." Eliza stopped her, "You said my name is Poppy. Who is my boyfriend?" Before the nurse could answer, a figure appeared at the door. "Mr. Coleman is here. Perfect timing, you can answer her questions now," the nurse said with a polite smile before leaving. Aaron Coleman responded with a faint smile and walked over to Eliza. "I know you have many questions. I'm here to answer them." Eliza's clear eyes widened as she looked at the handsome man before her. "Who are you? And who am I?" "I'm Aaron Coleman, your master. Your name is Poppy, and I bought you." "I bought you?" Eliza frowned deeply, unable to believe such a thing could happen in this day and age. "Yes, I bought you. Look at this," Aaron said, handing her a multi-page contract. During her hospital stay, Aaron had his men investigate this woman. Her ID was fake, and her true identity was a mystery, as if she were a ghost. She had forgotten everything, including the night they spent together. Her memory had been wiped clean by the accident. Doctors had told him that her chances of recovering her memory were slim, only about ten percent. Aaron decided not to delve into her true identity. An amnesiac had its advantages. Since she was a blank slate now, he could give her a new identity. "You owe me five million dollars, which you can't repay. So, you sold yourself to me. The contract clearly states that you can only leave when I'm tired of you. It's legally binding, so there's no room for doubt." "That's not fair!" Eliza protested, "I don't remember any of this." Aaron sneered, "Life isn't fair. If you can come up with five million dollars now, you can leave. Otherwise, don't talk to me about fairness. The contract has your fingerprint, making it legally binding. There's no questioning its validity." Eliza listened, bewildered. Did she really owe this man that much money? "I don't have any money..." "I know you don't," Aaron said with a smirk. "But there are many ways to repay a debt in this world. One of them will suit you." "…" Seeing Eliza's confused look, Aaron smiled slightly. "You'll pay with your body. When I'm done with you, you can leave." "I have one more question. Why am I in the hospital? Why can't I remember anything from before?" "Ugh—" Aaron's mind raced. "Speaking of that, you deserve punishment. To think you colluded with another man to escape from me. But fate is fair. You got into a car accident on the way, he died, and you lost your memory. So, tell me, how should I punish you for this?" Aaron let out a cold snort and gripped Eliza's chin tightly, his handsome face close to hers. "Hmm? How should I punish you?" he repeated, his eyes dark and dangerous. The natural, delicate fragrance emanating from her stirred something primal within him. He remembered that intoxicating scent from before. Without warning, Aaron's lips claimed hers, his right hand holding the back of her head as his tongue pried her trembling lips apart, teasing and tangling with hers. His embrace was like a furnace, enveloping her entirely. Eliza had no strength to resist. A single kiss left her face flushed, her body weak and pliant. A strange familiarity coursed through her, stirring something deep within. Eliza was confused. Should she believe what he was saying? When Aaron finally released her, he looked at the flushed woman in his arms and smiled in satisfaction. "See? Your body reacts to me, doesn't it?" Eliza was discharged from the hospital and brought to Aaron's luxurious mansion on the hillside. As soon as they entered, a dozen servants bowed to Aaron. "Welcome home, sir!" Eliza felt a wave of unfamiliarity and instinctively clung to Aaron's arm. Aaron glanced down at her, pleased with her dependence. "This is your home now. Relax, there's no need to be nervous." Eliza nodded at his gentle reassurance, still feeling out of place. She had almost no personal belongings. The maid, Xia, led her to Aaron's room and opened a wardrobe. "Miss Poppy, all these clothes were prepared for you by the master." Eliza stepped forward to see the wardrobe filled with the latest designer clothes, many with tags still attached, from well-known brands. "Rest for a bit, Miss Poppy. I'll go prepare your bath," Xia said with a smile, heading toward the bathroom. Eliza called after her, "Where's Aaron?" Xia turned back. "He's in the study, on a call. He asked me to assist you with your bath." Assist her with her bath? Eliza's heart skipped a beat. "No need, Xia. I can manage on my own." "Alright, Miss Poppy. Call me if you need anything." "Okay." Eliza looked at the nightgown Xia handed her—a flimsy piece of fabric with a few straps, more like lingerie than sleepwear. What kind of nightgown is this? she thought, frowning. It was practically see-through. She placed the nightgown on the bed and went to the wardrobe to find something else to wear before heading to the bathroom. When Aaron returned to the room from his study, he noticed the nightgown still on the bed. She hadn't worn it. His eyebrows furrowed slightly. The bathroom door slid open. Eliza stepped out, towel-drying her hair. Aaron's eyes widened slightly when he saw her wearing his white shirt. A smile tugged at his lips. Her slender frame was engulfed in the oversized shirt, making her look even more delicate. But also more enticing, especially with her long, shapely legs, looking almost sculptural. A woman wearing nothing but a man's white shirt had a certain allure, an unspoken invitation. In short, he was very satisfied with what he saw. A month had passed, and he started to miss her scent, her dazed eyes at that time, and the alluring sound of her soft moans. Aaron walked forward, wrapping an arm around Eliza's waist, pulling her close. He inhaled deeply, taking in the fresh scent of her body wash. "Poppy, you really are a bewitching little temptress," he murmured. Then, his fingers playfully squeezed her rounded hip.
