{Maisie’s POV}
I don’t remember falling asleep on the jet, but I found myself waking up in a car, my head resting on Angelo’s muscular arm. He had moved me once we got off the jet, and he did it so gently, that I didn’t even wake up. I sat up, stretching, rubbing my eyes and yawning. “W-Where are we?” I asked, stretching slightly.
He chuckled. “Almost there, just a few minutes out. We’re going to the town first, that way I can get you some clothes.”
“You don’t have to do that!” I said, a little flustered. “I have plenty of money, I can get some clothes for myself!”
“Listen, I know that you make plenty of money as a doctor, but I also have plenty of money, more than I know what to do with, and I offered to bring you here, which means it wouldn’t be right for me to expect you to buy your clothes. We also need to get some groceries to stock up the house with. I know that you don’t want me to buy you things, that you don’t need it, but I will be buying you some clothes, since it’s only fair.” He replied, placing his hand on my knee.
I went to protest, but I realized it wouldn’t matter, he’s already made up his mind, and I knew how stubborn he was. I sighed, “Fine.. but I owe you!”
“You shouldn’t go around saying I owe you.. You don’t want to owe just anyone a favor Maisie.” He smirked.
“I won’t.. but I do owe you.. you’ve helped me a lot.. and you didn’t judge me..” I said, pulling my knees to my chest in the seat. “Thank you..” I said, smiling over at him.
A blush spread across his cheeks, as he turned and looked out the window. “No problem Maisie.. but you don’t owe me, you helped me and my family too. So why don’t we call it even?”
I paused, before nodding. “Okay, we’ll call it even.” I peered out the window beside me, and I could see that we were driving down a stone road, it was beautiful, there were palm trees everywhere, and we began pulling up to the town I could see little shops, with bright tropical signs in their windows. “I-It’s beautiful..” I said, watching as we passed shop after shop, before pulling into a round about, with a large fountain in the center. The driver let us out, and as we stepped out I couldn’t stop staring at all of the bright colored kites that I didn’t see before. They littered the sky behind some of the shops, closer to the beach. I smiled, watching them sail across the sky, painting it with vibrant colors.
“Really beautiful..” I heard Angelo say, but when I turned to face him, I couldn’t help the blush that spread across my face when I noticed he was staring down at me. He turned, clearing his throat before speaking. “Where would you like to go first? They have a market place where there is plenty of farm fresh veggies, and fruits, there’s also a grocery store, along with a few different clothing stores all down the strip.” He said, pointing the way that he was now looking.
I looked down the road, “Maybe we should get the groceries last..” I said, walking up beside him. “If we get the groceries now, anything cold might go bad before we get back..”
He nodded. “Good thinking, those three stores there have a lot of nice clothes, they’re Margo’s favorite shops here.” He smiled, holding his arm out to me.
I carefully looped my arm with his, allowing him to walk me down to the shops. We spent the next hour finding me some clothes, underwear, and swimsuits. I noticed that one of the women in the shops kept staring at us, shooting me glares while I picked out my clothes. Once we got the bags, we put them in the car and went to the farmers market, and the store, getting plenty of food for the house, and soon we took off towards the house.
When we pulled up, I was amazed, most of the house was made up of floor to ceiling windows. I was dazzled by the wrap around porch, with swings, and rocking chairs. All of the plant life surrounding the house, flowers everywhere. He helped me out of the car, and soon we were carrying in the bags. “I’ve got a guest room right next to mine, there are two bathrooms down here, and one upstairs right across from your room, and of course one in the master bedroom, which is my room. I’ll help you get your bags to your room, and show you where you can unpack. If you want to wash your stuff first, there’s a washer and dryer down here.” He said, leading me into the living room. There was a conversation pit in the middle of the floor, with a fire pit in the middle of it. On back was a massive kitchen, all oak and white cabinets. There was a big island, with some barstools, and next to that there was a massive dining room table.
“If you’re okay with it, I’d like to wash the stuff before I put it away..” I said, smiling at him.
“No problem!” He let me to the laundry room and smiled. “Do you need any help?” He asked.
I shook my head, smiling up at him. “No, I can get it, thank you. I can come help put away the groceries first..” I began, but he placed his hand on my shoulder and smiled.
“Go ahead and get your clothes washed, then you can come help me if you want.” He smiled, before leaving the room.
I began taking all of the tags off my clothes, before tossing them into the washing machine. I got rid of the bags, and turned on the washing machine, before heading into the kitchen, seeing Angelo putting up all of the groceries with a smile on his face. He looked happy, truly happy.
