Chapter 3: The Incident

Sorry it has taken so long to have this chapter finished but I give to you chapter 3. POF Johnathan: Darkness, endless darkness, that's all I saw and felt endless emptiness. It felt like hundreds of years had passed before I saw something change light. It was so bright and warm like the sun on a morning's day. I started running towards that light, it felt like hours before I reached the end of this darkness. The light was brightening every corner there was, then I was brought back to reality. I felt heavy to the point where I couldn't even open my eyes, let alone move my hands. I could feel the cold fresh air in the room hit my body. When I started to try moving my body again, I got some more feeling in it. I felt my hand move, then I focused on seeing with my eyes. Just then I opened them when I saw that I was in my room and wondered how long I had been here. When, suddenly, the door opened and the most beautiful girl entered my room, ‘shocked’. That’s what I felt when I saw her. However, upon remembering seeing me enter a young man's room without permission, I screamed. After that, just a few seconds later, my parents came running. They were crying and saying it was a miracle. I looked at them even more confused than before. “ Father, mother, who is that person in the doorway, and what happened?” They looked at each other, then “Son, that person is the healer that came to save your life. Don’t you remember what happened in the forest with your friends?” I gave them a confused look as I tried to remember the events they experienced. Then, with a singular thought, it all came back to me in a flash. My friends and I were playing in the forest when some hunters attacked and I got hit by one of their arrows. It was then that I suddenly remembered my friends and the danger they were in. I got up from his bed to stand and looked at where his wound should be. But we were shocked to see it was gone as if it had never happened. Once the realisation of everything sank in, I said “What happened to my friends? Are alright and the hunters. What happened to them?” My parents explained the situation and how I came to be there to treat him. Once done, I turned to the new healer, “thank you for saving my life. Thank you”. “It is an honour young heir” with which she bowed “alpha, luna, I will take my leave as the young alpha seems to be all healed in other work to attend to”. She said then my father began to wave his hand as a dismissal for her to leave. Turning back to my parents, as I looked at them, I could see how worried they were about this event. “Father, mother, I feel fine now, so may I go see how my friends are.” With a look of hope, they agreed to it, but I must stay close to the village. After that, I travelled to meet them to see for my own eyes that they were safe. At that moment, I felt like I was more than the alpha heir but a true alpha looking after his people. Once we saw each other, we went to see Rosalind as we wanted to be her friend and help her if we could, as she saved our lives. As we approached the store from the previous healer, we saw Rosalind looking if she was about to leave. As I approached, I thought about all the things she has done for this pack so far by saving the lives of me and my friends. Yet she is all alone on her own. Rosalind POF: It has been a few months since I arrived at this village and I couldn't be any more happy with how the people are treating me. I don’t feel as lonely since my grandmother passed away. However, I still get rid of this feeling that this is all good to be true and once I wake up nothing will have changed. As I go about my usual routine, when I see Ivy, who seemed excited about something. I was curious to see what all this hubbub was about. Ivy looked excited the moment she saw me, running to me with a smile on her face. “So, Ivy, what made you so excited this early in the day?” “Rosalina, you may not believe this, but we are getting three new pack members on the order of the Lycan King. They say they’re the only servers of a small pack near the beach.” “So what happened to the rest of their pack?” “The adults say it was the work of vampires, mainly from the royal clan.” “How could three pack members from a small pack manage to survive when the rest perished.” “ Maybe they got lucky from what I have heard. They were on the other side of the board when it happened.” “How does that be, from what my grandmother told me of the royal vampire clans that they are busy dealing with the other clans?” “How would I know what runs through the minds of vampires? All I know is that their clan mark was left behind after the attack.” As I was about to say, it seems something else could have transpired. I see the alpha heir and others with a new girl with them looking all sweet and innocent. “Good morning healer Rosalind, you may have heard about the gossip going round. Well, this is Charlotte. She and her parents had just joined earlier today.” As I looked at Charlotte for a second there, I bowed gracefully to them and introduced myself to Charlotte. I could see from his eyes they looked to be sparkling. Looks of charlotte “Good morning lady Charlotte, my name is Rosalind and I am this Wolfsburg healer for both humans and wolves alike.” As I smiled to everyone in a friendly manner, I quickly saw in the corner of my eye Charlotte's glare of hatred. After that, Jonathan looked at me with question. “So what are you doing with that basket, Rosalind, at this time of day?” “Well, Jonathan, I am headed into the forest to collect some medical herbs that have ripened.” “Oh, well, then, we will come to help, since with more hands to cover more ground. “Young Alpha, we can’t, we can’t possibly help her. It is beneath your status. How will the others see you helping a mere lonely human.” Shocked for a moment, before Jonathan and the others were back to their normal facial expectations and bethar. “Charlotte, we should help Rosalind since we have nothing to do, since helping Rosalind pick these special herbs that take a year to grow will help our pack have more in case of an attack.” With that, we all set out to the forest where I had shown them where they grow. While we went too close to the river to collect some moss and herbs growing near it when it happened. While I was about to pick some and the others weren’t looking up up Charlotte seemed to jump into the river screaming. “Help, Help!” Splashing around, shocked at that moment, was all it took, as the rest of them sprang into action. With Jonathan jumping into the river to swim after Charlotte and save her. As the others rushed into saving her, I went to my basket to find a herb that would help in case of drowning. When I got to the river, I saw Jonathan with Charlotte in his arms being pulled up to safety. Out of breath, I rushed in “get away from me!” “Charlotte, what has gotten into you?” She pointed at me, then “it was her, Rosalind pushed me into the river!” They all looked shocked by her statement when the boys started to look at me with a judgment look in their eyes. “Rosalind, how could you? Charlotte has just come to our pack after experiencing such an attack, for you to try killing her.” When I heard that coming from his lips I knew then and there that there was no use looking for them to hear my side of the story. “Jonathan, I have just mind linked the alpha about this.” “Good what does he say” with a smug look on his face. “He says to bring Rosalind and Charlotte before him so he can cast judgement.” “Very well, father is a man of honour. He will give a judgement on the wrong and bring justice to everything.” Jonathan then walked to Charlotte and put his hand on her shoulder, looking at her sincerely “don’t worry I will make sure I get justice for you.” When I heard that we would never be able to go back to being friends after this. As we walked to the alpha’s house I kept seeking a peek at Ivy to know if she would be at my side. But I could see she kept her eyes on something else, avoiding what was most likely going to happen to me next. Once we arrived, I noticed that all the pack was there and standing beside the alpha was his luna. She looked more worried and confused than anyone else. Which meant they all knew what had transpired and judged that I was guilty. I knew then and there they saw me as nothing but a human who dared harm a member of the pack. They opened up a pathway for us to come to the centre where the alpha and luna were once through, they formed a circle around us and beta made me needle in front of the alpha. “So what happened, Jonathan, out by the river in the forest?” “Alpha began by introducing Charlotte to Rosalind as she is the healer. While we were introducing her, we offered to help Rosalind collect some more herbs in the forest, since she said she was running low. We offered to help her since she taught us how to properly pick them.” “Jonathan, may I ask why you offered when you had other important things to do?” “Well, Alpha at the time, I, we wanted to help since she is the only healer we have. I thought we could save more lives when rogues attack, since those herbs are a key ingredient in making those healing creams.” “For the future, you did indeed put your alpha studies on hold to help the pack in the future.” Nodding with approval before allowing him to continue on. “So once we made it to the river this time me, Ivy and I were at the trees surrounding the river to collect some herbs that are hard to find without a good nose. Rosalind showed Charlotte how to collect some of the moss that grows on the edge of the river. Then, whilst I was focused on finding the herbs, I heard a splash, then Charlotte screamed. After that, I jumped in and swam to save her from drowning. Once safe, she told us it wasn’t an accident that Rosalind intentionally pushed her in. In an attempt to murder her for being new to the pack and I was jealous of her for all the attempts to murder her and for all the attention we were giving her.” “Alpha, I ask that you cast judgement on Rosalind for her crime.” With that, the alpha looked at me with the rest of the pack. I knew the moment I saw his eyes that he had already made his judgement that I was to be punished. “So what do you have to say, Rosalind, about the claims against you?” “Alpha, I couldn’t have pushed Charlotte into the river as I was a far bit away and more focused on the herbs that grow on the edge of the river, as I might have fallen in. Besides alpha, I only met with Charlotte today when the young alpha introduced us this morning.” The alpha nodded his head, agreeing with my sound reason, but he looked at Charlotte's crying face and made his judgement. He raised his hands to signal silence. “I have made my judgement, Rosalind. You will be punished for the attempt to murder Charlotte, but since it is only her word against yours, your punishment will be merciful and make you clean the house for a month while continuing your work as our healer.” I knew, with this sentence, even though I am incest, I all they ever saw, me was a human they could use rather than a member of the village. After that incident, I started work as their slave, cleaning every room from dawn to dust while still making my potions for them. It became harder as lady Charlotte and her followers kept making messes for me to clean or hitting and calling me names. What I think was the worst is when Jonathan saw everything but he turned a blind eye to it like, he deserved it all. Even though everyone in the pack knows what Charlotte and her followers are doing to me. Just the other day, when I finally finished cleaning and polishing the floor, towards the staircase all day long, Charlotte pushed my bucket of dirty water on the floor for me to clean again. As I turned around to confront lady Charlotte and her followers about this, she just looked at me with a glitter of evil in her eyes and said, “Opps, sorry there, I didn't see it, but lady, don’t you think this is what a human deserves for thinking it’s a part of a wolf pack.” “Yes we do, Lady Charlotte.” “After all, humans should be our slaves from the moment they are born, since they are weak creatures who can not protect themselves at all. Not to mention have no ability to wield magic at all.” With that said and done, they left to go and see the young alpha and beta train while I went to clean up their mess. It took me an hour to clean and re-polish; it is likely Charlotte is too stupid that her attempt at making a mess for me to clean only took an hour to sort out. Once done as always, I walked up to the alpha’s office to report my cleaning done so I could leave as it was part of my punishment. However, unlike all the other times I have been there, the door was open and I could hear Luna having an argument with the alpha. I decided it would be in the best interest if I left and waited downstairs for a while. But just as I was leaving I heard “how can you keep this punishment going knowing for sure that Rosalind didn’t push Charlotte into that river or try to kill her at all. You know better than anyone that Rosalind doesn’t deserve this at all, not to mention what Charlotte has been doing to the poor child. Not only did she save our son's life from the hunter’s poison, but she is also the grandchild of the woman who saved your life to whom you gave your word that if a member of her family needed protection, you would give it. But now I see a man who has not only broken his word but is destroying Rosalind’s life as well.” With a huff, the alpha replied “My dear Luna, do you think I don’t know that it’s just that Charlotte and her family are entrusted to me by the Lycan King himself. After what happened in their pack and the fact that she can wield water magic makes her a very important wolf in the king's kingdom. And if Charlotte were to report to him about Rosalind, the king would not only kill her in the most painful way possible but destroy our pack as well for not protecting her better. What do you want me to do as the alpha and leader of this pack? I must insure the lives of everyone before my own personal words.” Slinging, Luna said “Fine, I understand that this punishment is to appease Charlotte and her parents about everything, but if you can’t see that, the longer you allow this to go on, the more you allow Charlotte to have power over you. If you knew that the Lycan king would side with Charlotte and be careless about one of his alpha’s alphaes, then maybe he isn’t the right king for our kind. You know better than anyone that the current Lycan king isn’t our goddess' chosen king, but due to alphabs and a few other alphabs, they forced our king to make a choice. What would you have done if you were in his shoes? Would you have the guts to reject your true mate just because she is a hybrid or your kingdom?” With that, I finally understood it, all the things. All are being forced into doing this because Charlotte is a special wolf that can wield water magic. From then on I would continue my work knowing that, once, I would be slightly free from Charlotte, but I knew she would cause more trouble for me. The best I could do is leave people out of it, since neither the alpha or luna could. When the day came for my freedom from my punishment, I went straight to my hut to check on my hidden money so I could leave once I had saved up enough. However, the day after I was released, I met Jonathan looking happy at me. “Rosalind, now that your punishment is up we can be friends again”. “Friends, friends, young, I am sorry, but we can never be friends again after everything happened. After all, I am just a mere human who is this village's healer. I am in no position to be friends or spend time with the heir.” Bowing, I made my way past him and into the woods to the cliff near the village border to be alone from everyone. After that, people started to look and treat me differently, as if I was trying to murder Charlotte. 2 Years Passed It was just another day of my life when I met a new human who would truly believe me about Charlotte. Her name is Juliet. She happened to move to this village two months ago. Even though Charlotte and others of the pack have “warned” her and her family to stay away from me. But they did not heed them as being around me was the worst sin anyone could commit. It was on this day when I was going to meet up with Juliet near the entrance of the woods so I could teach her more about the medical plants I use. Suddenly, as I was about to leave the village, I bumped into Charlotte of all the people. “I hear you're going to meet Juliet from you had better hurry. I heard rogers are near the border.” With that, I ran as fast as I could to her, but even to this day, I regret not being faster or leaving earlier. What I find is Juliet lying there on the ground naked and ruffed up as she is being held down. Shock was what came over me, but I knew what others would think if they found her here. I gathered up my courage and put her clothes back on her. Then we made it back to my house along the village paths where they wouldn’t see us at all. After that, I got her all cleaned up and checked for any injuries. Once done, I held her hands as she sat on a chair and said while looking into her eyes that it looked as if her soul had been stolen. “Juliet, I am going to get your parents and talk about what happened, okay” to her reply she just nodded. To that day, I regret not going back inside and talking to her, because when we arrived back there, I soon realised that was the last I saw her alive again time as she hung herself from my bed.
