The First Conversation

"I think it might be time we talked. Do you know somewhere private?" Damien asked. Amelia paled. She just knew in her heart that a rejection was coming now, but she wasn't going to let her insecurities show to someone who did not seem to care about her feelings. So, Amelia nodded, afraid her voice would fail her. Leading Damien through the back entrance of the packhouse and up to her childhood bedroom. Amelia opened her bedroom door, walking through first then signaling for Alpha Damien to follow her. Damien stepped into Amelia's room, immediately hit by a wave of her addictive vanilla and honeysuckle scent. He was entranced. Damien walked a few feet forward toward Amelia's desk, looking at each of the pictures adorning it. Pictures of her with her siblings, with her friends, one of her alone with both of her parents. He also noticed a older picture of a young Amelia with another little girl that closely resembled the young witch he met earlier today. Picking the picture and examining it closer he knew it was the same woman. "You have known the witch for a long time..." Damien spoke in more of a statement than question. Taking a few long strides Amelia snatched the picture from Damien's hands. Looking at it thoughtfully for a moment before she spoke. "Yes I have. She has a name by the way, its Cassandra." Amelia spat, looking up at Damien. "I didn't mean to offend, I just don't fully trust witches. I hired a couple in the past and I feel most are intentionally misleading or withholding." Damien accused. "There is a difference in light witches and dark witches, Alpha... light witches can not intentionally lie. Sometimes they withhold information if they feel it may effect the future, but they would never deliberately lead anyone but an evil soul in the wrong direction. Also, they all have different powers, meaning the one's you hired may not have necessarily have the powers to detect dark witches that have concealing powers." Amelia countered angrily. It was Damien's turn to pale, he found out more information about dark witches from his second chance mate in one angry rant than the Council or his intelligence provided him since the war. "Dark witches can conceal their magic, I didn't know?" Alpha Damien asked Amelia astonished. "A few can.... I heard Cas, that is Cassandra's nickname, and my uncle talking about dark magic concealment earlier. My uncle Terence has been exchanging reading ancient witch scripts for fresh honey and herbs Cas's coven uses for spells, salves, and teas, for a few years. He is the pack historian, but also raises honey bees and helps with the gardens. Cas is a history buff so they get into some intense discussions when she visits." Amelia tells him with a chuckle, the sound mellifluous to Damien's ear. "Do you think either of them would be willing to meet with me or allow me to read the documents about dark witches concealing their magic?" Damien asked hopefully. "We think a dark witch worked against us in our last war, but the light witch I hired could not find traces." "I am sure Uncle Terri would after he finishes the book. Cas is an invaluable resource of information on witches magic, but she is also more skeptical of giving council to strangers." Amelia admitted with a shrug. Damien nodded, staring deeply into Amelia's eyes. They were so vibrantly green. They showed every emotion she felt. She was so different than Alison but he felt himself attracted more to her than he remembered being with his first mate. That scared Damien, he wanted Amelia, he wanted to know what her skin felt like under his touch, her taste, and the sounds of her moans writhing under him. Shaking his head lightly to clear his head Alpha Damien turned and walked a few steps deeper into Amelia's room. "I am sorry I haven't spoke to you before now, this has not been my finest hour." Damien said turning to look at Amelia. She did not say anything, staring at Damien with knitted eyebrows. "I never expected the Goddess would give me another mate." He admitted in a whisper. "It must have been excruciating to lose her like that." Amelia said with a mournful smile. "It was..." Damien said sorrowfully. They stood there silently for an awkward minute. Alpha Damien flashing back to Alison's death, while Amelia was wondering where the conversation was headed. "Well, I'm sorry for that but it doesn't excuse the way you have treated my pack." Amelia said firmly. Alpha Damien's brow creased in confusion. "What do you mean 'the way I treated your pack'?" Damien questioned. Amelia sighed deeply. "You hit my brother, our future Alpha, and my co-worker, Eric, who is the male lead for my team." Amelia said. "Aaron was a misunderstanding." Damien admitted stepping closer to Amelia. "I didn't realize he was your brother. Rider's jealousy took over." "Rider?" Amelia asked. Rider purred loudly in Damien's mind hearing his mate utter his name from her soft pink lips. "My wolf," Damien answered. "And what happened with Eric?" Amelia asked breathlessly. Winnie was also purring loudly at the mention of Rider, and Amelia feeling a little giddy from learning Damien's wolf's name. "He is an ass, he grew up in my pack. We never liked eachother growing up." Damien said, stepping even closer to Amelia. Amelia searched her mind, remembering when she was younger. Eric and his mother first moved back to her pack when she was 13 and he was about 16. Her brother showed him around because his father was a warrior, and had died in combat for an ally pack. Eric trained with her brother sometimes, that was how he became a efficient enough warrior to make Male Team Lead for the Martial Arts Combat Sector. Amelia shrugged her shoulders looking at a paper on her desk, she knew Damien was fishing for more information on the closeness of her and Eric's relationship. "I remember when he moved here, when I was in middle school. My brother, Alex, showed him around since they were in the same grade. We never said more than a passing 'Hey' till we were assigned to the same team at work. He said his father died in combat, that happened in your pack?" Amelia asked. Damien took another step closer to Amelia, close enough to reach out a stroke her silky smooth skin, he looked down upon her vibrant green eyes. "He died defending against a huge rouge attack. We lost almost a dozen men that day. His mother was deeply depressed and needed help, so she asked my father to release them to join her sisters pack... Your pack." "Faith and Love's mom...." Amelia whispered to herself. "Who are Faith and Love?" Damien asked curiously. "Friends." Was all she told him, picking up a picture with her and a pair of identical twins with short, dark brown hair. "Where is this going Alpha?" Amelia suddenly asked with new determination in her voice. Taken aback by her tone, Alpha Damien scrunched his brow. Amelia sensing his confusion took a deep breath before explaining further. "You act jealous if I speak with other men, yet you have not spoken to me until now. You seemed angry downstairs when Eric was talking to me, yet you say 'it might be time we talked and somewhere in private' when I confronted you. Making it seem like a rejection is coming, specially with it being Full Moon tonight I assumed that was where this conversation was going, but now your just making small talk! So tell me now, Alpha, WHERE IS THIS GOING? And stop wasting my time." Amelia asked with much hostility.
