Beginnings

{Maisie’s POV} Heather helped me pick out the perfect dress, it was pale pink with off the shoulder straps. It went down to my mid thigh, and had a slit on one leg that went up almost to my hip, with a deep v neckline. I got dressed, fluffing up my natural kinky curls, and put on some light makeup. I decided to wear stocking to cover up the bandages on my leg, along with a white shawl to cover my arm. I pulled on some white heels, and grabbed my purse. I looked over myself in the mirror and smiled, I felt pretty, I just hoped that Angelo felt the same way when he sees me. I walked out, making my way downstairs just in time to see Angelo standing in the living room adjusting his tie. He was wearing a black suit, with a red vest, a white button up shirt, and a black tie. I took a moment, tracing my eyes across him. I’d never seen someone as handsome as he is. He’s tall, bulky, muscular, and his body is so toned. His eyes trailed up me from the ground, and when our eyes met, I swear it was like lightning struck. I smiled, and he smiled back, that beautiful genuine smile. He walked to me, closing the distance between us within seconds. “You look beautiful Maisie!” He said, leaning down and kissing my cheek softly. “Thank you..” I said softly, blushing as I looked up to him. “You look pretty great yourself.” He held out his arm and I took it, carefully looping one arm with his, and placing my other hand on top. He walked me out to the car, opening the door for me, and closing it behind me when I got in. I buckled up as he ran around and got into the car. We took off, heading towards the restaurant. I looked over at him, watching his expressions. He looked nervous, “Do I make you anxious?” I asked, placing my hand on his arm that was lying across the arm rest. He turned his head, slightly to look at me. “No, no, not you.. this..” he said, taking in a deep breath. “I’ve never actually been on a real date..” I turned completely sideways in my seat. “What? Angelo, you’re telling me that this is your first date?” He chuckled, that deep voice rumbling in his chest. “Yeah.. it’s a little embarrassing I guess. I just, I never found anyone that I wanted to go out with, so I didn’t.” “Oh..” I said, a little taken aback. “But you planned it so easily, and you seem like a natural at behaving like a gentleman..” He smiled over at me, before turning his attention back to the road. “Maisie, I don’t have to go on a bunch of dates to know how to act like a gentleman, and I also don’t have to date to know how to plan a date. I could have dated, I just didn’t want to, and I’ve watched enough of my brother’s failed relationships to decide that I didn’t want to go into a relationship without being sure.” “Being sure about what?” I asked, watching him intently. “Being sure that the woman I date, is someone that I actually want to be with. Someone that I don’t want to mess things up with.. someone that I can see myself with.” He said. “I’ve been out with women, been to clubs.. but it wasn’t ever really dates. It was all just leading up to one thing, which I hardly did that either.” He said, pulling his hand up and running it through his hair. I nodded. “So, you can see yourself being with me then?” I asked, fidgeting with my hands. He nodded, sighing heavily. “I’m nervous.. I’m nervous about saying the wrong thing, doing the wrong thing. You’re.. you’re so fun to be around.. I find myself laughing and smiling more now than I had in years.” “I do too..” I said softly. “You make me happy.. and it’s been hard for me to be happy in a while. Meeting you at the club, it was.. intimidating, at first, but I felt this spark that I hadn’t ever felt, like lighting. Then seeing you again at the hospital, helping your family at your house. When you fell down the stairs, I was so worried.. but even after everything, you came to help me when I was struggling.” I smiled over at him. “Thank you Angelo..” “Thank you, for helping me and my family.” He smiled, as we pulled up to the restaurant. He parked the car, getting out and opening my car door for me. He held out his arm, allowing me to take it as he walked us in. “Hello, can I help you?” The hostess asked, smiling and making eyes at Angelo. “My girlfriend and I have a reservation, under LaRoux.” He said, immediately shooting her down, as he released my arm, to place his arm around me. The look on her face was priceless, she looked between the two of us, trying to hold a fake smile, but it faltered into a sneer. “Oh, of course, right this way..” she said, turning and walking us to our table. Angelo pulled away from me, pulling out my chair, and allowing me to sit. When I was seated, he scooted me in, and walked to the opposite side, sitting down across from me. The hostess handed us the menu’s and asked what we wanted to drink. We ordered a bottle of wine for the table, and I asked Angelo to get me whatever he thinks is the best dish here. What I didn’t expect, was when he ordered one of everything on the menu. A barrage of plates were sat on our table, and our wine poured as we sat and tasted every dish. My favorite was the Risotto Milanese. We got some to go boxes, and packed up the rest of the food before heading back to the house. Once we were back, Angelo put away the food, and told me to go change into my pjs. I ran upstairs, quickly changing into a sage green nightgown, and my matching silk, sage green robe. I tied it around me, making my way back downstairs. I froze when I saw Angelo in the kitchen, scooping ice cream into bowls. He had his tie loosened, his jacket was thrown on the counter. His button up had three buttons undone on top, the vest completely unbuttoned, and the sleeves of his shirt were rolled up to his elbows, showing off his toned arms, and tattoos.
