Chapter 16

885 Words
Rachel’s POV "What do you mean there’s no one? I sharply questioned him, annoyed by his incompetency. "Mam, when he is not in the office, he is at his house or art gallery with his bodyguards only, no one else. He responded. I banged my hand on the desk and abruptly stood up and went to look outside the window. I am trying to think of how this is possible and how to go about it. "I pay you a lot of money for you to give me such nonsense; maybe the women stay with him and never come out. Have you been inside his house? "Mam, let’s not forget that he is the prince and a very dangerous and powerful man. I can do as I please in his house, let alone get inside there without him catching me. He would kill me and this." He kept blurring. Bloody coward. I couldn’t make out what he was saying at first, but something or other caught my attention, and literally everything came together. They are kissing at work? "Unless he is f**ing his employee. I said more to myself than to the person at the receiving end of the line. A smile creeped onto my face. "Mam?" "He is dating his employee. I proudly said, with no doubt, Thanks to our house’s gardener and the maid. "I don’t care how you get yourself inside his building or who you get to get inside information from, but I want it done. By the end of business tomorrow, I must know everything about floozy women. Do you understand?" "Yes, mam. Loud and clear, let me get to it. He said that and soon disconnected the call seconds later. I was left admiring my floor garden through the window, and a lot of thoughts were flowing inside my mind. I was mainly focused on my oleander. Have you ever taken time to look at this plant? It’s very beautiful and attractive; just by looking at it, you cannot tell how deadly it is. It is too innocent to be deadly. No one ever understood why I have oleander and rhododendrons in my garden; I don’t if they can’t see that they bring so much life and brighten the garden, besides the fact that I might share a few traits with them. They are quite tough plants; they survive toxic environments. I always get what I want and by that I mean ALWAYS. My father has made sure of that from a very young age, and now it’s up to me to make sure I still get everything that I want by myself. Whoever this woman is that Cosmo is in love with, sadly, won’t be alive to watch him get married to me. S**t. Cleo’s POV I still can’t believe what happened between us, and he basically asked for my heart. That means he loves me, right? Yes, it does. I still can’t let him in, not after what he did to me. But what if he moves on? Oh, f**k, this love thing is stupid. I need to call Mam Gladse and ask for advice; she is like a mother or friend to me. I took my phone and dialled her number, and she answered after two rings. "If it’s not my favourite ustomer," She answered delightedly. I can tell from the sound of her voice that she is smiling; she is so kind. Hi, my favourite baker. I giggled, and she did the same. "How are you? I haven’t seen you in a while." "I am good, ma, and how are you? I decided not to just overwhelm her with my issues. "I am good to my child, and the business is booming." "I am so glad; at the end of the day, your shop serves the best, so it has to boom. I genuinely said it was merely a fact. I kind of need your advice; it’s that time. I laughed when a memory came to mind when I was doing my last year in varsity. There was this guy that I was dating who was so persuasive that we have s*x. I was so angry that I kept talking about it to myself while at work. When she caught me, she gave me some advice and said that whenever it’s that time, I shouldn’t hesitate to ask her advice as she had so many men during her time, so she knew men like the back of her hand. She made me feel better. "Oh, who is he? What’s his story?" I broke down everything from the start until now; she was listening so attentively. You are aware of the fact that he loves you, right? She questioned, and her question made my heart skip a beat. I thought of it, but I really didn’t want to accept it because it would mean I was also in love with him. I don’t think I'm ready for that. "Even though he does the things he does?" "That’s when it’s real, my baby—him disputing his own feelings. She softly says: "So now what should I do?" "Since he hasn’t said anything after your last encounter, make him say something. I am not saying seduce him, but play the game, and that starts with your outfits."
