Chapter 5: Mine

Sam's P.O.V.

I just got out of my meeting with Alpha William. I had one of our trusted car detailers pick up my truck to get the blood out of the seat. I also had to call a dealership and have a rental dropped off while my car is being cleaned. Luckily it was already waiting for me in front of the building by the time the meeting was over. For some reason Kai didn't even show up for his part of the meeting. That wasn't like him. I'd have to figure that out later. I decided I'd go check on Elora since I told her parents I would look out for her. I can't go back on my word. I walked into the pack hospital when I smelled the most intoxicating scent....but just barely. I had to find where it was coming from. I completely forgot why I was even at the pack hospital to begin with. That is until I got to the door. Elora's door? She's my Mate?

That's not possible I had her in my arms just a few hours ago and there was no mate bond. Sure I thought she was extremely beautiful and I was of course attracted to her. But the Mate bond wasn't there. I was so confused. I just stood there. I was frozen, until my wolf Abel took over and pushed the door open to see... No one. Where is she?

As I pushed Abel to the back of my head I turned to look for Dr. Callan. I found him around the corner speaking to a nurse. "Dr. Callan. What happened to the woman I brought in?" I asked him in a concerned tone. "Ah yes sorry Beta I forgot to call you. She woke up and decided to have a friend take her home. She started to heal surprisingly quick for someone without a mate, almost an hour after you left." He responded. "Do you know where she lives? I'd like to go check on her. I told her parents I'd keep an eye on her." I told the Doctor. "Well we took a copy of her ID to help fill out paper work when you first brought her. But we aren't really supposed to give that information out." Dr. Callan said calmly with a smile. That wasn't the answer Abel wanted to hear. He pushed to the surface. He wanted his mate, and he wanted her NOW. Abel forced a growl out of my teeth. I again had to force him back. I don't know if I could continue to keep him contained much longer if we don't get the answers we want.

I got into Dr. Callan's face. "I suggest you go get that copy. Or I will not hesitate to let My Wolf do as he pleases. And trust me Doctor you don't want that. She is MY MATE. She wasn't when I brought her here..." I said starting to confuse myself. "But she is now and now i know. So I'd like to find her. Please and thank you." And with that the Doctor went to get the copy of Elora's ID that also had her home address. I'm finally going to meet my Mate. I've been waiting since the day I turned 18. Im 23 now. I cant wait any longer I have to find her. I sped to her house and jumped out of the car. I walked up her door ready to knock. My hands were trembling from excitement. It's finally going to happen for me. It's finally my turn. After a couple seconds of standing at the door I knocked. I waited. Nothing. I knocked again, and still nothing. She's not home. f**k! Just my luck. After a couple minutes I got in my rental car and drove home to the pack house. The pack house is where ranked members and their family's live along with our Mates. If I was going to find Elora I had to wake up early tomorrow and try to find her at the college campus. The next morning I went and parked my rental car in the parking lot I had first seen Elora in. As I got out of my car it hit me. That intoxicating scent of hers. I couldn't get enough of it. I started walking towards it daydreaming of my mate. I was quickly pulled back to reality when I realized the scent was coming from the trail of blood from yesterday. I started to boil with anger just thinking about the condition she was in when I found her. Then it clicked she had keys in her hand she was trying to get to her car. I looked around there were already a few cars parked and more pouring in. "We should wait here for her. Her scent is faint but here. Her car must be here" Abel said to me. "That could be her blood you smell." I responded. But he was right.. Her scent was further into the parking lot. I followed it and found the car I assumed to be hers. Abel was right. "Alright we'll do what you wanted and wait for her here." I moved my car closer to hers and prepared myself to meet my gift from the Moon Goddess.

Elora's POV

When I woke up in the morning my nose was immediately filled with the smell of pancakes. Then after the pancakes came the smell of sausages. I quickly jumped out of bed excited Sofi loves to cook. "Smells good" I said with a smile on my face. "Ugghh thanks I try. Plus I felt like you could use a good breakfast before I drop you back off at your place on the way to campus." She said smiling back at me. "What do you mean I'm going to go to my classes today." I told her in a firm tone. "Ella.... please just stay home today you had a long day yesterday and not a good one at that. Please for me?" She asked. " Look Sofi....I can't just run from them. Yes they cornered me, but I'll be ready next time. I refuse to let them get the best of me again. They're not going to do that to me again. I won't let it happen. I promise. You have nothing to worry about." I told her. She nodded her head and we hangout for a while. We both got ready and left. We got to campus and went to our first class. After an hour the class is over and its already lunch time. I decided to see if Sofi wanted to go eat somewhere rather than eating on campus. She had some stuff to research and she needed to go to the library so I decided to head out without her. As I'm starting to walk towards the entrance and exit doors I look up and I can see Kai and Ava walking ahead of me holding hands and laughing. Ugh of course. I just ignored them and kept walking the way I was going. But they were going to the parking lot like I was! Great I just hope they leave me alone.

They were about 20 feet ahead of me and went out the doors first. By the time I got to the doors and made it outside they were Across from my car. Why? I could see Kai was talking to someone but he was in the way so I couldn't see who it was. And then suddenly the wind blew a slight breeze past me and I could smell the most amazing, and intoxicating smell or rain mixed with blueberries. It was beckoning me to come and find it. Just then it clicked and I noticed where it was coming from. And no sooner then I noticed did the man forcefully push Kai out of his way to see me. He was tall and very muscular. I could see his arms were covered in tattoos. His hair was black and curly just long enough to run your fingers thought it. His cheek bones were high and his teeth were perfect. He was looking me straight into my eyes with his beautiful dark forest green eyes. I was lost in them. Then I realized it's the same scent I had smelled before I passed out yesterday in the parking lot. Beta Sam is my Mate? My second chance?

Sam's POV

As I'm waiting for Elora in the parking lot I see Kai. I decided I'd ask him why he didn't show up for the meeting. He was of course with Ava. She's always been a terrible person when he isn't around. She uses they're relationship to get what she wants and manipulate people into doing things for her. She disgusts me personally but Kai is in love with her. He also won't believe a word anyone says about her if its negative. They've been together for years but he hasn't marked her. I always found that odd given that they are supposedly mates. At least that's what they like to say. Who knows. "Where were you yesterday bro? We were talking about the meeting with our Allies, it will be at the pack house. We're going to be having a feast tomorrow to welcome them." I told him as I got out of the car. "Oh hey Sam, yea about that...I had a long day I completely forgot and was dealing with a problem. My bad man it won't happen again. And I'll go talk to Will about it right n-" Shes here. I could smell her she was straight ahead. I didn't even think. I shoved Kai to the side. I had to see her and he was in my way. Abel let out a low growl "Mate!"

Kais P.O.V.

"What the hell Sam? What's your problem?" I yelled at Sam after he shoved me off to the side. Then he lets out a growl and says something I didn't expect "Mate". No way this is great for him! He has been waiting to be with his Mate for years now. I'm happy for him! Or at least I was for a moment. Until I turned to see who he was looking at. Elora? No. It cant be. She just accepted my rejection yesterday. There's no way the Moon Goddess would give someone as weak as her a second chance so soon. This cant be real! Why is this upsetting me so much? Whatever I still have Ava. And Elora doesn't compare to her. We quickly got in my car and went to the pack house so I could talk to Will.

Elora's P.O.V.

He took my breath away with the look he was giving me. His eyes were filled with lust and adoration. It was like nothing else existed. We started walking to each other. I had never actually met him before. Why would I? I never would've have guessed I would get a second chance so soon. My mind was racing. My heart was beating faster and faster the closer we got. I could feel Scarlett emerge to look through our eyes. OUR heart was racing! I could feel her excitement at the sight of him. Goddess he was the most handsome man I had ever seen. "Scarlett how is this possible? Why would The Moon Goddess bless us with....HIM. He's perfect. I don't understand." I asked her. "The Moon Goddess has her reasons. We are stronger then you know Elora. Never forget that. You will learn for yourself soon enough." She replied to me. Her words lifted me even more. I felt like I was floating he is getting so close... But there is that doubt in the back of my head still. What if he thinks I'm weak like Kai did? What if he waits to reject me? I need to protect not only myself from another heart break but Scarlett too.

Sam's P.O.V.

As I start walking up to her I hear Kai yell at me but I don't care. My mind is on her. This is my first time getting a good look at her. She is the most beautiful woman I'd ever seen. She was petite, with wavy fire red hair that shines in the sun. She had pink lips and rosey checks. Her eyes were light blue like the sky, but had a dark blue ring around it like the ocean. She was breathtaking. Her scent of strawberries was so sweet just like her. As soon as I got up to her I grabbed her with one hand by the waist and with the other hand I caressed her cheek. I needed more of her scent. I wanted my scent all over her. She is mine now! And I am not planning on letting her go. Never! I buried my nose in her neck and took a deep breath like she was my oxygen and if I didn't get her I would suffocate. Goddess I could take her right now in this parking lot but the thought of another man seeing her makes my blood boil. Just as the thought passes she tries to pull away but I don't let her. I pull her closer. I take a deep breath once more. Her scent is hypnotic to me. Another growl escapes as I whisper in her ear "Mine."
