The show begins

David walked down the hallway with a scowl on his face. Glancing back a couple of times, he exchanged eye contact with a nonchalant Marcus, causing him to feel a stronger itch in his liver. If he had his way, he considered dispatching the bastard before things got out of hand but he could tell. Marcus was no ordinary kid. The first indication was that he was able to see through his disguise so easily. He'd been in the force for 10 years and no one else had managed to make out his martial arts heritage, but Marcus saw through it at a glance. Even if it was luck, the way Marcus carried himself moments ago while he was hitting him was an even greater red flag. Glancing at his knuckles, David grimaced at the pain he felt. It was almost like he'd punched steel repeatedly. 'Darn it, who's that f*****g kid!?' He questioned inwardly but naturally, there was no answer. Taking one last look behind, David caught sight of Marcus grinning from ear to ear with a mocking look in his eyes. "!!!" He cursed so many times inwardly, he barely repressed the urge to kill Marcus before rushing up the stairs. At this point, he had to get away from the boy before he lost his sanity. Rushing up the flight of stairs, he soon began to hear aggressive shouts in the distance, prompting him to grit his teeth. He had to get to the bottom of this. Soon he arrived at a door and promptly opened it before stepping out to find himself in an office. Judging by the tense faces of those in the room and the loud shouts from outside, David knew the situation was dire. If things went sideways, he had to make sure that all his time in the police station wouldn't be wasted. Mentally preparing himself for what was to come, he walked out of the office just in time to see a familiar face that made him feel instant disgust. "Who the hell arrested my guest!... Let him come out now and explain himself!" Diego said in anger, not bothering to restrict his oppressive martial pressure. David instinctively gulped despite the hatred in his heart as he stepped forward. "It's me." He boldly spoke up prompting Diego to turn in his direction, staring daggers at him. "It was you?" Diego asked for confirmation. David took a deep breath before replying calmly. "Yes." "How dare you!" Diego marched towards him and grabbed his head or at least, attempted to. David closed his eyes, expecting to feel a bit of pain but nothing happened as an authoritative voice was heard. "What the hell is happening here?" David grinned as he swiftly opened his eyes and turned in a particular direction. The police station was located in a four-storey building. Currently, he was on the second floor along with Diego. Coming down the stairs connecting the second and third floor was a man wearing a uniform. Possessing a sharp gaze, the man walked with a dignified and arrogant posture. "Tch, Vincent, it's you," Diego remarked while clicking his tongue. Vincent met Diego's gaze as he replied. "Indeed it is. So now will you tell me why you are bringing up a ruckus in this station?... Is it an oversight or you just don't put me in your eyes anymore?" "Hmm." Diego's expression slowly turned into a frown as he stared at Vincent. Vincent didn't even bother to rescind his words as he stepped down the stairs and made his way to David. "Tell me?... What's happening here?" Cajoled into replying, David tersely replied. "I arrested a young boy who was getting in the way of my investigation into the death of Mira Campbell and placed him in a holding cell to teach him the error of his ways. Now, Mr. Martinez is here asking why I placed his guest in a cell, making me wonder if it's status to determines if someone is fit to be arrested." His words were eloquent, trying, and exceptional, succeeding in placing Diego in the wrong. Despite his calm expression, inwardly, David was already looking forward to the confrontation between Diego and Vincent. Having heard David's explanation, Vincent turned to Diego. "Did you hear that?" "..." Diego remained silent, seemingly pondering something. "This institute was created to ensure laws are followed and no one is exempt. Not even your guest, Diego." "Is that so?" Diego inquired with a raised brow. "Hmmph, we are friends but I urge you to not overdo things. It makes you look bad, honestly." "Heh, alright then. Come, I'll explain the situation for you." Vincent raised a brow, confused at Diego's actions. To be honest, he was surprised that Diego was causing such a nuisance. The Diego he knew was a calm and responsible man with daughter issues. To see such a man causing such a ruckus was indeed beyond him. Pursing his lips, Vincent decided to hear Diego out as he came closer and leaned in to Diego. The latter turned and whispered something into his ear. With each word spoken, Vincent's expression shifted and his eyes went wide. By the time Diego pulled away, Vincent's expression had completely changed. His mouth was wide open and it took a couple of minutes before he was able to regain himself. Just then, the sound of a door opening was heard and Marcus was revealed to the crowd, escorted by two terrified officers. With a casual tone, Marcus remarked. "Hey, Uncle. What are you doing here?" "..." Silence reigned after his words as everyone stared at him, unsure of what to make of the situation. Of course, not everyone understood the situation clearly. For Vincent, his silence was a result of the unbelievable news he had just received from Diego. If it was as he heard, he honestly couldn't even begin to understand what would happen. Slowly but surely, he turned and made his way over to Marcus, passing by David as though he were nothing to begin with. At the same time, David felt a deep sense of foreboding creep up his spine, causing him to contemplate running almost immediately but knowing fully well he won't be able to run far, he stood in place, silently biding his time. Meanwhile, Vincent soon arrived before Marcus and stood in place, silently gazing at the young man. "Uhmm…" Marcus raised a brow, slightly flustered by the drilling stare. "Is there a problem?" "... Is it true?" Vincent asked in a dry voice. Marcus raised a brow. "Huh?" "What Diego told me, is it true?... That you are the grandson of that great figure?" At this point, Vincent's voice had begun to quiver, showing signs of hesitation. Marcus pursed his lips, seemingly unsure of how to respond for a moment. "Well, I guess?" "..." Vincent stayed silent as he stared intently at Marcus. After what seemed like a comically long period but was actually only a minute at best, he turned away from Marcus and silently made his way to David. David instinctively turned upon noticing his approach. "Sir…" Wham David's cheek suffered a resounding slap, shifting his face to the side and leaving him speechless. "You fool!... If anything had happened to that boy, I'd have had you skinned alive for a million years." Vincent scolded in a loud tone, his actions leaving everyone in the precinct completely confused and at a loss for words. The same person who a moment ago was so domineering had lost all his wits and was actually taking Diego's side. It was enough to make them question a few things but of course, none were bold enough to voice out their thoughts. Of course, none except one. "Why?" David asked as he stared at Vincent. "What?" Vincent's eyes turned wide at David's blatant disregard. "Why did you hit me?" "Huh?" "Is it because he is some big shot somewhere?" "What are you…" "This is why you bigshots disgust me so much. You preach justice and equality for the common people but never actually practice it yourselves. It's so disgusting I restrain myself from puking half of the time." "How dare you!" Vincent exclaimed as he struck David across the cheek. Naturally, David fell to the ground, the force behind Vincent's slap a bit too much for him to withstand. However, he didn't back down even as he was bleeding from his lip and half his left eye was now unnaturally red. Instead, he spat out the blood that had pooled in his mouth before glaring hatefully at Vincent. "You know amongst all of them, I thought you were different. That even if others go astray, you would always stay true to your principle but no… You turned out to be just like them. So now you leave me no choice but to do this." "What are you…" Rumble The precinct shook fervently, almost like an earthquake had struck, leaving everyone except David with a perplexed look. David chuckled. "This is the beginning. I hope you enjoy the show." Boom
