Hera
“Dad, how could you?” I said as I stormed into his office,
“Hera” he said looking shocked,
Never have i ever confronted my Dad, no matter the reckless decisions he makes I'm always there to support him but I've had enough,
“After I praised you for such a good work tonight, you're here displaying this uncouth attitude. What If my guests were still here?” He said angrily his nostrils flaring,
“Why are you doing this to me? I've always done all you've asked me to do without complaints, but time and time again you always look for a way to hurt me” I said my chest aching from sadness,
“I'm doing what's best for you can't you see? He said, “by being mated to Cyan we've secured a powerful ally,
“but I don't love him” I said tears filling my eyes
“Who cares about love? Don't be crass you are not a baby and life isn't a fairy tale, wake up!” he responded coldly,
“You only care about yourself and your image, appearances; that's all you care about. How could you just decide my mate all on your own? It's the responsibility of the Moon Goddess to bestow a mate upon someone unless the person's mate is dead but you chose to play God in my life” I retorted,
“You're so ungrateful! I'm trying my best to secure your future and the future of this pack and you're talking about Goddess given mates? You will get married to Cyan whether you like it or not” He finalized and walked out.
I dropped to the floor crying, I can't believe he would do this to me. I've done everything he has ever asked me to do but I can't continue living like this. I got up, wiped my face and squared my shoulders. I won't marry Cyan and I won't be used anymore even if it kills me. I left his office and headed to my room.
I woke up the next morning with only one goal in mind; I need to get a job today. My outfit of the day was a black corporate pants with a white button up shirt and my black loafers. I pulled my hair into a neat bun, grabbed my purse and my credentials and I was out the door. I didn't even bother to eat breakfast, I didn't have the appetite to eat anything after yesterday.
I spent my day moving from office to office submitting my C.V, but I was met with no vacancies here and there. Although I still managed to drop my C.V I knew that I didn't have to get my hopes up. Oh I chose the wrong day not to eat breakfast
“Hera” I heard accompanied by the honk of a horn, I turned to see someone I never would have expected to see,
“Come in,” the voice said, gesturing to me in the car. I stood to think about it for a minute, what do I have to lose right?
“Hi Lena” I said as I entered her car,
“How are you doing Dear?” She asked with a smile
“I'm doing okay” I replied,
“I can see you are stressed, let me guess you were going around submitting your C.V” she said amidst laughter,
“Is it that obvious?” I asked solemnly,
“I told you I would give you a job, didn't I?” She asked turning to me,
“Yes you did but I'm worried about the beef between our families” I said honestly,
“That doesn't matter at all” Lena said,
“Really?” I asked feeling very unsure,
“My office address is on the complimentary card I had, given to you” she said “Come by the office tomorrow by 9am let's talk about it, you can resume immediately if you like”
“I know that you're a bit sceptical and that's completely normal, think about it okay? You're a very smart young lady and that's exactly what I'm looking for in my organization”. She dropped me off as she finished speaking.
I hugged my file to my chest as I walked into the house, my thoughts scattered all over the place. My stomach grumbled aggressively as I walked slowly, battered by exhaustion.
“Hera, Love I've been waiting for you. You just walked out on me yesterday” dread mixed with irritation filled up my stomach at the voice I heard,
“Cyan, Hey” I said with my premium fake smile,
“Why did you leave yesterday?” He asked touching my face very lightly, “Come and sit here, you look pale
“I was overwhelmed” I said as I sat down and gestured the chef to fix me something to eat,
“It's normal to feel that way, most brides usually feel nervous before their wedding” he said gently,
“Do you believe in Goddess given mates?” I asked Cyan curiously,
“yes I do but I'm yet to be bestowed upon with my mate and I'm tired of looking for her. Besides, mom said we are perfect for each other” I listened to him with my mouth agape, I can't believe he just said that.
“I can't marry you, Cyan. You're a very nice guy but I don't want any one else except my Goddess given mate” I said to him slowly,
“You're joking, Hera. I'm very sure you are, I'm trying to make things easy for you but you're being unnecessarily difficult” he said coldly, “What do you think is special about you? You're just a regular random girl with no striking features, a plain jane let me add. I'm trying to give your life a meaning by securing an alliance with my pack and you're doing all this”
“woah woah, hold your high horse just who do you think you are?” I asked surprised at where all this is coming from,
“I'm not getting married to you period” I said standing up angrily,
“It's not up to you to decide Darling, you'll be the perfect little wife for me. When I want something I'm ready to go the extra mile to get it” he said authoritatively,
“f**k you” I said and walked out,
Well there goes my appetite.
