Ava's POV
Victor stared down at me with those sharp Alpha eyes that could make even seasoned warriors lower their heads.
My wolf shifted uneasily beneath my skin. I swallowed hard, forcing my breathing to stay steady.
“He doesn’t see me as his mother anymore,” I said quietly. “And I gave up custody in the divorce papers. Of course he’s your son.”
Victor shrugged, the corner of his mouth lifting in that infuriating smirk that used to make my heart race… before it started breaking it.
“Oh?” he said lazily. “Then why were you risking your life for my son? Since when did you become so selfless?”
My wolf bristled.
I pushed the irritation down and shot back, “I’ve always been like this.”
His scent was too close, wrapping around me and making my pulse unsteady.
