What Goes Around, Comes Around

Each and everyone rushed to the courtyard not knowing what exactly had happened. Even Jack and Sheya were also called upon since the matter concerned them. Till that time, Jack and Sheya had not seen Kyle. They did not even think that he would be that close to them.

Actually, Jack and Sheya thought that they were being called upon because Jarod and Peter had returned from the city. They were surely disappointed not to see them there since they expected them to return that day. Instead, it was Gooky speaking.

“Ladies and gentlemen, we have an emergency. The trees in the haunted forest are planning to stop our growing business. They wrote a letter to me sounding a warning to all of us.

We have tried to be lenient with them. In fact, we cut down trees selectively. We were very careful and I know we did not cut down any tree from that forest. It seems they want us to do something about them.

For that reason therefore, this is what we are going to do. Everyone, please listen very carefully. This night, we are going to attack the forest. It is going to be a surprise attack,” Gooky said.

“Forgive me for interrupting. Are sure about this? That forest is dangerous. We lost our friend in that forest. He was very badly injured. It is you who even told us that no tree can be cut down in that forest. Are you forgetting what you said?” argued Sheya.

“I do remember what I said. I understand your concerns. This risk I am taking is for your own good. If I do not do anything about it, then you will have no place on this island. It will be better for you if you are dead by then.

This is my plan. All those who failed to cut down a tree in the forest wanted to do it manually with chainsaws and axes. We are going to do something different. We are going to burn down the haunted forest. If we do not put that forest to an end, we will all die of poverty.

Therefore, prepare the paraffin, lighters and matchsticks. That plan should be executed tonight without fail. It will be done by the men plus Jack and Sheya. As for the women and children, you will remain home and receive Jarod and Peter as they return. I hope there is no complaint.

“What about our new prisoner?” asked one of Gooky’s name.

Gooky was really disappointed to here this question because he did not want Jack and Sheya to know that there were other people on this island. He then replied that they had no prisoner but all them were friends. He just did this so as to divert attention of Jack and Sheya from the matter.

He then told each one to get to work. Gooky’s idea was to pour paraffin through and around the forest then set it on fire. His idea was supplemented by that of Jack and Sheya who had the knowledge of making home-made explosives.

They made them by pouring paraffin into glass bottles and fastening the brims and then leaving a short rope to project through the cover. It was like a dynamite. To make it work, one was to set fire on the short rope and then throw it towards the target.

By dusk, everything was in place. All they were waiting for was Gooky’s command. After having supper, Gooky led the group towards the forest. When they reached, they started pouring paraffin throughout the whole forest. To everyone’s surprise, the trees did nothing at all.

Gooky was really happy because everything was moving as planned. The next step was setting fire on the glass bottle and throwing them into the forest. Therefore, they all surrounded the forest with each having two of the bottles in their hand.

“Light the bottles and throw them into the forest. After that, we will all just run back home. Get ready fellow heroes. We do this on a count of three. One…..Two…..Three…………Action,” commanded Gooky.

It is so sad no one told Gooky that the forests had the ability to here whatever he said. How pathetic! Nevertheless, Gooky and his colleagues did as they had planned but what they saw was very far from expected. The trees in the forest were burning but they were not being consumed by the fire. This was very unexpected.

In a nick of time, all the trees jumped out of the soil and started chasing after Gooky and his fellows. After catching up with all of them, the trees encircled their oppressors just to be sure none of them escaped.

“How we have suffered with human beings! You keep plotting against us but l assure you, you attacked the wrong forest this time. Allow me to inform you that we all get to know whatever happens in every corner of this island.

We knew about your scheme and we also had your words. You wanted to make fools of us but this time you have failed. Today, we are going to punish you in a way that all humanity will talk about everywhere, forever,” said Billy.

“We are going to make sure the world gets to know whatever happens to you,” added Billy. “From now on, it is only the old trees to remain here. After this, the rest of the young trees must go throughout the forest and allover the world and spread the news to those humans.”

The trees were so furious to the extent that they did not allow Gooky and his fellows to utter out a word. Gooky tried to speak in defense of his group but the trees would not let him.

Well, I think you can guess what happened next. It was game over for Jack, Sheya, Gooky and his men. The trees went on to hit each and everyone of them with hands, “ branches.” Yes, how could the trees forgive those who wanted to burn them down. Since Gooky’s master plan was to destroy the forest, the trees did exactly the same thing.

Having given them a beating that they deserved, they went ahead to bury all of them alive in the ground where the forest was. They were to act as nourishment for trees in the forest from that time on.
