"Good, now that I have your attention once again, can we begin?"
"Yes, Pam!" They muttered.
"The first five please step forward and no it doesn't have to be in the same order as yesterday. Basically, whoever wants to go first, step forward."
Vernon watched a couple of students walk forward and not surprisingly they were those who had done remotely better than the rest which meant Nevil and Jane were a part of this batch.
Pam gave the signal and they got to work, each of them straining hard. Well, it soon came to an end and there wasn't much improvement from the day before. Everybody clapped and the next batch stepped up. They were four in number like last time. Vernon didn't join this batch and he wasn't sure if he would join the next one.
The next set was over very quickly, maybe because it dawned on everyone within the first two minutes that nothing was going to happen and that they were basically staring at four kids staring at seeds.
"Would you take part?" Pam asked, looking at him as the remaining members of the group stepped forward.
Vernon nodded and joined them, making them three. Seeds were placed in front of them and they did just as badly as the previous group, only this time one of them managed to c***k their seed. It sure wasn't Vernon's seed.
Pam gave the group a couple of minutes before she went into the next routine, stretching out tree branches and vines till they couldn't or ran out of Mana. This was mostly what they did for the most part of the training.
By the end of the day, Vernon was exhausted and all he could think about was getting some sleep. His body felt like someone had beaten him with a log of wood while he was running for his life.
He could barely contain his happiness when the day finally came to an end and was one of the first to run out of the courtyard. One thing was certain, he was hungry but still, his exhaustion did not hide his happiness.
He had not been able to do too much as Pam wouldn't let him and now he was glad she didn't because he felt like a worn out toy, he couldn't begin to comprehend what would have happened if she had let him do as he liked. He would have probably ended up unconscious like the first time.
He had run out of the courtyard but as he slowly approached the residence, he slowed down. His legs felt so heavy they hardly moved in the way he wanted them to. He just wanted to eat and sleep. Thankfully, the first dinner was in a couple of minutes.
He got to the room and took off his training outfit and placed them in the corner, somebody would be there to pick them up soon and he changed to regular clothes. They were basically the same with everyone but they were called regular because it was usually worn after training.
No sooner was he out of his clothes and comfortable in his bed when he heard the words, "Vernon, Vivk is asking for you."
His face morphed instantly and it was obvious to anyone that he wasn't pleased about it. "Did he say why?" He asked, glaring at the messenger even though he knew it wasn't his fault.
"Nope," the boy said and pranced away without a second glance in Vernon's direction. The boy in question was one of the youngest that actually took training. The rest just played around.
Vernon wanted to yell at him for more details but the boy was already out the door and Vernon didn't really exactly have anything to ask. He also seriously doubted the boy could tell him more. He had looked like the only reason he had gone on this errand was there was a prize for him and had eagerly run off to go get it.
Vernon groggily got out of bed, making sure to take his time. He wondered what this was about and hoped it wouldn't be too long that he would miss dinner because that was all he was worried about, that was the reason he wasn't asleep yet.
As he left the room his eyes caught the pillars that liked up the oath to Vivk's section. The residence was way bigger than he had time to notice, everything seemed gigantic, nothing like had ever seen before and he realized this was the first time he was paying attention to such details.
The ceiling was so high that he was sure even if he was given a very tall ladder he wouldn't reach. He couldn't deny the beauty of it all, at least that part had not escaped his senses but couldn't care at all for that, and as he walked he prayed the bell wouldn't go off.
He got to Vick's in no time and knocked softly. There was no answer. He waited for a few seconds before knocking again and still there was no answer. Annoyed, he banged on the door with the heel of his palm. The noise was so loud it echoed all around him.
Vernon felt himself jerk back in surprise just as the door pulled open to reveal Vivk. "What?!" He yelled with the sound of the door opening.
"You asked for me," Vernon murmured.
"Ah, yes Vernon. Do come in." Vivk replied.
Vernon found himself staring at Vivk as he walked in, they were around the same height, Vivk was just sturdier like the difference was too much it looked like Vivk was taller and he was but Vernon thought otherwise.
"Have a seat," Vivk said and closed the door. "I will be with you shortly, I just need to finish up something."
"Okay," Vernon looked around. This was the first place he had first seen Vivk and it looked very familiar, not the horrendous place that Bess had called the infirmary.
