Capitulo 14

Gloryvale's P.O.V:

A year ago..

I came back in the Philippines broken hearted hence I focused my attention to my company so I can forget my ex-girlfriend/fiancé. I thought we have the so called forever but I guess I'm wrong.

"I just fell out of love. I'm sorry Gloryvale."

Yes, she just fell out of love 'cause she met someone new already. Two months after my arrival here in the Philippines I heard she'll be settling down and that she's already pregnant so after hearing that news every night is always a "walwal" night for me. I'm just blessed I have an efficient secretary to perform a job beyond her job description that's why everything in the company and even in my personal life are still in tack.

One night, after I sat in front of the bar I was greeted by this beautiful bartender. She's been serving me from the past days but tonight she greeted me with a smile.

"Good evening Sir. Happy weeksary."

She giggles then get a glass before heading towards me.

"How I wish I'm happy though."

"Oh.. Okay lang 'yan Sir. Masakit talaga usually ang pag-ibig. The usual sir?"

"I agree. Yes please."

"Hala, broken hearted pala talaga si Sir. At dahil diyan, your drink is coming right up."

She instantly prepared my usual whiskey smash. She even made a little bar tender trick or move before serving it to me that's why I can't help not to smile.

"You're good."

"Thank you Sir. Pero Sir, hindi naman sa pangenge-alam napansin ko lang na gabi-gabi ka ata rito. I mean, it's good for the business pero yung health mo Sir, alam mo na."

"Haha! Why thank you for the concern. I just don't know what to do with my life now."

"Hala, Sir wag mo sabihin.."

She covered her mouth and looked at me in shock. So I answered her question in mind to clear myself.

"I'm not ending my life stupid. Haha!"

I saw her relief after saying that. She even scratch the back of her head which I actually find cute. 

"What's your name?"

"Amber po. Sensya na Sir. Akala ko kasi."

"Haha! It's okay. I like you."

"Si Sir naman, lasing kaagad. Haha! Thank you Sir."

She excuse herself before continuing her work while I keep my eye on her and continue drinking my whiskey. She's really good as a bartender and she connects with people very well. Until a phone call interrupted me.

"Hello?"

"I called your office but your secretary told me you're drinking again. Gloryvale, are you trying to kill yourself?"

I laughed with his question and heard him cussed at me.

"Why the f**k are you laughing?"

"The bartender here thought the same. Of course I'm not killing myself idiot. I just wanna get rid of this pain."

"You're such a loser."

"Wow, look who's talking. Aren't you the one who's stuck in an abusive marriage?"

"Don't start with me Gloryvale."

"You started it."

"f**k you. Anyway, I called to tell you I might be home 5-6 months from now. I'm just finalizing our partnership with Azalea and my divorce also."

"Wait, what? You're finally getting a divorce?"

"Yes. She finally signed the papers."

"Damn, congratulations. You're soon to be a free man."

"Thanks. So I'll go ahead now and stop drinking. Get a grip."

We ended our phone call with a good news. I am a witness of how my friend suffered physically and emotionally that's why I am overjoyed right now. But that doesn't mean I need to stop drinking. Tonight will be different.

"Amber."

"Yes Sir? Another whiskey smash?"

"No, give me something different."

"Light or hard po Sir?"

"It's up to you. Impress me."

"Haha! Sige Sir. Mabuti at good mood ka na. Wait Sir, may irerequest lang ako sa DJ na kanta para sa'yo."

She went to the DJ and requested a song I am not familiar but it sounds good. After talking to the DJ she went back and start mixing drinks with a little bit of dancing. Not only me was entertained but all of us here sitting in the bar. After her show, she served a smoking cocktail in front of me.

"And what's this?"

"Try mo Sir. Ikaw ang unang makakatikim niyan. First time ko kasi iserve ang signature drink ko."

"Really? My pleasure then."

I sip her signature drink and to my surprise it was one of the best cocktail I've ever tasted.

"Wow! What's this?"

"I called it Ghosting."

"Ghosting? Why? Were you ghosted before?"

"Oo sir eh."

"I'm sorry to hear that."

"Okay lang. Pero mukhang papalitan ko na nga ng pangalan ang drink na 'yan. Magiging King of Wishful Thinking nalang. Haha!"

"Haha! That's nice but I prefer the Ghosting though 'cause of the smoke from the drink, looks like a ghost is coming out."

"Then Ghosting it is."

She smiled at me again and I don't know but that made my heart skipped a beat. 

Present Time..

The guards greeted me and checked my temperature before letting me in to the production area. I have to check the factory and the laboratory as well because we're doing mass production of PPE, face mask, face shield, testing kits, etc. This virus is not a freaking joke that's why I have to do a close monitoring so we can meet the demands not only by our clients but the public also.

"Cam, what's my schedule for today?"

This might be ludicrous but my secretary and I are talking loudly like she's on the other side of the building. The moment the lockdown started we strictly implemented and practice social distancing so she's 6 feet away from me. Let's add also that we're in a factory so everything in here is noisy.

"You have a meeting with the department of health at 1pm. That's your only schedule for today."

"Okay. Have you spoken to my sister?"

"Yes Sir. She still doesn't want to go back to your home."

"That brat! Once my meeting's done we'll go to the condo."

"Copy Mr. Castillo."

She's really pain in the neck. After checking the factory and made sure that we're doing fine so far, I went to the laboratory to check if there's any progress with the vaccine our company is trying to make. And there I saw Jonah in his lab coat. He's even now hands on because of this pandemic.

I was about to knock on the glass wall when he notice me so he pause for a while and went out to talk to me.

"Any news from London?"

"None. But they're working on it."

"I see. You better explain our plan later to the department of health."

"Mamaya na ba 'yun?"

"Oo. Don't tell me nakalimutan mo."

Great. Now he's laughing. He seems to be in good mood which made me curious. He seldom laugh.

"Chill Gloryvale. Nakapag tagalog ka na tuloy. Everything's okay. Akong bahala."

"Masama bang mag tagalog ako?"

"Hindi naman. Hindi lang ako sanay."

"Whatever. Anyway, how's Amber? Jeez, I didn't know she's the girl you're talking about before."

"She's fine and safe. And I didn't know you met her before."

"Yes, we did. She's cool and beautiful."

Jonah gave me a death stare so this time I laugh at him. That's why I like pissing him off.

"Yes she is. Kaya nga naging kami diba."

"Oh yeah, if I heard you correctly yesterday, she's your ex. So can I court her then?"

"Do you wanna die?"

This guy is impossible. He's really funny.

"Now you chill Jonah. I'm just messing around."

"Ain't funny."

"Yeah yeah. Anyway, I'll go to the office now. See you later."

I turn my back and raise my hand then I left the laboratory. Well, a girl like Amber is not hard to love so I can't blame Jonah if he's head over heels until now. I myself even can't help also not to have infatuation for that girl but of course I have to keep it to myself.
