Eloise Reyn has had it rough living as the only human in a wolf pack. She wouldn't be lonely, but her mom died. Her father can barely look at her because she looks just like her mother. On top of her father giving her the cold shoulder, the pack has always treated her as the pack maid.

She often feels like an outsider just looking in on the pack life as if she's watching bad TV. She doesn't even have a friend within the pack.

On the day she turns 18, she's expected to find her mate. The only problem is, she's not even sure if she gets one.

April 5th You know how some movies show what looks like a school just for vampires or a school just for witches and wizards? Well, I'm from a large pack of werewolves. There are many packs around the world just as there are several covens of witches around the world. The witches have made schools and some of the packs have, but ours hasn't. Our Alpha believes in integrating into society. Even though, the humans don't realize they're conversing with creatures that could easily rip their throats out. Meanwhile, I'm a human in a wolf pack. Or...at least, I think I am. I've never shown any sign of being a wolf. I get sick every winter, I have bad allergies, I heal at a normal speed, I don't have an enhanced s*x drive, I can't do anything athletic, and I just don't fit the "normal" look of female werewolves. I guess, by wolf standards, I blend well with the other humans. By human standards, I'm kind of a misfit. At home, I'm seen as the maid for most of the pack members. Well, most of the Omegas are treated as less than, but some of them are almost held as Gammas. (Gammas are right between Beta and Omega.) I don't know, I've always thought I got treated worse than the other Omegas because I'm believed to be human. I could be having a constant pity party for all I know. Eh, I'm used to it by now. I mean, I'm even gaslighting myself, if that says anything. Anyways, I'm sitting in English class and should probably pay attention. Goodbye for now, Journal. I closed my journal to look up as the teacher stared at me from across the room. She stood in front of the white board with one hand on her hip, still holding the dry erase marker. "Miss Reyn! Did you hear anything I said?" Mrs. Clark uttered in my direction, annoyance clear in her voice. I scanned the room and all eyes were on me. Including the ocean colored ones belonging to Luke, the Alpha's son. I looked at the board and knew exactly what we were talking about. It said, "Local history topics for essay assignment." Mrs.Clark ushered for me stand before I spoke. "As a matter of fact, I didn't hear you. I did, however, already pick a topic for my essay." She raised an eyebrow, "Oh really?" "Yes." I shuffled around in my green folder, labeled, English. "In the spirit of the upcoming holiday, Halloween, I'm gonna write about the belief the town founders had that werewolves existed." Luke looked at me like I just killed someone. "That topic sounds more like fiction." Mrs. Clark stated. "Actually, while may be fictional for werewolves to exist, there is a phenomenal amount of proof that our town founders built old structures made to hold wolves on the full moon. There was a hysteria for almost the same amount of time as the witch trials. Who knows, maybe they were crazy. But, there was nothing in the rules for the essay that said I couldn't write about something that was more of a belief than a fact." I watched as the werewolves in the room caught their breath. Mrs. Clark hesitated before shrugging her shoulders. "Very well, but don't make me regret this." I sat back down as they all released their breath. I heard sighs from one corner of the room to the next. Luke muttered under his breath and I wished I could hear him. That would mean I'm just a late bloomer, not a human. Too bad, wishes never come true. *ring ring ring ring ring* The annoyingly long bell pulled me from my thoughts. Students began to leave the room as I sat waited for the room to clear out. I would normally get ambushed if I got up with everyone else. Somehow the principal always finds a way to make things my fault when I walk to his office with a bloody nose. That's probably because he's a Gamma. They've always thought they were better than Omegas. In reality, we're one of 10 packs in the world that have ever had Gammas. Because that's not even a real status. I made my way to the cafeteria with my friend Cadence following closely behind me. I've never had another friend, but she's kind of stuck in her phone half the time. Who knows what she's doing. As I approached the lunch line, Samantha, a popular girl decided to take her own s**t out on me. I didn't even do anything to her. She shoved me, almost causing me to fall. I caught myself and continued on. I grabbed my tray, trying to mind my own business and shuffled down the line as mashed potatoes, gravy, a chicken patty and a roll were added to it. I paid for my food and a bottle of Dr. Pepper. Samantha followed me to the table I sit at. She sat down next to me. She decided to try and pick at my food. I wish I could fight back. "You're so lonely and pathetic, Eloise. Your only friend won't even sit with you." "f**k off, Samantha." I rolled my jade colored eyes in her direction. She reached over to my soda. I don't get that very often, so it made me mad. I smacked her hand away. "You just hit me." She said with faked surprise. "Don't touch my things." I said before opening a book and ignoring her. She got bored and left me alone to eat and read in peace. The peace didn't last very long because Cadence finally decided to join me. "What did she want?" Cadence looked at me as if she was waiting for a snarky remark. "She wanted to be an annoying little brat." I said without even looking up from my book. She glanced at her phone and announced the time. "It's 11:57. We have three minutes until the bell rings." I nodded and folded down the corner of the page I was on. Without a word, I dumped my tray and placed my book back in my bag. Cadence walked with me towards the hallway and broke off to head to her class on the other side of the school. The bell rang as she disappeared down the other hallway. The rest of the school day was a blur. I knew where I was going and what we were doing in the classes, but I was on autopilot. As soon as the last bell rang, it was like someone woke me from a trance. I looked down at my notebook and I had written the word, "wishes" all over my paper. I figured I was just having one of my "episodes" and correlated it to the two wishes I'd made earlier in the day. "Wishes don't come true." I whispered to myself as if to remind myself of the reality I live in. I packed up my stuff, slung my bag over my shoulder, and headed out to my bike.
