Chapter 8 The road led to the bridge across the river, a wide expanse of churning brown water. With all the rain, the level had risen to just under the bridge. And it was still raining. If this kept up, the farm would be cut off from town soon. He rode through the main street, where there were not many cars, but more people than usual. A lot of the shops were closed, but people had set up markets under the awnings, out of the rain. There were tomatoes, eggs, lettuce and rice being traded. There was a tank full of live trout from the trout farm. Donnie lived on the edge of town, two houses up from the school.
