Chapter 8: Unmatched
"How dare you come here? Get lost!" Roslyn frowned.
Kevin held her hand calmly and firmly.
"Roslyn, I love you. It was Lilly's seduction that made me make the same mistake that all men in the world would make. I've broken up with her. Let's start over again and I promise to live a good life in the future," he simply confessed as if his philandering episode had been the most innocuous thing to do.
She quickly pulled her hand away in disgust.
"Who wants to start over with you? I already have a husband, don't bother me."
"Are you talking about the man who showed up at the wedding yesterday?" Kevin's teeth itched with jealousy when he thought of Dan Panter.
That man came out of nowhere and got him kicked out of the wedding. He did not think that he was wrong for cheating, he just hated others for ruining his good fortune. He kept pestering her.
"Roslyn, I know you love me, and you deliberately found a man to make me jealous. Now stop being childish. You made me lose face yesterday. Let's call it a day and no one will mention it again, okay?"
"Lilly has left Boston. She will no longer appear in our lives. Let's start over..." He continued when she did not respond.
He wanted to get over this matter with a few words, just like he had done before. It would be best if he could coax her to go to the Civil Registry to get the marriage certificate that day.
As long as the two of them became legal husband and wife, whose wedding would she prefer?
Apparently, he had thought about his plan, but Roslyn had already seen through his ugly face.
"Want to reconcile? Dream on! I, Roslyn Brown, would rather marry a pig or a dog than marry you, Kevin Trenton! Give up this idea." She sneered at him.
Roslyn had a gentle personality, but if she was determined, she would never look back.
Seeing that there was no hope of reconciliation, Kevin immediately resorted to vulgar language.
"My mother is right, you are a b***h, what with the impromptu replacement of the groom? Apparently, you have been hooking up with each other behind my back for a long time, and you plotted against me to make me lose face and money... Roslyn, you have to compensate me for mental damages, the humiliation I suffered yesterday cannot be let go without serious repercussions!"
She did not waste any words with him, and slapped him in the face. "Get out!"
He gritted his teeth and swore. "What I can't get, I can't let others get it."
He suddenly hugged her and pushed his stinky mouth into her face.
She struggled desperately, pushing and kicking. Unfortunately, she was not as strong as him. His intention was to kiss her by force.
Just at that moment while she was still struggling, a gust of cold wind blew in her face as the car door opened. Kevin was suddenly grabbed by the back of the neck and dragged out of the car amidst heavyweight punches on the face.
Though he became dizzy and saw several stars in front of his eyes, he was more furious.
"Get out of here, the two of us are lovers! Why are you meddling in our business, you braggart?" He blurted out, shaking with rage, trying to intimidate Dan.
Dan frowned slightly as he took a step forward.
"Who do you say is a braggart, huh?"
His aura was strong, and his hawk-like eyes were shining with coldness, which scared Kevin so much that his heart trembled.
"You, you guys wait, this matter is not over!" Kevin threatened as he took off crawling.
Dan's beautiful eyes narrowed slightly, and a hint of fierceness flashed across them, but it was fleeting and soon returned to normal. He turned back to Roslyn.
"Are you okay?"
"I'm fine, thank you!"
"I'm your husband, you don't have to thank me."
"Yeah. "
Her clothes had been wrinkled during the fight with Kevin. She was afraid that her parents would be worried if she went back to see them in such attire.
So she suggested going to the mall to buy a set of clothes to change. Dan agreed and accompanied her. However, he took her to the store he often went to.
She was perplexed to realize that the store was not only expensive, but was also niche and membership-based.
To become a member, one not only needed a lot of money, but they also set various thresholds for membership. If the conditions were not met, it would be useless even if one had a lot of money.
The Brandon family was considered to be well-known in Boston, yet they were not qualified to join.
"How did you become a member of this store?" She voiced her concern.
