Gooky Receives Unexpected Guests

656 Words
Before they left, Kyle first returned to the bush where he had hidden his bag that had his g*n. He knew they were going for negotiations but since he was a lumberjack too, he knew their behavior. The negotiations could soon erupt like a volcano, into a serious fight. He did this secretly so that Job could not notice. To his advantage, the g*n was small enough to fit into his pocket. In case of any emergencies, he would step up. The journey was not that easy. It was of course a long journey. Since Job knew most of the shortcuts on the island, that helped to reduce the time they would have spent travelling. In just two hours, Kyle and Job could see the plot with five huts and also saw the smoke that continued to ascend from the backyard of the huts. “I really hope these people will listen to us. What you sow is what you rip. I once helped Gooky and saved his life. I know he will return the favor,” Job said. Kyle immediately replied, “As far as I am concerned, all fellers are heartless. They always make decisions that are against the odds. Let us just be hopeful but do not be so sure. Perhaps this person, Gooky is different.” “We will find out in a few minutes, Kyle,” said Job as they reached Gooky’s residence. They found the children playing in the compound and shouting to the top of their voices as though it was obligatory. The women were also sitting on a mat under a tree conversing about a number of matters, as women always do. Job was very surprised to see such a number of women and children on his island. He knew Gooky had done it but he did not expect that he would overdo it. If Job thought he was surprised, I tell you Kyle was extra surprised. He thought that by finding Job, he had seen it all on the island until he saw this other residence. When the women and children saw these two intruders, they first stepped back because they also did not expect any visitors at that time of the day. The good news to them was that at that very instant, Gooky and his men were returning from the backyard of biggest hut, from where they were burning charcoal. They were from checking the progress of their project. They had left Sheya and Jack there doing the final touches. When Gooky landed his eyes on Job, his heart palpitated so abnormally as if it would break its cages. It had been two years since he last saw Job. His biggest worry was that he had been deceiving Jarod and his men that he was the owner of the island and now the real owner had appeared. He really did not want Jack and Sheya, who had remained to hear whatever Job had to say, or even see him. This would cause them to lose their trust in him. To make matters worse, Job was not alone. He had another gigantic man by his side. This left many questions in Gooky’s mind. Could this stranger be Job’s personal bodyguard? Could he be a policeman, minister or one of his relatives? Being in this entangled web of confusion, Gooky whispered to one of his men to go to Jack and Sheya so as to keep them busy. He did not want them to see Job and neither did he want Job to see them. Otherwise, he would be caught pants down. He commanded the women and children to enter their huts and get to work. Gooky and the rest of the men then moved towards Job and Kyle. Gooky welcomed Job pretending to be his friend. He never gave them seats since he did not want them to spend a lot of time at his place.
