Unsure and a little rattled at the sudden turn of deep emotions he wasn’t prepared to deal with, Nate could only give a small nod of acknowledgement and step past Donner. The warmth from the lobby didn’t begin to compare to the heat he’d glimpsed in Donner’s gaze seconds before.
