CHAPTER 49 A globe of unknown energy formed in front of the Resurrection’s bow and was fired towards planet Aleph. The blow swept away the planet’s atmosphere and sank into its surface like a hot knife penetrates snow. A few moments passed in which nothing happened, then billions of cracks spread over the entire surface. Its crust imploded, plummeting towards the scorching, dense planetary core. What remained of Aleph looked like a dying little star immersed in an expanding nebula of fragments. Sorran admired the spectacle and lost himself in its tiniest details.
