Miss kay.

Alec’s POV It was an impulsive thought. One minute, I was inviting her to a party, another minute, I was in my garage gearing up my engine and waiting for her to climb in behind me. Now, we were on the road weaving through cars on a full throttle heading to wherever my bike took me. The sky was a bright blue and the weather was a chef's kiss. I fired the engine. “Whoa, careful” she yelled from behind me. I could feel her arms wrapped around me. Mostly because of how tight she held on to me. She was close. Too close. The heat from her body burned through my clothes despite the wind as we fired on. I grinned “Relax tutor girl, you are squeezing the air out of me” I could feel her body move with mine as I leaned into the curve, her chest brushing my back. The air between us felt alive. “Where are we going” she yelled, half laughing, half terrified. “You will see,” I said, turning the corner. “You know, you don't have to yell, I can hear you from over here” She giggled “Sorry, I just have never been on a speed bike before” “I figured” I turned another corner, the wind brushed past us. Her fingers pressed deeper into me as I accelerated. Her body brushed mine lightly, masking my spine stiffen. I shouldn’t have liked it as much as I did. I slowed down just enough to feel her breath on my skin, she leaned on me like she was comfortable. Silently taking in the view. A smile tugged at the corner of my lips. I was enjoying this a little too much. We sped through an intersection, and I caught our reflection in a passing car window. Her arms around me, her hair whipping against my shoulder. We looked like something out of a movie. I didn’t want the ride to end. Finally, I slowed down at a boutique. Miss Kay was displayed at the top of the large building. “We are here,” I said, cutting the engine and placing a leg down for support. “Miss Kay?” she said, slowly letting go of me “You are taking me to Miss Kay? Do you know how expensive this place is” I shrugged, pulling off my helmet and helping her out. “You only live once” She squinted her eyes “What is in it for you” I felt a sting that she thought of me in that light. I couldn't just do something nice without expecting. I faked a laugh “You talk about me like I am some jerk, Samantha” I didn't want her to answer, because in all sense i was. The way she lifted her chin and walked like she just remembered all of it. Made my chest hurt a bit. “Well, that's not far off from the truth,” she said, clutching her bag and walking towards the store. I followed behind her. The glass door slid open as we walked in. The place screamed money. Glass shelves, gold-rimmed mirrors, and mannequins draped in silk and sequins. A soft jazz tune hummed from hidden speakers, the kind you only hear in places that charge you for breathing. A few women strolled by, heels clicking against the marble floor, the type of women you only meet at a country club. A man and his wife I presumed and a lovely family walked by. “Hello,” a lady walked up to us waving and beaming with smiles “welcome to Miss Kay. How may I help you” Samantha’s lips parted like she was about to speak but I interrupted handing her my card. The lady’s tone changed the second she saw my name. “Of course, Mr. Bannister,” she’d said, Like people had been told to treat me differently all my life. “We want something that screams hot and s*xy” I winked at both women. “No we don't,” Samantha said, her eyes darting between me and the lady. The lady giggled “You are such a lovely couple” “Couple?… oh n..” I began. “Yuck, no we are not.” Samantha cut in. “She adores me” I mouthed to the lady cupping my mouth with my palms. She rolled her eyes “You wish” I leaned in towards the lady “Give us your finest please” “Right this way,” she said with a smile on her face like it was taped there. We followed her into a properly lit and furnished room. The smell of lavender and almond filled our nostrils. “You could have a seat here sir, while she tries on what we have” “Don't be scared Sammy, I am right here,” I said, relaxing into the red couch. She gave me a glare before disappearing behind the curtain with a handful of dresses. The assistant kept throwing me quick glances. I tapped my finger on my knee, pretending to scroll through my phone, but my head was a mess. I didn’t even know why I brought her here. Maybe I just wanted to see her expression when she realized she could look good in something that wasn’t oversized hoodies and jeans. And maybe I also feel some kind of guilt for the complete jerk I had been in high school. This is my way of making things right. I tell myself. The curtain shifted. “Okay, don’t laugh,” she said from inside. “I make no promises.” When she stepped out, my breath caught in my throat. The blue dress accentuated her small waist and hugged her just in the right places. “Oh my God, this is beautiful.” The lady said clasping her hands together. For a second, I forgot where we were. She looked nothing like the girl who used to avoid attention in class. She looked… like trouble I didn’t mind finding. The dress wasn’t even revealing. Just simple, blue, and clean. But it did something to her. Made her look softer, older, just different. “Well?” she asked, tugging at the hem. I tilted my head. “I said something hot, not illegal. You’re going to make people sin, tutor girl.” She snorted, crossing her arms. “You liar” “I might tell a joke but never a lie,” I said, leaning back with a grin. “But you should see yourself right now.” For a second, the teasing stopped and our eyes met, she stared right at me. Then she rolled her eyes and turned back toward the curtain. “I’m not wearing this to your stupid party.” I laughed quietly. “We’ll see about that.”
