My Lover's Kingdom

I had a few problems with the exert. First, the hair is burgundy-colored, her eyes are a warm beach blue, not cold, and no evil lies behind these innocent eyes. This is a child, for goodness, sakes! Well, if I don't knit pick, one could say I look exactly like how the novel described. Although it's hard to believe, seeing everyone in weird medieval clothes with hints of modernity, my brothers, my father, the men fighting with swords and using magic…I had come to accept I was in another world but it being a book is something too far-fetched for even me to believe. I wanted to laugh it off, but I hurried to the desk in the room and opened the drawers to get a sheet of paper and a pen. Sadly, there were no pens or pencils, just a feather, and ink. Seriously, these people live in a world full of magic, but no one has invented a pen yet? Unbelievable.  Anyways, "My Lover's Kingdom" is a book series that takes on themes such as loss, war, trauma, friendship, and right in the middle of it, love. It revolves around the character Priscilla Coleman, a commoner who was born with holy magic. When she's adopted by a Baron, she moves to the Kingdom's capital to learn how to control her powers. Due to her unique powers, she creates a commotion in the noble community because she's the first person in over 100 years to be born with holy magic. The problem was that there's a legend that states that people with holy powers are born when a great disaster is about to happen. Although some thought of her as a savior, others thought of her as a bad omen.  There she meets a variety of handsome and rugged guys such as the Kingdom's Crown Prince, Jeremy Stoneshire, the son of the Captain of the Royal Knights, Liam Haddock; a magician's apprentice, Simon Ackerman; the son of a Count, Benjamin Heartfelt and the second prince of the Kingdom, Edgar Stoneshire.  Although I died before the series ended, there was talk that Prince Jeremy was endgame, but she shared sweet moments with all of them that you can't help but cheer for the other characters as well. In every romance novel, there has to be a rival, and Priscilla's opponent was none other than Mina Heartfelt, third child and only daughter of Count Heartfelt. Although the daughter of a Count, she was always looked down on because of her mother's status. Not only was her mother a commoner, but she was also a p********e that the Count had a one-night stand with. Because of this, Mina was always looked down on by the house staff. She was loathed by her brothers and neglected by her father. She was happy when Priscilla approached her with friendship in mind, but jealousy overtook her as she saw how people flocked to Priscilla while ignoring Mina herself. She started to hate Priscilla and soon after decided to destroy her. You could say Mina had an inferiority complex. But who can blame her? Priscilla came out of nowhere and managed to make nobles and the most desired men in the Kingdom like her, while Mina spent her life being hated as she yearned for affection. "Now, what was it that happened to Mina at the end?" I asked myself. Oh! Yes! Prince Edgar forms a coup d'état, and during the fighting, she tries to kill Priscilla, but she gets caught and is seen as a traitor of the nation. When the coup fails, she is publically executed along with everyone that took part in the coup. "That's right! I almost forgot about that plot twist; although Mina was thought to be the villain, the real villain was Edgar. He went chicken s**t crazy after Priscilla rejected him. He thought that the only way he could win her love was if he became King," I smiled as I remembered, but I quickly widened my eyes.  "Wait…Mina…is…executed…" I paused for a second, then I screamed. I guess everyone that wakes up in a different world does end up screaming in the end. No, I can't think about that. I have to go back to the problem at hand. Mina gets executed! And since I'm Mina, that means that I'm going to die!  I got a second chance at life, and now I find out I get executed. Why did I have to be reborn as an antagonist that suffers a horrible death? Why couldn't I be reborn as a minor character or, better yet, not even a character worth mentioning? Those are the best type of people one can be reborn as.  No, I don't have time to whine. I want to live until I'm an old granny, so I need to find a way to avoid dying. Avoid contact with the main characters.Run away from home and live as a commoner (I was already a commoner in my previous life)Get everyone here to acknowledge me as the lady of the house (if I can get my family to like me, they could protect me if anything goes wrong)The three options looked possible, but there were some drawbacks for each. As a character myself, avoiding the other characters might be impossible. If things go according to the novels, I will come in contact with the other characters whether I want to or not. Not to mention, Mina and her brother Benjamin are prevalent characters. I can't just avoid him since we live in the same house. Running away is easy; finding a way to live after the running is hard. I need money and a lot of it. Finding a job is not easy, and I also have to eat, bathe, and buy clothes. No one is going to hire someone that looks and smells like a garbage can. Getting acknowledged in this place will be hard. People here won't easily give in to my charms. Whether I play nice, smile, say good morning or ask about someone's day, I'm sure everyone will still look at me scornfully and talk behind my back. The worst drawback of all is that even if I manage to avoid my death, the fact that a coup might happen in the future still remains. Knowing that thousands of people would die made me feel like I have a responsibility to try and stop it. But how does one stop a coup that no one has thought of yet?
