Chapter One
Hands tapping the steering wheel patiently, Zoie sat in her black 2014 Jeep Wrangler and watched the door to room 226 intensely awaiting the arrival of the familiar man she had grown to love. 3 years after the death of her mother, Zoie moved into a small two bedroom apartment on the lower east side of New York with the man of her dreams. During the first 2 years of the relationship, Zoie felt relaxed and comfortable being with him. However, she soon began to notice the behavior between him and her closest friend.  Zoie met Phoebe a day after her mom's funeral. She had been living in the neighborhood for some time and presented herself as their neighbor. From that second on, Zoie and Phoebe's acquaintanceship developed into a companionship. Phoebe had turned into Zoie's sister.  Since last year, Zoie had noticed the exchanged glances between Chris and Phoebe. However, Zoie pushed the prospect of both of them having something going on to the rear of her brain since she had more pressing issues to stress over.  Zoie found that she contained something that was not in a tiny smidgen of customary. For quite a long time, Zoie heard the voices of seemingly many individuals at the same time. As she arrived at the age of 17, the voices stopped. On her 20th birthday celebration, Zoie began to move objects with her brain. Zoie spent the remainder of the year figuring out how to control the forces she had and never told a spirit - including her two sisters, Kira and Simone. Zoie saw that Phoebe stopped coming around frequently. Chris began to remove himself from her and would come home late. There were receipts found of gifts and hotel rooms. Every Friday, Chris would return home from work early and talk about investing energy with his friends at one of their homes. He would put a kiss upon Zoie's cheek and leave for the night to invest energy with his companions yet Zoie knew reality. She followed Chris as he maneuvered into the parking parking lot of the Motel 6. She was stunned to see that he was not at the home to one of his companions and surprisingly more stunned to see Phoebe make her way to the door and welcome him with a kiss. For quite a long time, he would meet Phoebe at the room, particularly room 226, and return home on Saturdays as if nothing occurred. It would end today.  Zoie grinned delicately as her eyes laid on Chris who strolled towards the room holding a bunch of delightful lively roses.  "He never got me roses." Zoie murmured to herself.  Chris placed the key into the door before pushing it open and entering the room. Zoie looked at Phoebe through the open blinds as she wrapped her arms around his neck and placed a kiss on his nose to his lips. Chris pulled away from Phoebe and closed the blinds not realizing that Zoie sat in the parking lot and watched from afar. Zoie didn't dare to move for the following hour. She sat discreetly and unresponsively as her beau and dearest companion double-crossed her. She stayed there and thought about Chris setting delicate kisses across Phoebe's slim figure. She contemplated Phoebe rubbing her pale hands through Chris' delicate brown hair. She thought of them yet she realized they didn't think about her. Angrily, Zoie pushed the door to her Jeep open and stormed out. She didn't look left or right as she crossed through the parking lot since her emphasis was on the 3 numbers on the door before her. Setting a hand over the peephole, Zoie set her knuckles to the white door and knocked. "Who is it?" Phoebe asked from the opposite side. Zoie said nothing as she thumped once more.  "I said who is it?" Phoebe inquired. Pulling the entryway with a yank, Zoie looked straight at Phoebe as Phoebe's eyes extended at seeing her dearest companion.  "Hi Phoebe." Zoie greeted.  "Who is it, Phobs?" Chris said as he came into Zoie's view. Chris remained there wearing nothing with the exception of the dark warm up pants that embraced his midriff.  "Chris." Zoie welcomed delicately. Pushing Phoebe back, Zoie went into the room and shut the door behind her delicately leaving Phoebe and Chris to remain there in disarray. Phoebe couldn’t bring herself to say anything. She felt ashamed and terrible for the treatment of Zoie. She knew that she was in the wrong and wanted to do nothing more but begin apologizing. However, she couldn’t bring herself to do that. It wasn’t because she was at a loss of words, it was because the lady before her looked not at all like the young lady she called her sister.  Chris slowly walked towards Phoebe as he kept his attention on the woman leaning against the wall. The coldness in Zoie’s eyes sent shivers down his spine. Slowly, he placed a hand on the lower half of Phoebe’s back to keep her calm since he noticed the fear radiating from her body language. "What a beautiful couple!" Zoie declared.  Phoebe sucked in a precarious breath. Zoie's voice was delicate as normal at this point there was this dreadfulness behind it. She sounded all around persuaded that they looked great together yet her voice sounded taunting. “Zoie, I can explain.” Chris said.  Zoie shook her head. “There’s no need, Chris. I understand already.”  “You do?” He asked.  “Of course. I understand that you cannot help who you love.” Zoie started. She could see Chris slowly beginning to relax. “I understand that you are both liars, I understand that you have been sneaking around behind my back for a very long time now, and I understand that you both deserve one another.”  “Z!” Phoebe cried.  “My sister was correct about you, Chris. You are definitely not hitting on s**t!” Zoie revealed as she smiled softly at him.  “Zoie.” Chris started. He knew that he needed to at least apologize to the woman in front of him. He adored Zoie from the start yet he had developed to cherish another.  “Yes?” Zoie replied.  “I’m sorry! I’m sorry that you had to find out this way. We should’ve been more honest with you. Phoebe didn’t want to do this at first but I convinced her so whatever you do, just please don’t hold her accountable for this.” Chris responded.  Phoebe cried softly and walked towards Zoie. Grabbing her hands, Phoebe spoke. “You have to forgive me, Z! I know this is wrong and I’m so sorry but I cannot lose you! You’re the only one who understood me and our friendship means so much to me. We both lost our parents and we created a bond so special. I can’t lose you too!”  Pulling away from the arguing lady, Zoie strolled towards the bed and remained there as Chris strolled over to Phoebe who actually remained there crying. Zoie folded her arms across her chest as she watched him comfort the lady in his arms. They leaned against the wall as he murmured something into her ear. “Beautiful!” Zoie exclaimed. “I must admit that you both look amazing together!”  “Zoie.” Chris warned but Zoie continued to speak.  “Do you hear that?” Zoie asked. Phoebe sniffed and shook her head slowly.  “We don’t hear anything, Zoie.” Chris mumbled. Zoie swore that she could hear the sound of music playing but the look on the deceiving couple’s faces said otherwise. Looking straight at them, Zoie shook her head in dismay. Phoebe's eyes augmented at the sight of Zoie's mocha colored eyes changing to black leaving her shaking in dread. "What?" Chris murmured to himself as he watched Zoie in stun.  Phoebe gazed at Zoie and before Chris could do or say anything else, the frightful sound of Phoebe's neck breaking caught his attention. Phoebe's body went limp into his arms as he shouted out in dread, fear, and hurt. Crying, Chris called out Phoebe's name with expectations of her replying back.  Zoie remained there as Chris reached into his jeans that sat on the floor close to Phoebe's dead body and pulled out the recognizable weapon. As he pointed the weapon at Zoie, she held her hand up and pointed her finger at him looking like a firearm. Confounded, Chris looked as Zoie moved her hand to her temple and he did the same. Understanding that she was now controlling his body, Zoie smirked and pretended to pull the trigger as he did the same.  Zoie watched as Chris slid down the wall and landed with a thud. Slowly, she strolled over and sat close to him totally disregarding the way that his blood embellished the walls of the hotel room. With a exhausted sigh, Zoie leaned her head onto the shoulder of Chris' dead body as Put Your Head On My Shoulder played delicately.
