The moment the masked man lunged at Jasper, my wolf roared. Instinct took over before my mind could catch up.
He grabbed Jasper’s tiny frame and tried to shove him into the black van. My claws itched, my teeth bared and my body moved on its own.
I sprang from the car, jamming my hand in the van door to block it. Pain shot through my fingers, white-hot, but I ignored it. My wolf coiled with fury, ready to leap through me. I yanked Jasper’s little leg back with all my strength.
