Amelia Night, the beautiful, kind daughter of a well respected Alpha in Southeastern United States, always dreamed of meeting her mate. When her father and brother invited her to go to an Alpha meeting she was elated. She was so hopeful she even packed extra clothes incase she met her mate, and went back to his pack. On the flight to the Werewolf Council, she talked her brother's ear off about how happy she would be to find her mate. Amelia had been anxiously looking for him since she first shifted a year ago.
She walked towards the meeting hall, arm-in-arm with her brother, the packs next Alpha, Aaron Night. He asked his father to invite Amelia to accompany him since his mate was heavily pregnant with their first child, and afraid to travel far from the pack hospital. Amelia seemed nervous, Aaron knew there was a chance that she would meet her mate here. His sisters, Ava and Ada, had met their mate at an Alpha meeting three years ago. Amelia has such a kind soul he worries about what kind of mate she will be gifted.
His father, Alpha Travis Night of the Cresent Moon Pack, opens the front door to the meeting hall for his son and daughter. They all enter the foyer and sign in at the table, taking their name cards and finding their table number. Amelia knew already that her mate was here. She could smell him as soon as she walked through the door. The excitement and nerves radiating off her was all to noticeable to her father and brother. They gave eachother a hesitant look before making their way to the doors of the ball room.
Amelia swung the door open searching for the culprit of the alluring smell. No one seemed to stand out to her until she saw him. Tall and muscular, with shoulder length dark hair. Standing in the back corner of the room looking at her with wide shocked eyes. A smile grew on her face, this was the moment she had been waiting to experience for a little over a year now.
She started towards him only to stop in her tracks when he scowled and shook his head 'no', turning around and walking away quickly. What the hell, Amelia thought. Was something wrong with her? Was he going to reject her? Did he not find her attractive? Her dress was a little tighter than her normal clothes but her brother's mate, Isabella, promised if she met her mate he would love the way it hugs her curves. She didn't understand why he would just walk away the moment they found eachother. It broke her heart into a million pieces, she felt the pain of rejection without ever even speaking to her mate. She didn't even know his name, or what pack he is from.
Her father put is hand on her shoulder, she turned to him, misty eyed. It was then she realized everyone in the room was watching her. They all saw her heart break. Amelia ran out of the ball room and towards the bathroom. She shouldn't have come here. She might have never met her mate, but she also would have never experienced this embarrassment and emotional terminal.
Amelia slid down the wall in the bathroom stall, trying not to cry. Her wolf, Winnie was whinning in her head, the hurt too much to bear. Maybe she could just stay in here till the Alpha meeting was over, or maybe she could get a Uber back to the hotel. Yeah, that's what she'll do. She thought.
Aaron can you bring me my hotel key and phone. I can't sit out there with everyone knowing I was rejected. Amelia mindlinks her brother.
I'll be right there Aaron mindlinked back.
Amelia started to get up when she heard someone entering the bathroom. It couldn't be Aaron already, she had just cut their link.
"Hello, are you in here miss?" A woman's voice calls to her from across the room.
Amelia stiffened, she didn't want to talk to some stranger about what happened. Maybe if she doesn't answer and stays quiet the lady will leave her alone.
"Miss..." The lady said again, this time her voice was noticeably closer to Amelia's stall. The lady knew she was in there and apparently won't take a hint.
Amelia let out an exhausted breath and opened the stall door, stepping into view. Infront of her was a gorgeous tall, dark-haired beauty with bright kind eyes looking at her with pity. That's the look she was trying to avoid. She didn't want everyone staring at her with pity all night.
"Hi, my name is Claire. Are you okay? Do you need anything?" The lady, she now knew as Claire said.
"I'll be alright" was Amelia's only response.
"What's your name?" Claire asked.
"Amelia...... Amelia Night" she said, her voice laced with sorrow.
Just then Aaron knocks on the bathroom door. Claire must have locked it to give them privacy, Amelia didn't even hear the lock click because she was so busy feeling sorry for herself. If it had been an enemy pack they would have had one leg up on her, she smells of an ally pack though.
Amelia opened the door and Aaron stepped inside, side eyeing Claire.
"Claire," He addressed her first.
"Alpha Night," Claire said with a bow of her head.
"You know eachother?" Amelia asked, looking back and forth between them.
"I met all the ranked wolves of our ally packs on my tour two years ago. Claire is a Beta."
She looked at Claire, she had her head down and was staring at the floor nervously now. "What pack do you belong to?" She asked Claire.
"Same pack as your so called mate, the New Moon Pack" Aaron answered for her, his eyes burning holes into Claire. Amelia looked at her intently.
"Who is he, who is my mate?" She asked her. Amelia wanted Claire to tell her. She came looking for her obviously because she knew a ranked pack member of theirs is Amelia's mate. She needed to know if he sent Claire or if she came of her own will. She looks Amelia square in the eye, mixed emotions rolling off her in waves and says...
"My Alpha"
