The Hybrid of Silverlake

It has officially been an entire week since my 18th birthday, and I still haven't been able to shift into my wolf. Why me? It's just my luck! What am I going to tell people at school now that spring break is over? I can't tell them she refuses to come out. They'd think there was something wrong with me. Is there something wrong with me? My parents said it wasn't unheard of. They said "sometimes it takes up to 2 weeks after your 18th birthday". At least I can communicate with her. Not that she'll tell me why she won't come out yet, but it's nice to know she's there. I've been visiting my favorite Aunts pack for my 18th birthday. She lives in the most powerful pack The BloodMoon pack. They won't let outsiders in their town walls unless they're Alpha, Alpha Cyrus, allows it. Lucky for me I've been coming here since my Aunt Maggie found her mate James, and moved in with him 12 years ago. Aunt Maggie offered to give me a makeover for my 18th birthday! She is an amazing Beautician and even runs her own salon. I want to look my best when I find my mate of course so I anxiously agreed. The week is coming to an end. Its time to head back home. "Just remember to use those products I got you! They're not only going to make your hair shine but also your wolfs fur coat shine like sun on water!" Aunt Maggie shouted as I got in my parents car. "Thank you! You're the best! Love you!" I yelled as my parents waved goodbye and proceeded to back out of the driveway. "Did you have fun?" My Dad asked. "So much fun" I responded partially lying and hoping the conversation would end there. I was wrong of course. "So... Any progress with your first shift sweety?" My Mother asked sounding anxious and excited. "Well... I umm... I still haven't been able to shift yet exactly..." I huffed. "Oh well don't worry honey it'll happen soon" she said with a confidant smile on her face. I just hope I can shift before I find my mate. The last thing I want is to not be able to complete the mating ritual all because I have no shifting abilities yet. It's all I can think about on the car ride home. I roll down my window just a couple of inches to get some fresh air. I can't help but daydream about finding my mate. He will be tall, handsome, the man of my dreams and more! He will be funny, and smart. He will be the most kind person anyone has ever met. He will never hurt me. And we will live happily ever after. I hadn't realized my daydreaming changed to actual dreaming till I woke up to my parents yelling "WE'RE HOME!". They scared me so bad I jumped in my seat! They started to laugh so hard my dad tripped as he got out of the car. Now I'm laughing so hard me and my mother have to hurry to the bathroom so we don't pee ourselves from all the laughter. About 45 minutes later we had dinner and after that I went to get ready for bed. As I lay down I heard her say my name "Elora?". It's my wolf the only other time I heard her was for her to respond to a question I had asked myself "why haven't I shifted yet?" I thought. All she told me was "because we're not ready yet". What does that even mean? Of course I'm ready! It was frustrating to think that I couldn't make her come out, but I can't stay mad at her. I have to understand her and maybe I can find out why she won't come out. "Yes" I responded "I thought that since you know have some alone time we could officially introduce ourselves " she said. "Does that mean we're going to shift!?" I asked excitedly. "Well no.. but I could tell you my name. The shift will have to wait we aren't ready" she said."What do you mean?" I asked "That's not important right now" she quickly added " you will find out when you're ready just trust me. Can you do that?" "I guess I have no choice" I said bitterly. I could feel her Amusement towards my bitterness and couldn't help but smile. "My name is Scarlett" she said."It's nice to officially meet you Scarlett" I said to her. "That's a beautiful name" I added " thank you" Scarlett responded "you should get some rest we start our classes again tomorrow". We said goodnight to each other, and I couldn't help but fall asleep with a smile on my face. All thanks to Scarlett.
