“Lisa, your speculation about what they would do is remarkably accurate. Your stepmother and sister are truly a force to reckon with!” Camron looked at Lisa with a smile.

Lisa nodded and said confidently, “The mother and daughter had always been like this. It’s not a big deal. Now the juiciest news can finally be released.”

She stood up, stretched her back, and walked toward the room without looking back. “Camron, you must keep an eye on the news, or the impact of our next action would be subdued.”

At 3 am, in the wee hours of the morning, when almost everyone was sleeping soundly, fresh news about Lisa and Nico appeared online.

Firstly, Infamy Entertainments declared that Lisa Royce and Lisa DuPont were not the same person and immediately revealed that Lisa was the eldest daughter of the Royce family.

Thereafter, an anonymous person posted a grainy video but it was clear enough to identify Nico, who was wearing a high school cheerleader’s uniform and a ponytail. She wrapped her hands around a man’s neck while smoking what appeared to be a m*******a joint. In front of her was a girl with blond hair whose face was covered in mud and blood. The pathetic-looking girl was dragged by the feet and repeatedly kicked on her forehead by Nico.

Nico woke up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom. She casually checked her phone and saw the news notifications. She tapped on the link and saw this video. Her pupils constricted and a chill ran down her spine. She could not believe that this video of her bullying and smoking a joint was not posted online. She knew at that point that her dreams of becoming a famous actress came to an abrupt end.

Nico began to panic when she saw the torrent of negative comments and reviews on all of her social media accounts. Never in her wildest dreams did she expect that her efforts to discredit and interfere with Lisa would backfire spectacularly.

Her palms began to sweat and with her hands trembling helplessly, she called Rod.

“Rod... help me, please help me... You’re the only one who can help me now!” Rod, who was working, answered his beloved Nico’s phone call. When he heard her panicking voice, he immediately comforted her.

“What’s the matter, honey? Don’t panic, no one will hurt you. I’m here. I’ll protect you.”

“Oh, Rod! I knew that she always wants to ruin me! Lisa has been jealous of me because my father loved me more than her. I never thought that she would be so merciless to me. She even posted a scene from my stage acting and edited it to look like I was the one bullying and smoking a joint. Rod, you know me and know how kind I am. You believe me, don’t you? Everything that Lisa said about me were lies. You must not believe her. I know it’s my fault that I insisted on identifying her as my sister. I will not do that again... Rod, please help me. I really enjoy acting. Please!”

Rod glanced at the news and raised his eyebrows after seeing the joint statement issued by Infamy Entertainments and the Royce Group.

He was a businessman and he loved Nico. However, he could not bear the consequences of offending such a large and influential force in the entertainment industry just because of Nico. Initially, he thought that Nico was just having another one of her tantrums. When Nico insisted that Lisa was her sister when she denied it, it had already unsettled the Royce Group. Now some videos proved her flawed character and yet she continued to accuse Lisa of framing her.

Rod frowned as he remembered the girl who had lived with him for over a year and never raised her voice to him. He always felt that even if someone wanted to frame Nico, the person who released the video would never be Lisa who appeared meek and compassionate.

“Nico, honey, please calm down. Perhaps the videos you saw were not posted by Lisa... We already met when you were in high school, and at that time, Lisa was just a little girl in middle school. I know that person in the video is definitely not you. Additionally, you were never in a cheerleading team. Don’t worry, I will help you resolve this, okay? Nico, don’t worry, I will protect you.”

“Rod, are you speaking out for her? You’re favoring her now, aren’t you? Okay, I get it.”

Rod did not know what Nico meant by saying that she “get it”. She had already hung up the call when he wanted to clarify with her. When he called her back, she had already turned off her cell phone in anger.

Nico picked up another phone and dialed a number. “Go find that person. Give him enough money to do it and then shut him up, you know what I mean.”

Lisa, who was currently back on the set to continue filming, had no idea what kind of games Nico was playing.

Drute arranged for a makeup artist to provide Lisa with a new outfit and look. He patted her shoulder and said, “Thank you, Lisa. Once you’re ready, let’s finish filming the car accident scene and we’ll be done for the day.”

In the far corner of the set, no one noticed a sneaky figure approaching the prop car.

Soon, Lisa was ready and they began to film the car accident scene.

“And... Action!” Under the director’s command, Lisa crossed the road while the lead actor drove the car and accelerated toward Lisa.

“Get out of the way! Lisa! Watch out!!” The actor shouted from the driver’s seat. “Get out of the way! The brakes of this car are malfunctioning!”

Despite the warning, the car had already accelerated to a significant speed and was so close to Lisa that she could barely dodge away safely. Just as the car was about to hit her, she managed to roll back but the bumper of the car still managed to clip her arm and broke it.

She winced in pain as everyone on the set ran toward her. The on-set paramedic quickly responded and assured her that it was a clean fracture. As Lisa sat on the gurney, she smiled and comforted the director who was distraught by the incident. “Drute, it’s not a big deal. Isn’t it common for actors to get injured on set? Please don’t blame yourself.” She looked up at the prop car that couldn’t slow down and crashed into the barrier. Even the lead actor was slightly hurt when the airbags were deployed. Her eyes narrowed suspiciously.

“However, I’ll need to ask you to instruct the guards to secure the scene. I think that this is no accident. My cousin will be sending someone over to investigate. Don’t worry, it won’t delay the filming schedule.”

Lisa was resting on the hospital bed when she received a video call from her cousin.

“We found out that it was two crew members on the set who had tampered with this car before the accident. This was masterfully done. What either one of them did to the car would not have caused the malfunction. It required both of them who did they part would the brakes fail.”

Camron appeared very upset during the call. “The problem is they swore that they only did their individual part and did not know what the other did. So, even if we report them to the police, there was no hard evidence that they were responsible for the accident.”

Lisa nodded calmly as she had already guessed who would do this to her. She knew that it was Nico who was always very good at covering her tracks.

At this moment, Nico held Rod’s waist and sobbed. “Rod, you have to believe me, I really didn’t mean to... I was so angry that I lost my mind... I just wanted her to suffer a bit... why would I want to kill her? After all, she’s my sister...”

Rod could not bear to criticize her as she was already crying sorrowfully. He gently stroked her head and comforted her. “Okay, I believe in you. You didn’t mean to... It’s just that Lisa was hurt quite badly this time. I’ll help you clear up the mess. You promise me that you won’t attack her again without reason in the future.”

“Rod, don’t tell me that you just realized that the woman that you like is the one who disappeared 5 years ago?” Nico looked fearfully at him.

“How could it be? I just don’t want us to offend the Royce Group unnecessarily, otherwise, there may be unbearable consequences in the future. I had already given enough money to those two who rigged the car. Don’t worry, even if they get imprisoned for several months, they won’t reveal your involvement in this.”

Nico hid in Rod’s embrace and grinned secretly. She knew that as long as she remained soft and in need of his protection, Rod would find a way to fulfill all her demands.

Rod frowned slightly and pondered as he held onto Nico’s slender waist. He always thought that Nico was the gentler and kinder sibling. When she was a child, he even had to bandage her like an injured bunny. Was she really capable of hurting another person out of jealousy?

At that moment, Lisa was sitting on the hospital bed eating the slices of apples that her cousin had cut for her. Her son, Henry, sat on one side of the sofa with his precious computer on his lap. He frowned and kept trying to swat away his mother’s hand who was constantly trying to mess up his hair.
