Never To Be His

Episode Four

As Alexander walked away from the house, it felt like a bowl of water was poured on me and my life came crashing fast before my eyes. My knees buckled and my feet became glued on the ground.

All I ever wanted was to leave my past buried behind me and now it seems it's no longer possible. The presence of Alexander would complicate my life more than I can ever imagine.

“Mummy, where is Uncle Alexander? He said he would make my ear disappear, “ Pete asked, scanning the room with his eyes.

“Uncle Alexander has gone back to his place and it's very far from here. Besides he is not your uncle” I said smiling wearily, hoping my words would deter him about Alexander but he persisted.

“I know he will be back, he told me a secret” my eyes widened in shock as he said that. Did Alexander tell Pete he was his dad? I couldn't imagine it. I had told Pete his dad is in the skies above watching over us and now I will have to explain it was a lie.

“Honey, why don't you go get dressed, aunty Martha will take you to get ice cream” I did not want to ask Pete what Alexander told him because I was not ready to have that conversation with my little man yet.

“Can I get two flavors?” Pete asked and I nodded in approval.

“Yeah, thank you mummy” he ran upstairs and I crashed on the chair beside me.

Why was this happening now? After I have built my life back from scratch? I was no more the big fat Daciana and Alexander still recognized me… My head filled with thoughts of how to possibly escape him when Zane came into the house.

“Good morning star, hope you slept well?”

“Yes alpha, I am doing great” I responded but he looked at me with questionable eyes

“You know you can't lie to me Star, so spill it, what is up? Your response seems vague”

I laughed. Zane became a friend and companion since the first day he brought me home. He had never seen me less because of my body size or the fact that I was a nobody. He suggested I worked on myself when he noticed I was so shy to associate with others and I belittled myself.

Martha told me how his mate left him and they thought they had lost him until he came back to the pack with me. I know he harbours some kind of emotions for me, he had told me once the way he felt, but I had vowed never to allow my heart fall for anyone again, not after the way Alexander treated me.

“Star” alpha Zane called out snapping me out of my train of thoughts.

“I am fine alpha, I am just too busy to show up for the alpha's celebration”

“Star, I know it's a lot to ask of you but it would really mean a lot to Henry. It's his first event as alpha, since his dad had retired and he is in charge now. But if it would make you uncomfortable, it's fine. I would tell Henry you are busy”

I saw the look on his face and I knew he was disappointed, so I told him I would do it but he must stay with me all through the event. I did not want him to know alpha Alexander was Pete’s dad, since I left out all that detail about my life a secret from him.

“Ok Star, I would not blink my eyes” we both laughed but I knew this was the beginning of a phase I did not know how to navigate. Alexander was a master schemer and he would make sure he achieved his goal.

I went back to my room and found multiple calls on my phone, it was my private phone so I wondered who was calling with a strange number?

“Hello, who is this?” I asked and I heard that rich shrill voice again and I knew it was Alexander.

“Daci, we need to talk”

Only Alexander called me Daci, but I was still hoping my drastic change in look and personality would hide my identity from him but it was not working. Alexander had a kind of personality that breathed fear among everyone, coupled with the fact that Waterside was the largest pack in North America and every other pack was under them, he was revered. But I refuse to be intimidated.

“My name is Star and I don't know what you are talking about” I ended the call and flinged the phone on the bed.

Why is he all over me? What does he want with me? After five years, he wants us to talk?

I quickly had my bath and headed to the studio to finish my session before preparing for the art exhibition show the next day. I needed to distract myself from Alexander and the trouble he was brewing.

Later that day, when I came back home, I was greeted with the presence of Henry the new groom and his bride.

“You should be on your honeymoon, what are you doing here?” I asked jokingly and they said they came to inform me that the alpha's ceremony that was scheduled to happen at the Red Moon pack had been taken to the Water side pack.

“Since Alpha Alexander is the supreme alpha, he proposed we had the grand ceremony in his pack. He also made sure everything about your transportation had been prepared to ensure a smooth flight” Henry said and I was short for words.

“This is not what I had in mind” I chuckled nervously but I had promised Zane I would be there and now the couple are here also pleading. It was a lot to take in, going back to that pack was a nightmare for me, a reflection of the pain I felt when I was there. But I was not one to back out of an agreement.

“Ok Henry, I would be there. Now can you take your bride to someplace special and allow her enjoy her honeymoon?” we all laughed and the bride said there was absolutely no one who would hear me sing and not want to listen to more of my songs. I appreciated her nice words and they were on their way.

I sighed in frustration, what kind of dirty game was Alexander playing and why was he involving me?

Henry mentioned that the ceremony would take place this weekend, and the private jet Alexander had arranged for me would be in the airport on Friday evening. I casually packed a few clothes because I knew I would barely spend the night there, after the ceremony I am heading back home.

“Mummy, where are you going?” Pete asked as he walked in and saw me packing my bag.

“Mummy is going for an event and I would spend the night there”

“Can I come with you mummy? Will uncle Alexander be there?” His question caught me unaware.

“Yes honey uncle Alexander will be there, and you can come with me” he flew on me and gave me a peck.

“Thank you mummy”

There was something about how Pete and Alexander bonded so fast. I know the seed of the alpha will always be unique and grow faster and stronger more than his peers but how he is so attracted to his dad is another thing I did not see coming.

My show at the art exhibition went well, fans all around seeking for private moments with me, my autographs and even though it was tasky, I loved the thrill. It gave me a sense of accomplishment.

The weekends came faster than I anticipated and it was time to head to Waterside pack. With Pete and alpha Zane by my side, I thought I was ready to face whatever comes my way. But the moment we landed at the airport and I breath in the fresh air, all the sad memories came flooding back and I couldn't hold back my tears.

This was obviously a mistake, I turned back and asked alpha Zane if there was another flight back home, I was not ready to face what lied here.

“Welcome back to Water side pack Miss Star, the alpha awaits your presence” a tall slender lady that looked like the person sent to pick us up said and alpha Zane who was initially worried about why I wanted to head back home was shocked.

“Welcome back?” Zane asked his eyes fixed on me.
