Chapter 10

622 Words
Cleo’s POV "Arrgh! This arrogant, stupidly handsome man I growled in an empty house. I stood up and put on a track pant that was perfectly placed on my waist; it was big and baggy. I wore a crop top and a jacket and didn’t zip them. I make sure to show my figure whenever I get a chance. I took my toiletry bag and put my toiletries in it, and I packed the first dress I saw in my wardrobe and heels. Just as I was closing the suitcase, I heard a car horn. I ran downstairs and locked my door behind me. When I reached the car, I expected him to come out and take the suitcase inside the booth, at least, but this guy was just sitting there facing the road. "This idiot." I cursed under my breath as I shoved the suitcase into the booth. I decided to occupy the backseat. I took a long, minute-long breath before getting into the car. "Good day, sir." "Yes, Cleo." He uninterestedly replied; he started the car, and off we went. The drive was only an hour long, but it was going to be the longest drive ever. F**k," I murmured at myself as I unlocked my phone. "For someone who always has something to say, you should have said that out loud." I heard his hoarse voice say, "And how the hell did he hear what I said? That was a whisper, or less than that. "Well, I am in for trouble." I thought to myself. " Sir?" I pretended not to have heard what he just said. "You like acting, don’t you?" I heard his voice change to something naughty. "Excuse me!?" I said it loudly, looking at him. "You are playing a dangerous game, you know? I already know the effect I have on women, but you acting like you don’t want what all these women want is only asking for trouble." He cockily said to me: I felt anger rising inside of me and totally ignored the fact that he was my boss. "Listen here, Mr. Sternberg, I am only here because of work, and I am more than qualified for it. If you think your handsome face is the reason why, then you are mistaken. I have met and dated men who are more good-looking, sir, so please get over your arrogance and freak’n update me on the task at hand. I literally howled at him and focused on my phone. I was touching the screen up and down without even knowing what I was doing. "Spicy, I like it. You might be a bit different from the women I have met, but I know you all want one thing, and I will give it to you, my lady." I saw him flash a smile. The moment I heard what he referred me to, the anger instantly melted. "He is from England, or what?" I thought to myself and quickly got back to my senses. "Listen here, I never really put too much of my energy into useless things, but I really don’t see myself thinking of you anyhow. Besides being my boss, you are way too arrogant and definitely not a gentleman. You don’t meet the requirements of me crushing on you. I'm sorry to rain on your parade. I sarcastically said, lying between my teeth. "Who have I dated that is more handsome than him? I am really crazy." I heard him say something that pulled me away from my thoughts, and I didn’t even get it and just decided to change the topic. "So which accounts are we scouting tonight, boss?" I professionally said this while leaning against the seat of the car.
