Chapter Four: Accepted

Sam's P.O.V.

I was driving past the college towards the pack house when I seen a petite redhead woman slowly limping in the parking lot. She was clearly hurt. As I drove past her and got a better look I could see she had blood on her. I immediately stopped the truck and hopped out. I asked her if she was okay but before she could respond she fainted! I ran over to her. She was beautiful dispute the beating she took. Who would have done this to her and why? She looked kind. She even smelled sweet. Like... strawberries. I grabbed her purse then scooped her up in my arms and held her close. I put her in my passenger seat and buckled her in. I didn't care about the blood. I got in the driver side and sped to the pack hospital to take her to the best pack doctor. I walked through the entrance with her in my arms. They immediately give her the attention she needed. I explained how I found her and Doctor Callan gave her an anesthetic to keep her under sedation while she heals. I took her ID from her purse to find out her identity and contact family.

Her parents were on a vacation and out of town. They were extremely worried and said they'd be back by morning. After much discussion I told her parents that as Beta of the pack I will watch her since I was the one who had found her. Doctor Callan explained to her parents that she is strictly resting and healing anyways.

They reluctantly agreed to leave her in my care, thanked me, and assured me they'd be back in a few days. After 2 hours of waiting and not much progress was being made Dr. Callan came into the room. "Her healing ability isn't as strong as it should be for some reason. Or how it would be if she had a mate. She may be here a few more hours." Doctor Callan explained to me. I looked over at her. Elora Frey. She was still passed out. "I'll go and speak to Alpha William about pack business, and tomorrow's feast. I'll also let him know what happened here today. I have to tell him why I took so long to get there. I will return in an hour or 2 and check on her" I said to him. "Understood Beta Sam" he replied. Now to tell Will about my day.

Kais P.O.V.

I came back to the collage for a quick lunch with Ava before my meeting with Sam and Will. She was extra happy to see me. She's been in a bad mood since I found my Mate. So it's nice to see her happy again. As I walk closer to Ava I smell something familiar but its different. I can smell the strawberries but its mixed with...a metallic smell... Blood? What? I started to follow the scent not trying to look panicked in front of Ava. And then I found it a trail of blood in the parking lot on the other side of the campus it was definitely Eloras' blood. I looked over at Ava. She seemed confused "oh my Goddess" she said "I hope whoever this happened to is okay". "Yea umm lets go figure out who it was" I said acting like I knew nothing. "We have to make sure shes okay" my wolf Kane kept telling me. "Damn it kane stop it we are with Ava" I told him. "Ava is not our Mate! Elora is and you're an i***t for rejecting her! you better hope she doesn't accept and she forgives you!" he scolded me. Whatever lets go. Damn mate bond.

Elora P.O.V.

I could hear voices, and something else a beeping noise? What's going on? Where am I? I couldn't open my eyes. I felt so drowsy. I could feel myself drifting back to sleep. The sounds were fading into silence. Everything was quiet. Just then, almost as fast as it faded away, I could hear that beeping noise again. My eyes snapped open. I was in a hospital bed.

I looked around the room dazed and confused. I remember Ava and her friends attacking me. Scarlett didn't even try to help me! What the hell! The thought of it made my blood boil. "Im sorry Elora there was nothing I could do. We can't shift. It's not time yet." Scarlett sighed interrupting my thoughts. "You could've helped me! Scarlett I needed you and you did nothing! You practically disappeared!" I snapped at her. "I don't know what to say Elora. Im sorry. I cant change what happened. We will be ok. I promise." She said as she faded to the back of my mind again. I take a deep breath and took my surroundings in once more. How did I even get here? I thought to myself. I started to and try to fit the pieces together. I remember trying to get to my car but that's all. I can't remember anything after that. Did I drive? I couldn't have.

Just then there was someone entered the room "Knock knock, hello Elora, Im Doctor Callan. How are you feeling?" he introduced himself. "Well I- Arrgg!" I groaned trying to sit up. "You're going to have to take it easy while your wolf heals you." He stated "You have sustained 3 broken ribs, a bruised collar bone, and your nose was also broken. Although it looks like since its been set back into place its almost fully healed just slightly bruised. Usually the healing process doesn't take this long. So we will keep you under observation for the next 2 hours to make sure you can rest as long as possible. Beta Sam said he found you in a parking lot with keys in your hands so I'm going to guess you are in fact a stubborn person. Trying to drive in the condition you were in was not a good idea regardless. Just saying." He said with a chuckle. "Beta Sam?" I asked confused. "Yes, He carried you in. You were unconscious, but don't worry about that you just rest. The nurse has already put water over there" He pointed at the tray next to me. "I have to go tend to other patients I'll be back a little later. No getting out of bed yet. If you need something press the big button and a nurse will come help you." He said as he exited the room. "Thank you Doctor" I said to him before he could close the door. He smiled and closed the door behind him.

I reached over to the tray and grabbed my water when I notice a remote. I look around to find a small TV. Thank goddess I won't have to just sit here bored for the next couple hours I thought to myself. Just as the thought left my mind a scent filled my nose. Even with the blood I can still smell it... Pine trees. That can't be right. Even if it was right there's no way hes going to come see me. My thoughts were cut short when there was a knock at the door. Please go away, I think to myself. It doesn't matter what I want because the door opens anyways. I was right. Its Kai. "Why are you here?" I asked with anger in my voice. "We found blood in the school parking lot and we wanted to know who it belonged to" He said. I knew he was lying our blood carries our scent he knew it was my blood. That was when I realized what he said. "We?"

"Yes we came to see who got hurt" Ava said with a smile on her face. "You've got to be kidding me" I said annoyed. How dare he show up here to begin with. And on top of it he brings HER! Scarlett was right we don't deserve this. He doesn't care and this was the last straw to prove it. He rejected us and it's time to move on. "You know what. Ill give you what you BOTH really came here for." I said with a smug look now on my face. I was ready to be done with him. "I Elora Frey, do hereby accept your rejection, Kai Summers." And with that I closed my eyes to prepare for the pain of our bond breaking for good. But there wasn't any pain. I felt like a weight was lifted off of my shoulders I was relieved and it was wonderful. "Aarrggg!!" My eyes shot open to see Kai on one knee holding his chest. "Baby are you ok?" Ava said to Kai then she looked over at me "Why the hell aren't you being affected? What's going on?" She started to yell. "I guess the bond was stronger for him than it was for me in the end. Not that it matters. I just gave you both what you wanted. Right? You should be thanking me. You're free to be with each other. Now you can BOTH stay away from me!" I spat at them. "Stay away from you?" Kai said in a confused groan. "We're never around you!" He spat. "Hmmm. Really? That's interesting I guess I put myself in this hospital bed too right?" I snapped back at him. "What are you talking about" he said confused once more. Ava was staying surprisingly quiet. Whatever how could he not know she did this to me. "I don't have time for you Kai. You arent my mate anymore and if I'm being honest. I'm glad. And I can say I feel better then I did before you entered this room. But since there is no reason for you to be here anymore." I calmly said as I started to point at the door. "You can leave now" I added. I turned away and called for a nurse with the button Doctor Callan showed me.

Kai and Ava left before the nurse even got to my room. I felt like I was free. So free that I could feel Scarlett running in the back of my mind. She also no longer has to suffer feeling our mate choose to be intimate with someone else. After an hour of TV I was feeling great. I decided to call Sofia in case I was able to leave soon. Since I was brought here I can only assume my moms car is still on campus. After Sofi showed up I asked to see Doctor Callan again. He eventually came in and gave another evaluation. "Wow you healed twice as fast this past hour then you did the last three" he said to me. "Does that mean I can go?" I asked "well..." he started "I suppose if you wanted to you could since you are an adult. Beta Sam said he'd come back to check on you but I'll let him know you're fine." "Beta Sam?" Sofia asked confused. "Ill explain later, thank you Doc. I'd like to leave". And with that he went and got the paper work I needed to be checked out. In less then 10 minutes I was on my way.

After we left the pack hospital Sofi drove me to my house so I could shower and change. I decided to call my parents and they told me Beta Sam got ahold of them as well. There was concern in their voices and I assured them that I was fine. They didn't believe me but after a few minutes they were finally convinced and I hung up. "What happened to you Ella? How did you end up in the pack hospital?" Sofia asked as I was throwing my ruined bloody clothes in the trash. I paused for a few seconds thinking about the past week. "Ella?" Sofia asked concerned when I didn't respond. "Its a long story and I'll tell you everything. But...can I crash at your place tonight? I don't feel like being home alone." I responded. She nodded her head in agreement. I grabbed a change of clothes for tomorrow and we were out the door.

Sofia's POV

We pulled into my driveway and went inside. Ella was being quiet. Which was unusual for her. But shes been like this the past few days. I had to figure out what was wrong. I decided to make some dinner first then bring it up. "What happened Ella? You know you can tell me ANYTHING." I said to her trying to comfort her. She continued to play with her food. "Ella come on. Pleas-" "I found my Mate Sofi." Elora said. "Oh my Goddess Elora that's great! Who is he? Nice way to change the subject but we are still going to circle back around to the hospital thing. But first tell me who he IS!" I started get louder as I spoke. "Was" She said. "What do you mean?" I asked her. "Kai Summers WAS my mate. He rejected me and broke my heart. I decided to accept his rejection but before I could... Ava and her friends cornered me in the bathroom. That's how I ended up in the pack hospital. I remember trying to get to my car to take myself but... I passed out. Then I woke up in the hospital bed. Doctor Callan told me Betta Sam found me and took me himself." She paused for a moment before she continued.

"Shortly after I woke up Kai and Ava ended up in my hospital room acting as if they cared. He had the audacity to bring her with him. Anyways I rejected him right there without a second thought." By the time she finished my wolf Hazel was trying to claw her way out to go and attack those stupid bitches! "Why didn't you tell Doctor Callan who was responsible?" I asked her in a frustrated tone. She looked at me just as frustrated. "Sofi... he picked her over me, his Mate! He will defend her no matter what. Besides it's my word against theirs. What's done is done. At least now they have no reason to bother me. I won't ever be around them anyways. So why drag it on just to be called a liar in the end?" I felt so much anger and sadness for Elora. Shes my best friend and I hate to see her hurt. "Are you sure that's what you want to do?" I asked just to be sure. "Of course not Sofi I want them to be held accountable but Kai wouldn't let that happen so I have no choice. If I say something they'll just do it again or something worse. The only reason they stopped was because Hannah made them stop. My wolf wouldn't even help me..."

Elora sounded defeated. "Don't be upset over Kai Ella" I told her as I grabbed her hand. Her head shot up to look at me with a confused look. " Sad over Kai? I know he was my mate but screw him! He didn't deserve me or Scarlett." "Scarlett?" I asked "My wolf.. Anyways... Im not upset because of Kai. I'm upset I haven't even seen Scarlett yet. I'm upset I couldn't shift to help myself. I just wish I didn't seem so weak to people because of it... I don't feel weak.. I know I'm not." She said looking me in the eyes. "Kai is an i***t. You are the strongest person I know. Look at you! You accepted a rejection and you are stronger for it! You're amazing. That's why we're best friends." I told her as I laughed and nudged her. She gave me a smile and a nod and we decided to watch a movie then go to bed.
