First Meet
“Do your best, lily”. Zoey kissed her daughter’s cheek as she dropped her in front of Epik High school.
Whenever Lily has exams, she asks her mother to drop her off at school. She blows a kiss on her mother as she walks into her school.
Zoey went back to the parking lot and hopped on her bike. She starts her bike, and she drives through the school to down street. She parks her bike in front of her book store, which is called ‘Liliscus’.
She opens the curtains of the glass doors and windows and turns the closed signed board to open. She went to the staff room to remove her black jacket placed in her locker. Then she gets back to the counter and checks the orders for today on the system. After 10 mins, bells on the door of her store jingled to indicate someone was coming as the doors opened.
“Your late.”, Zoey says, looking at her friend Mia. Mia pulled out a clutch from her pocket and put her blonde hair into a bun.
Looking at the wrinkled red shirt she was wearing with black jeans which held her ass tightly as well as messy lipstick like she had
just had a hot make-out session with someone. As always, she wears her black high heels, which made her look 5’8 tall when she was just 5’4.
“You can’t blame my boyfriend for making out with me in front of your store. He was the reason I’m late”, said Mia.
“Whatever” Zoey said, annoyed as she got up from the chair and got her notepad as she walked toward the book aisle.
“Huh? That all. This is why you should date someone ,” Mia said, following around Zoey, who was not saying anything.
“Again, I wasted time talking about having a boyfriend to a woman who avoids every single man in the world.” Mia mumbled as she went back.
After an hour, people start to come to buy or read some books. Zoey let Mia take over as she went upstairs, which is a library for students and for working people. She sat in her regular place, which was a nearby window, placing her laptop on the table as she started working on her new book. Yes, she’s a novelist.
Vibrations from her phone startled her as they indicated it was 3.40pm. That she had to pick up Lily from her school. She saw Mia talking to a customer and billing, so she just smiled at her and tapped her watch and said she was leaving. She went out and put on her jacket and her helmet; she started her bike as a ride to pick Lily.
It only takes 10 mins from the bookstore to Lily’s school. She saw Lily talking with her friends as she was waiting for Zoey. She felt proud to see lily with her friend, the image in front of her took her to the time when she had the best friends in her life.
“Mom”, lily shouted as she ran toward her mother. “Shall we eat something before we go back home? I’m starving~~~~~~~” she pleased Zoey. Because Lily saw the look on her mother's face, she didn’t eat her lunch.
“Anything for My Princess. Let’s go.” She says as help lily to hop on. After lily said bye to her friend, they went to a nearby Chinese restaurant which was lily’s favorite. They parked their bikes and went to seats in an empty booth. As they order, lily talks about her day.
After their food was served, they ate silently, until “Is it OK if I invite Peter and his father for tomorrow's signing event?” Lily asked curiously.
Zoey nodded and said “sure” as she drank her water.
“You know uncle Adam (Peter’s father) was a huge fan of yours, so, how about we invite him to our home for dinner?” she whispered a last part cautionary.
“Lily, I know you and Mia want me to get a boyfriend. And we have already talked about this. So yes, to invite them to tomorrow's event and not to dinner” said Zoey, as the waiter for the bill.
They paid and walked out.
“I think I will get a boyfriend before you” Lily said, as she followed her mother outside.
“Huh? Boyfriend? I think you forget we have cameras in our store”, Zoey says, turning to hold the hand of Lily.
Lily’s blue eyes widened as her face turned pink and embarrassed as she thought about what her mother might see.
Zoey chuckled and said “I will wait till you tell me”, she ruffled lily’s reddish-brown hair.
“We should go, Mom. I have homework”, Lily says, nudging her mother toward her bike.
They went back to the store as Lily went upstairs to do her homework as Zoey and Mia worked downstairs.
When it was 7pm, Zoey went to the second floor, which is Zoey and Lily’s home, to make dinner. Lily joins her mother to make dinner. They ate their lunch and went back to sleep in their room.
Next day:
“Don’t worry Mom. I will have lunch with Mia. You should focus on the event”, Lily said, as she kept her mother seated.
“Are you sure?” Zoey asks. Because Zoey was signed up for this event till 2pm, since it’s the weekend they asked Zoey and other authors to stay till 6pm. And Zoey didn’t want Lily to be alone.
“yeah. After lunch, I will go shopping with Mia. She will drop me by after home. So just focus on this event.” She says, running toward Mia who is waiting for her.
After Lily left, Zoey focused on signing her books and talking with people and promoting her book. They end the event at 5pm, because of some rude fans. They let authors wait in their waiting rooms to sort the problem at out the venue.
Zoey lay on the couch which was in her waiting room and sent a text to Mia about the situation.
Knock. Knock.
Zoey got up and went to open the door, thinking it must be an organizer. But it’s a man who she has never met before. He didn’t even look like a member of the event holder, because of his three-piece suit. He looks like a model in magazines. He might be good for the CEO role. He looks in his thirties with deep black hair, 6’2 feet with the same colored eyes as Lily.
“Yes?” Zoey asked, looking at the blue-eyed man looking at her from top to bottom. She could feel his gaze on her whole body.
He took a step toward her; Zoey took two steps backward. Because she never wants to be near anyone in the world. But with her movement, he went into the room and sat on the couch.
“Who are you?” She asks the mysterious man who is currently taking a seat on the couch lying.
“Close that door and come here” that mysterious blue-eyed man ordered. He didn’t ask or say, he basically ordered Zoey.
Zoey doesn’t know what happened because her body moved without her will. The dominance of his voice made Zoey obey his words immediately.
She sits looking at her hands which are placed on her laps. She could feel his gaze burning a hole in her skin.
After 10 mins, the event manager called her phone and informed them they could leave.
She got up from her seat and went to open the door, “Where are you going?” Mr. Mysterious ask her.
“Home” Zoey answered as she turned to see how close that person was standing near her. She flinched as she took a step away from him.
Mr. Mysterious chuckled and says “I want you to drop me”. Again, he ordered her not to ask her.
Zoey looked down and thought a moment and shook her head, saying “No”. She opened the door, went out and said thanks to the event manager and went to the parking lot without looking back.
As she walks, she feels that a man gazes at her body as if following her.
When she gets near to her bike, she turns to see that man standing near her, “Stop following me”, she says, as she walks toward her bike.
She starts to feel trembling as she starts to feel panic. Her mind starts to remember the event that happened 10 years ago. When she tried to get her keys from her pocket, they slipped from her trembling hand to fall on the ground.
Before she turned to pick it up, she saw Mr. Mysterious knees bent down in front of her as pick the keys. He looks up and says “I won’t hurt you. Trust me.”
Blush.
He gets up and takes her hands in his hands and places her keys in her palm while looking into her eyes.
Zoey flinched at the touch and forcedly pulled away her hand.
“Just drop me on the nearby subway” he says.
Zoey moved away from him and said “no” while looking at the ground.
“Please...”. Zoey was shocked as she looked at his face.
Since they met, he had been ordering her around, but now he pleased her.
Zoey nods her head as she looks at him and says ‘OK’ slowly. She hops on her bike and puts her helmet on her. As she gives him lily’s helmet.
He wears that helmet and hops on and holds Zoey's shoulder. Her whole body became tensed at his touch.
Just before Zoey starts her bike, “I need to make a call” he says.
Zoey turns to him and says “OK”.
He looked at her a moment and chuckled and said,” I didn’t have my phone with me”.
“Can you give me your phone?” he asks her.
Since he didn’t order this time, Zoey got her phone from her jacket pocket, before unlocking it, she turned to look at him, as ‘should I trust him’.
He chuckles and says “You can trust me.”. Zoey frowned and looked at him confused.
“You’re thinking aloud”.
She is embarrassed as she turns to unlock her phone and give it to him.
He dialed a number and held it near his ear. “It’s me.” “Yes” “OK” “pick me up at the subway”. He cut the call. Zoey held her hand
out for her phone.
“I will give it back when we arrive. So just go” he said.
Zoey started her bike and went out of the parking lot to see police and ambulance vehicles parked in front of the place signing event held. Zoey turned away as she drove toward the nearby subway.
“Oh. You have a text from Mia saying she dropped Lily at home”, he told Zoey loudly as he held her left shoulder.
“Stop reading my text”, she turned to tell him as she was driving.
“Oh. Now Lily texted saying she’s home. Is lily your sister? But she didn’t look like you” he says, looking at the photos of Lily in
the gallery.
Zoey stopped her bike on sideway and removed her helmet and turned to snatch her phone from him.
“Get down” this time Zoey ordered him.
