Samantha’s POV.
Today actually went well, and it turns out Alec is smarter than I thought.
Despite the annoying comments here and there, Alec leaned in with keen interest, pointing at sheets, asking questions, and nodding where necessary. I ended today’s session with a little assignment from me.
“Thank you,” Alec said as I parked up my things ready to dash out. I didn’t want any chit chat with the very guy I was planning to dislike.
Startled I glared at him “For?”
“For this” he pointed to the papers on the table “for tutoring me, I don’t know” he rubbed the back of his head making him look boyish.
Something I found attractive for some reason.
I chuckled “I am doing this for me not you, what do you take me for”
He gave a small, humorless laugh then sighed “If I don’t get my grades up, I can’t play hockey anymore”
I froze, my smile slipping.
It wasn’t what I expected him to say. For a second, I didn’t know how to respond. I didn’t know if I should care. I wasn’t supposed to. But something about the way he said it unsettled me.
I rummaged through my bag pretending to look for something.
“Your house is oddly quiet, nobody stays around?” I gave a nervous giggle.
“My dad, he’s hardly around though, always busy” He walked towards me as he talked.
“I like it though, gives me enough time to do whatever I want” That annoying smirk was plastered on his face now.
I rolled my eyes and stacked my books up. “Good for you”
“You know,” he said leaning against the table “There is a party this weekend, I want you there, Sammy” he added.
“Me?” I scoffed “Why would you invite me”
He shrugged, grinning “Because you are my tutor”
“Yeah, that doesn’t sound suspicious at all.”
“Relax,” he said, the teasing edge in his voice unmistakable. “You could use a little fun. Maybe I’ll even let you buy me a drink and besides, your friend is coming.”
“Cassie?” i said, spinning around “she never mentioned anything about a party”
He raised a brow “You should ask her then”
I sighed “I can’t possibly come and I literally have nothing to wear to your rich kids' party”
He paused and stared for what could have been sixty seconds then finally he got up.
“Do you trust me?”
I narrowed my eyes “We both know I don’t, not even a bit”
He smirked “Come with me”
I stood there not trusting the feeling in my gut. I should just leave and go home now.
He stopped at the door and looked back “Well are you coming tutor girl ?”
Every instinct told me to say no. But the part of me that was tired of always saying no… made my feet move.
I didn’t have a choice, at least that is what I told myself.
I followed him around the back, we walked past a swimming pool, bright blue and as neat as ever which showed it was constantly cleaned.
A well and perfectly trimmed garden situated a good distance from it, the architect must have made a lot of money from this gig.
I could hear the dangling of keys as Alec walked in front of me.
Then finally he stopped at the garage. I watched as the garage door slid up.
He turned to me grinning.
“What? “Is that where you kidnap your tutors and lock them up?” I said, forcing a laugh, trying to sound casual.
“If I wanted to kidnap you,” he said slowly, stepping inside, “you wouldn’t even see it coming.”
I froze.
He laughed, like really laughed “You should see your face, Relax, Sammy. I’m kidding.
Then I notice a sleek, red sports car with glossy curves and sharp edges, gleaming under the light. A Lamborghini Huracán EVO.
But he didn’t walk over to it, he walked to the other edge of the garage and raised a black wrapper, throwing it aside to expose a Polished motorbike. Two helmets are placed on top of it.
I walked closer, my fingers brushing over the smooth, black paint. It was warm, like it had just been used.
“You drive this?” I asked, more to myself than to him.
“I do,” he said. “You impressed?”
“A little,” I admitted, and instantly regretted it.
“Careful, you sound like you might actually like me.”
He swung a leg over the bike in one smooth motion, like he’d done it a thousand times. The movement was annoyingly effortless.
I stared at him “Seems you are used to this”
“Used to?” he repeated, glancing at me with a wide grin as he reached for the helmet.
“Sweetheart, I own the road.”
The engine roared to life a second later. A deep, thrilling growl that vibrated through the walls and right into my chest. He revved it again, clearly on purpose, I could see his perfect set of teeth from behind the visor.
I folded my arms across my chest “You don’t expect me to get on that do you?”
He stretched the second helmet to me “You said you had nothing to wear. Let’s fix that, get in”
