Chapter 7: Overprotective wife?
Roslyn looked at the bag in his hand, and he handed it over to her.
"Your clothes, take them back and try them on."
"You bought me clothes?" She was delighted. She was just worrying about how to go out in a while, and she did not expect the him to buy clothes for her.
"Thank you, husband."
She used the address very naturally, but she realized that Dan did not respond. She was a little embarrassed, and two red clouds appeared on her pretty face, which was very cute. She lowered her head and took the clothes and walked back to the room quickly.
There were a lot of clothes in the bag, from underwear to outerwear, and the sizes were also suitable. Thinking of this, her blush on her face became more obvious.
When she changed her clothes and came out, Dan's eyes lit up.
A white waist dress set off her perfect figure, which was sexy and enchanting, dignified but not dull.
Purity and temptation appeared on her at the same time, beautiful but not inconsistent, with an indescribable charm.
Dan felt a small flame stirring in his heart. He took a step forward, but she took two steps back and gestured to her cell phone.
"My parents asked us to go back for dinner. Shall we go now?"
"If we go to your house now, won't we have to wait three days to get home?" Dan frowned slightly.
"Yes, but they said they have something urgent to discuss with us, so they asked us to go back today. Don't you want to go?"
If he did not want to go, she would go back by herself.
She knew that her parents were worried about her. The previous day's wedding was too dramatic, a plot that would hardly appear in TV dramas. No one would be able to accept it.
* * * * *
That night after the wedding, Brandon and his wife hardly slept. They spent most part of the night to investigate the background of their son-in-law.
The result of the investigation was that the groom who appeared at the wedding was called Dan Panter. He had been doing odd jobs since graduating from college. He was an ordinary worker without any bad habits, no parents, and even no friends.
There was only one grandfather in his family. The two depended on each other. It was his grandfather who raised him by picking up waste.
The son-in-law's background was too clean, as clean as a blank sheet of paper. Such a background made Roslyn's parents feel a little relieved. It did not matter whether the family had money or not, what mattered was the character!
As long as the son-in-law had good character, the daughter's future life would be happy. Kevin was an example as he had taught them that not all that glittered was gold. They concluded that character was something that needed to be observed, which, in essence, required more contact.
Consequently, they called their daughter and her husband and invited them home for dinner for this purpose of observing him more.
Little did they know that the information that they could investigate was all sorted out by Bob Fox for them to find. Although that guy was a chatterbox and loved gossip, he never had any problems in dealing with serious matters. He therefore fed them with the only information he wanted them to know.
Dan knew that her parents wanted to know him, and it was understandable that they cared about their daughter.
"Okay, I'll go back with you," he consented.
"Really? Thank you...you!"
She wanted to call him husband, but then she thought of the embarrassment of the previous night. She changed the words abruptly on second thoughts.
"Call me husband," he surprised her as if he had read her mind.
She was taken aback as to why he would make such a strange request.
If she had asked him, she could have been flabbergasted to know that from since he was a toddler, there were no words like "husband" and "wife" in his family environment. Everyone was always serious and addressed each other in a very official way.
He addressed his parents as father and mother. His mother addressed his father as "Mr." and his father addressed his mother as "Madam." This was not only true for his parents, but also for other couples in the family.
Given that the word "husband" was very unfamiliar to him, why did it feel so familiar now? He wondered silently.
"Okay, husband, let's go back now. Oh, you don't know, the sweet and sour pork ribs made by my mother are delicious. They are sumptuously marvelous! I haven't eaten them for half a month. I dreamed about them last night. You will definitely like them..."
She jumped in front of him, grabbed his arms with both hands and shook them. She was already impatient to go back.
Dan was not used to this way of getting along. He pulled his arms out of her hands lightly.
"Ok, wait for me, I'll go prepare some gifts," he said blushing, rather awkwardly.
The new son-in-law did not go back empty-handed when he entered his father-in-law's house for the first time. This is the most basic etiquette, and Dan Panter would not be rude.
"We can just buy some fruit on the way back. Mom and Dad don't need anything." Roslyn thought that Dan worked in a bar and his salary was not that much. She did not want him to spend more money. She also wanted to take care of her husband's self-esteem and did not make it that obvious.
On the way back, the two of them passed by a fruit shop. Dan asked her to wait for him in the car, and he got out and entered the shop.
Dan had barely left when the door of the cab was suddenly opened, and someone got in.
It was Kevin, her shameless ex!
