Clara's mother came to tell them that supper was ready but the look on their faces were confusing, mostly that of her step daughter, Clara. It was not what Mary had expected.
She stopped in her tracks and asked, "Is there a problem?"
Clara looked at her mother but said nothing. What could she even say? The woman had told her to meet her father for an explanation. And yet, the man had not even admitted to having anything to do with the shelf, nor did he give her any logical explanation. He had just been beating about the bush. Taking her on a merry go round.
