Lea and Ken made their way to the kitchens. This morning breakfast was supposed to be a big breakfast, however because they were running late, Lea decided on scrambled eggs on toast. It would be quick and taste yummy. Lea didn’t like to boast but she was a good cook. She wondered if she got it from her mother. She couldn’t remember her family but in her dreams a beautiful lady would come to her calling her name. Her long dark hair would blow in the breeze as she softly called her name. Lea had always believed this was her mother looking over her. Her heart would always feel full after waking. One day she would think, one day I will find you mother.

“Oi sweet cheeks, you there?”

Ken was clicking his fingers in front of her face. “Earth to Lea”

Lea snapped back to the room.

“Sorry Ken, I, I was just..”

“Don’t worry sweet, let’s just crack on”

They spent the next half an hour cooking, baking, setting the tables and clearing up.

“Wow, we did it. I think this is a new record for us” Lea laughed.

“Teamwork sweet cheeks, teamwork”

Chair legs scraped the floor and small talk filled the dining room. Ken and Lea exchanged looks, took deep breaths and confidently walked into the room.

“Good morning Alpha and Luna” they both chirped on entering.

“Morning both of you, any problems this morning?” Alpha Ken was staring at Lea. She knew it was about the breakfast and the quick change of the menu.

“No Alpha, I am sorry about the menu change. We will be having the big breakfast tomorrow instead of today”

“Why? Why would you make that decision” his voice was low. As he spoke his muscles flickered under his shirt. His eyes were glowing. He didn’t mean it in a malice way. That wasn’t the Alpha. It may have just been an innocent question but there was still authority there. Questioning the change. He was always protective. Always checking. This was why the pack was a strong one. Alpha Ken cared but was also suspicious.

Damn Lea thought. She didn’t want to say they were late as this would lead to punishment.

“Well Alpha, I’m sorry for the change of menu so abruptly” she could sense Ken staring at her.

“It was just that tomorrow morning we have Alpha Zorro and his Luna coming for breakfast and I thought the big breakfast would be nicer to serve. I am truly sorry if this has offended you, I should have run it past you first”

Luna Mary spoke softly “Lea what a lovely thought. I think that’s a great idea”

Alpha Ken stared at Lea with a small smirk on his lips.

“Yes what a great way to think Lea. Well done to you” he turned, he placed a kiss on his Lunas cheek and tucked into his food.

A little squeak escaped Leas lips and they all stopped at looked at her. Her cheeks flushed red as she excused herself and returned to the kitchen.

“Well bloody done Lea, I never would have thought of that so quickly” Ken laughed and swatted her on the back.

“I don’t even know how I managed it” she laughed.

“Come, let’s finish our chores and head to the forest. I want to be free and my wolf is driving me insane” Ken turned and started to tidy up and Lea smiled. She loved him like a brother. She was lucky to have him.

An hour later they had done their chores. Washing of the clothes..tick. Washed and dried the pots..tick. Tea prepared for later..tick. They were a great team and the rest of the slaves knew it.

It was a warm day. The sun was shining and their wasn’t a cloud in the sky. The breeze was cool and everything around them looked beautiful. It was that time of year where the flowers were blooming and the trees full. Birds flew above them and the deers in the trees would roam freely.

Ken took Leas hand and started to run.

“Slow down Ken what’s the rush” Lea squealed.

“Come on sweet cheeks I’ve got something to show you! My wolf senses found it the other day and I knew Instantly that you would love it”

Lea raised her eyebrows and laughed at the sounds of his voice. He was like a child at Christmas.

“Come on then, let’s go”

In an instance Ken had changed. Instead of his two feet it was now four huge paws pacing back and forward on the ground. His beautiful brown fur danced in the wind. He was too fast for Lea to keep up. She couldn’t change yet as her wolf wouldn’t appear to her until she turned 18. Not long now she thought. 5 days to go and I’ll get to meet my wolf.

This was the 5th time Lea had seen Ken change to his wolf and she was still in awe.

In a matter of seconds Ken stopped. His nose hit the air instantly and he turned suddenly, his head c****d to the side.

“Ken?”

Nothing.

“Ken, are you ok?” Lea called. He was still a bit in front of her but still close enough to hear her.

He sniffed the air again and then started straight to her. His teeth was bared and hackles up.

“KEN?? what are you doing?” Leas voice couldn’t hide the shock of how fast he was coming towards her. Before Ken could get to her a huge force took Lea out. She hit the tree and and instantly fell to the floor. She was stunned and her whole body screamed pain. She lifted her head slowly to look for Ken. Horror filled her body. Ken was there but also 2 rogues. Ken was trying to defend her. Ken’s wolf look magnificent. He wasn’t taking anything they were trying to throw his way.

A rogue spotted Lea watching and started to slink over to her. He had blood in his teeth and saliva dangling down to the floor. Lea tried to move but her body couldn’t respond. She was paralysed to the spot. Pain in her body.

Oh goodness please help me she screamed in her head. The image of the woman in her dreams appeared and she screamed out to her again. Help me, please mother help me. I don’t want to die. The woman smiled at her and a warmth filled Lea.

A noise next to her snapped her back to the scene. Ken was pinned to the floor by the second rogue. It was trying to bite his neck. The other rogue was no longer to be seen. It had gone. But why? Where is it Lea thought. What did it want?

A growl rippled through the trees. If it was any louder, Lea was sure the trees would have fallen. A huge wolf appeared and pounced on the rogue on top of Ken. The Alpha. Lea knew they were safe and she finally let the blackness take her.
