Ava watched as Eli walked away, she thought he doesn't meant it but then, she knew he does.
"Maybe we're not meant to find my kids together." She thought, watched him for a while and turned back, treading the opposite route, to continue her search.
After a long search, Ava got tired and broke down.
She was becoming frustrated, "Where could they be? I've been searching everywhere!"
Mari, her wolf was concerned. "We have been at this for hours. Maybe we should take a break and regroup." She said.
Ava's was teary-eyed, "No, I can't just sit here and do nothing! My babies are out there somewhere, lost and scared! And probably hungry!" She countered.
"I understand how you feel, but you need to take care of yourself too. Let's sit down for a moment and catch our breath." Her wolf told her tiredly.
Ava reluctantly sat down, wiping away her tears.
Ava's voice quivered. "I just... I just want them back. I can't bear the thought of them being alone out there."
"We'll find them, Ava. We won't give up until we do. But right now, you're exhausted, I am too, and you need to rest."
"I know you're right, Mari. It's just so hard. They're my everything."
"I know, Ava. They mean everything to you, they mean everything to me too. They are my pups too remember?? But we have to stay strong. We'll keep searching, and we'll find them."
Ava took a deep breath, trying to regain her composure.
"Okay, let's keep going. Maybe someone in the neighborhood has seen them." Mari had to say when she found out that Ava was not at rest. Although, she too was worried but she had to be calm and be strong for both Ava and her kids.
"That's a good idea. We'll go door to door if we have to. We won't leave any stone unturned."
Ava walked out of the woods, into the city to continue her search, she was sure she was getting a lead to her kids.
"The people around here might here seen when my kids were taken, or when the kidnappers pass by with them."
So she knocked on a door randomly, "who's there??" a woman's voice erupted from the room.
"I am here. My name is Ava." She introduced herself even as nobody opened the door for her.
"We don't know any Ava around here but we'll open the door. Please do move away from the door, it's for your own good though, thank me later." The woman's voice echoed.
Ava immediately moved back from the door, creating a little big space between herself and the door.
The door slightly opened with an head popping out, "and where is the Ava??" The woman who peeped asked aloud.
"Over here!" Ava waved from her space.
The woman became relaxed, after seeing how petite Ava was, "you can come over now."
"How may I help you?"
"I'm on a search for my kids, I don't know if you notice some people pass by here looking suspicious."
The woman stared at her so well to know if she was okay or crazy, "Are you indirectly telling me that you are looking for your children?"
Ava gulped, the woman's stare was freaking her out. It wasn't friendly at all??
"Yes." She managed to answer.
The woman shut her door and stood outside with Ava, she rested her body on the door. "How many are they??"
"You mean my children??"
"No, I meant your cats." She replied sarcastically.
Ava sighed with her head bowed. "Three of them, they are triplets."
"Gosh! How are you so careless with three kids? How old are they."
Ava refused to answer her but she did as she felt the woman's glare on her. "A year and a half."
"What?? How didn't you noticed them being taken away??"
"I wasn't around and my.. um.. mom, no grandmother was with them. I found my grandmother dead and kids missing."
The woman literally busted, "How dare you be careless with three kids? You shouldn't even think of being careless with one! How dare you? If you know that you're not ready to care for them, why bringing them to this world?" She exhaled and inhaled, "Leave my sight girl! Leave before I kill you with my hands, just leave here right now and never look back, I can g*n you down if you look back!!" Ava left the woman's side with a renewed guilt and tears.
The woman was that pained because she had no child and her husband's family were not making anything cool for her but she was always ready to treat their wrongs.
Ava continued her search, knocking on doors and asking for any information about the missing triplets, she can't help it, she had to keep on searching even as the first woman was not so nice, though she knew that the woman was right, so no offense taken.
"Do you see anything suspicious today??"
"Like what??"
"A k********g occuring??"
"I'm sorry, I haven't seen anything like that for a while. But I'll keep an eye out and let you know if I do."
"Thank you, please do. They're only a kid and they must be terrified."
She left for another, "Hi, do you see anyone around who seems like a kidnapper??"
"No I don't."
"Do you noticed any child being taken away forcefully then??"
"Child like??" The woman wanted more information about the child so as to know how to reply.
"They're actually three, they're triplets and of a year and a half old."
"I haven't seen any child matching their description, but I'll spread the word among my friends to know if they do."
"That would be a great help. I'll appreciate any assistance I can get."
Ava continue going from house to house, growing more desperate with each door that closes.
Ava's voice trembled, seeing that the search was futile. "This... this can't be happening. How did they just disappear from the surface of the earth with no one knowing?"
"We'll find them, Ava. We won't stop until we do." Mari told her.
Ava broke down, collapsing onto the sidewalk.
"I can't do this anymore. I can't bear the thought of never seeing them again." Sobbing Ava muttered.
"Don't say that, Ava. We're in this together. We'll find a way. We won't give up."
"I don't know what I'd do without you, Mari. Thank you for being here for me."
"You don't have to thank me, Ava. We're together. We'll face this together, no matter what, we will find them since we gave birth to them, they are our children and mother's always find their children."
