Chapter Thirty-Three Cindy and Adam played in the cold water of the stream. They laughed and ran, not caring that they were wet. The spring weather was overcast and not very warm yet, but the snow was gone and today was the one day a week where they were allowed outside for a few hours. This was a great time to be a kid. They were the first generation in decades to get to play outside at all. Up until a few years ago, no one under twenty years old went outside. Even then, the only ones that did were the ones confirmed to be sterile. They couldn’t risk allowing the few that could bear children to absorb any more radiation than could be avoided.
