The meeting

Beep, beep, beep. The sound of hospital machines was the first thing Lea could hear. She instantly knew where she was at. The pack hospital. She opened her eyes and let them adjust. Ken was there, slumped in the small chair in the corner. She smiled at the scene. His large figure was way too big for him to fit in it but he still managed it.
“Ken” Lea croaked.
He jumped up suddenly making Lea jump.
“Sorry Lea I feel asleep. I am here. Let me get you some water.”
He walked over to water machine in the corner and poured some water into the plastic cup. He placed a straw into it and walked over to Lea.
“Here, have a sip”
Lea sipped at the water.
“Thank you Ken. Are you ok? Are you hurt? What happened?”
“Hey, hey sweet cheeks” laughed Ken.
“One question at a time”
“Lea weakly smiled and a flash of sadness filled his eyes.
“You’ve been out of it for 4 days Lea. We’ve been so worried about you. The Rogues attacked us but Alpha Ken heard the fight and came straight away. He saved us.”
“What did they want?”
“We don’t know. Alpha Ken thinks they were looking for scraps. Or, they could have been spying. Waiting to attack. We don’t know. Alpha Ken has requested a meeting with the other packs around. It’s happening tomorrow.”
“Gosh. He’s taken it seriously then.”
“Absolutely sweet cheeks. Anyway, I will let the nurses know you are awake. They will want to do checks on you. Hopefully they will let you go home and rest there. We need you right for tomorrow. The big 1 8.” Ken laughed.
Just then a nurse and Doctor came into the room.
“Well hello there Lea. How are you feeling? You gave us all a little scare”
“I feel fine thank you Doctor. A little sore but apart from that I am fine”
“Good” The doctor said while swiftly moving over to Lea and removing the IV that was attached to her arm.
“You can go home. Rest though. I will let the Alpha know. You will need to eat something as soon as you are back.”
“Don’t worry Doctor, I will make sure she does” Ken chirped and wagged a finger at Lea. Lea rolled her eyes back.
“Come on then, let’s go” she raised her eyebrows as she sat up and climbed off the bed. Her legs swayed but Ken was there right next to her holding her body up.
“Thanks” she gruffly said.
They exited the hospital into the sun. The fresh air smelt amazing to Lea.
“You goo?” Ken said looking at her.
“Yes I am fine. The air just smells amazing today”
“You turn 18 tomorrow Lea, your body is getting ready. Your wolf is waiting for you so everything will be heightened” he replied.
In a few minutes they had walked to the dorms where they stayed. God it’s so grotty Lea thought. She took out her key and entered it into the door. Before turning a voice appeared behind them.
“Lea, Ken, nice to see you”
“Alpha Ken, thank you for saving me” Lea replied. “Is there anything I can get you?”
“No lea, I have had strict instructions from the Doctor for you to rest. He also said you are underweight so I wanted to say you are welcome to make yourself some dinner as and when you please. Ken, you too”
Lea smiled back warmly.
“Thank you Alpha that is very kind of you.”
“I am sure Ken has updated you. We have a meeting tomorrow regarding the attack with other packs. Because it was both of you that was attacked, you both will need to attend and tell your side of the stories”
“Yes Alpha” both nodding their heads.
With that, he was gone.
“Flipping heck. I don’t know if I can” Lea whispered. She was no good with crowds. Let alone important people.
“Your fine don’t worry.” Ken said placing her in her bed, fluffing the pillows behind her.
“Stay here. Do whatever. I am going to make you some food.”
“Yes boss” Lea laughed while saluting him.
He laughed and walked to the door.
“Il lock it behind me in case Ethan decides to pop by. He won’t be able to get to you then.”
“Good idea.”
With that he was gone. The door locked and there was quiet.
Lea woke later to food sat by her on the bedside table. Ken no where to be seen. He must have dropped it off and didn’t want to wake her. She reached over and took a bite of the sandwich. She never thanked him for defending her. She made a mental note to do it when she next saw him. Again the tiredness snuck over her and she finally gave in to the sleep.
