Chapter Nine
Sam decided to try to learn something useful as he started roaming the hanger. He was counting the number of different colored lanyards. So far, he’d seen six. Also, he’d noticed that there was another large wave of people working their way through registration.
He assumed that they’d come on additional buses. The boy approached and saw five of the six lanyard tag colors present in the new arrivals and believed the colors were indicative of everyone's final destination. In his mind, he pictured dozens of locations like this around the country, actively sorting people.
After wandering for a while, he noticed a group of about twelve people in chairs pulled into a loose circle. He walked closer; they were deep in conversation. Most importantly, however, there was a variety of
