Kat entered the interrogation room where she met Harris patiently waiting for her. It was very embarrassing to stare into his eyes after what they had just done consciously but as she has said earlier, she can't let all the people that put their trust in her down.
"The interrogation of the first suspect on the Full Moon serial murder case will continue now." She announced, taking a quick glance at one of the CCTVs once again.
"You may proceed." The Major replied from the Camera room.
"Mate, your eyes are puffy, did someone hurt you?" He asked, staring at her with so much concern that if a clueless person was there they would think his question were truly sincere and out of concern but Kat was not a fool to fall for his pretense.
"This is an interrogation room, Mr. Wolf, not your palace! You have no right to worry about me here." She lashed out angrily as she finally started getting a hold of herself.
She had a quick flashback of her conversation with the major and she remembered his promises to him. She is the only one that can bring him down and she will!
He raised his hands in a gesture to surrender to her words.
Kat was more than ready to up her game and bring the truth out of him so she didn't bother seating down, rather, she paced around the room while talking to him but she made sure not to lose eye contact with him because she wanted to watch every of his expression to see if there is any truth to them.
"Miss Ella James was a court lady in your palace before she was murdered in cold blood..."
"Ella is dead?" Harris interrupted looking very shocked by the news but Kat won't fall for that. Psychopaths like him are perfect at changing their expressions and fooling around with people's emotions and she knows for sure he was only pretending just to get to her.
"Please, you will only speak when asked!" She scolded and he relaxed on his chair still putting on a fake surprised expression.
"The victim was confirmed to have died between 11:50 pm - 12 am, your wallet was found at the crime scene and most importantly, the distance of the crime scene to the hotel was just a few meters. I know you killed her, just tell me why you had to murder her in such a gruesome manner?" She asked, running out of patience.
"I didn't kill Ella." He replied abruptly.
"Calling him 'Ella' so casually, it obvious your relationship with her is not just Lord to servant because the palace has over a two hundred servant were over five of the staff are name Ella, but as a very busy Lord whose duty is not concerned with bothering about the insignificant maids, you still managed to know the exact person I was talking immediately I mentioned her name which proves beyond reasonable doubt that you had a casual relationship with her." She suggested and his eyes became stern.
She thought she finally got him for good now until he chuckled softly and looked down at the table briefly before looking back at her.
"You are right. We were really very close. So close that she used to warm my bed whenever I needed her. It's such a great loss because she was really good to me when she was alive." He gushed, narrowing his eyes at her.
She couldn't tell whether he expected her to be jealous about that rubbish but he really sounded so happy talking about her.
"Then why did you kill her? Because she was so good but she wanted to stop and you couldn't accept that?" She asked, stopping in front of the other side of the metal table where she was supposed to be seated and placing her palms on the table, maintaining steady eye contact with him.
Harris placed his right elbow on the table and with his folded knuckles, he supported his head, putting the weight of his body on the table. Then he gave her that eerie smile again. "She was so good I wouldn't want to kill her." He replied.
"Let's assume you had no reason to kill her, why were your belongings found there at the scene of her murder?" She asked again.
"How I'm I supposed to know that?" He wondered, shuddering his shoulders and twitching his palm, changing his former seating position.
He was so confident in his speech with little or no concern for the consequences of his stupid answers.
"Remember, every detail of this interrogation is being recorded so you have to be mindful of your answers." Kat flared up.
"Look, I don't know how my wallet went missing but I only found out early the next morning when I was about to leave the hotel room and that was why I left a note asking you to pay the bills because I checked your wallet and found some cash in it." He replied fidgeting with the tiny holes on the table.
He played so absentmindedly with his hands that one would barely guess they were discussing a murder case and this action of his threw her off.
Blood drained out of her face as soon as the door flung open all of a sudden and The Colonel stormed in with the Major, Captain and Jason, and a few other elders of the pack who were not in the police department, making her heart stop beating for a while.
Kat knew she would lose her job with the presence of the Colonel but with the presence of other Pack elders, she was sure to be thrown out of the pack and there would be no other pack to accept her in the whole of Las Vegas if the King of all packs already threw her out.
Even Gavin might not be able to save me this time. She imagined how her life would be as a young and powerless rogue and fear took over her whole body.
Frightening thoughts raised through her mind and she began to rub her necklace rigorously while gritting her teeth. The fear robbed her of her speech that she forgot how to salute and just stood staring at them in horror until Harris' devilish chuckle took away that fear.
She wondered what must have been so funny to him that he had to chuckle that loudly but his gesture took away her fear and replaced them with anger and hate.
Every sound of his chuckle made Kat's blood boil until this anger finally turned to violence and she sent two ear-splitting slaps down his already scratched cheek. She didn't know how he might've gotten the scratch on his face and she doesn't give a f**k about it.
"Are you out of your mind? How much of a psychopath are you? How can you laugh so happily and remorselessly after butchering a human like that?" She bawled as excruciating pain seared through her heart.
Everyone stood motionless with horror at her gesture and Jason's eyes read fear. She knows she just worsened things but she seriously doesn't care anymore.
If she can't even get justice for her father, then this slap shouldn't be a big deal.
At that moment, she didn't care what they'd do to her as long as they didn't involve her family in this s**t.
A hot slap landed on her face, only then did she notice the young burly man among the crowd.
The images of all the victims of the murder case flashed before her eyes once again as she felt herself slowly falling to the ground and she knew her eyes were playing tricks with her.
Ten of her slaps combined would never be as painful as the one she received from him.
The slap would serve as a good sleeping pill for even the mentally derailed.
"How...ddare...you...lay..yyour hands...on...tthe...King? Lock her in a cell this minute!" He spewed angrily and Kat was sure his statement was more clearly than her ear had heard it and two guards whose faces were not familiar walked towards her.
Yes! Ear! She realized only one of her ears was active because the ear that received the slap went numb and words that went there only bubbled and bounced out.
The next thing she saw was the most unimaginable illusion of her life because Harris raised his hands and gave the burly man a similar slap to the one he had given to her. "Hhow...dar...e...you...slap my M..ate an..d...future....L...luna?" Her ear bubbled again she knew this was definitely her imagination.
Just like the dead victims that flashed before her eyes, the slap and the speech were also illusions, and the unfamiliar guards who were about to drag her to the cell stopped midway.
Her falling to the ground was in the slowest slow motion she'd ever imagined but as she drew nearer to the ground, it became faster and just when she thought she would be crashing her butt to the ground, someone came to her rescue.
She couldn't imagine how the combination of a hurt butt and an ear-splitting slap would have been but the guardian angel didn't let her feel the pain.
"Get the paramedic!" She heard from the most unimaginable voice ever and she believed this too is an illusion.
