What they were told by the police dashed their hopes.

“Officer, why isn’t the evidence sufficient? My sister, Nico DuPont, clearly hired this person to kidnap me! This was what the kidnapper told me!”

The police officer shook his head and said apologetically, “I’m sorry, Miss DuPont. Although the suspect’s confession did mention Nico, the police need hard evidence to arrest the person. The phone number and mailing address that the suspect provided could not be linked to Nico.”

Lisa was flabbergasted but this was a dead end. Lindsay helped the stunned Lisa out of the police precinct. They sat in the car in silence for a long time. Finally, Lindsay grasped the steering wheel firmly and said, “Lisa, leave this city now so that you can give birth to your child safely.”

Lisa asked helplessly, “Leave here? My father, family, and husband are all in this city... where can I go?”

“Come to Randall City with me. I have a distant aunt there. There are many well-equipped health retreats in that town. You will be taken good care of there.”

Lindsay’s idea was perfect. Lisa spent a very relaxed and carefree period in this charming little town by the seaside. She lived with Aunt Emma, who has a cheerful personality, had friendly neighbors, and there was a constant sea breeze at her seafront cottage. The pleasant environment was very conducive to recuperation and Lisa had already set aside all the unhappy thoughts that Rod and Nico had caused.

On that day, Aunt Emma went out to sea, and Lisa, whose baby bump was getting increasingly larger, chose to stay at the cottage to rest. Lisa was watering the tulips in the backyard when she heard a voice that made her heart sink.

“Lisa, my dearest daughter, you really made it easy for me to find you!” said Britney, her annoying stepmother.

Clang, Lisa’s watering can fell to the ground. Her face turned pale with fear when she saw Britney walking into the backyard.

“Mom... how... how did you find me?”

Britney casually pushed open the wooden fence and walked into the garden, picked a tulip, and began to pluck its petals off it. “Lisa, you underestimate the abilities of the Franklins and the DuPonts.” She glanced at Lisa’s bulging belly and said, “Tsk tsk tsk, I thought that I could take you back and directly perform surgery for my Nico. Why are you still carrying a baby, you annoying b***h?”

Lisa instinctively covered her belly with her hands to protect her child. She took a step backward and said firmly, “What do you intend to do?! You will not harm my child! not allowed to harm my child! Over my dead body!”

“Oh, Lisa, don’t keep using death to threaten me. You need to remain strong and healthy so that my precious Nico can have your kidneys. You can die after that for all I care! After the abortion, we’ll still have to let you recuperate for six months before we can do the transplant. How annoying!”

Lisa stepped back several steps and leaned against the fence, “No... impossible! This is Rod’s flesh and blood! I will tell him about it and he will never agree to abort this child!”

“Ha! Lisa, are you still so naïve? Don’t you know that Rod has always been using you to prepare the kidneys for Nico? He’s with Nico every day and will not be bothered about you or your bastard baby. Who knows who the father of the child is?”

“Impossible! I don’t believe it! Even if he doesn’t love me, I don’t believe that he would allow his child to be killed!”

“Lisa, my good daughter. Who do you think leaked the news about you being here? It’s Rod. If he wanted to save the baby, why would he tell me about where you are?”

“He knows about the baby?” Lisa’s eyes lit up. So, Rod would definitely agree for her to give birth to their child before the kidney transplant. In this case, even if she was brought back, she might still have opportunities to escape.

“Baby? When Nico gets your kidneys and gets back to the pink of health, they can have as many babies as they want. Rod was the one who decided to send me to abort your child!” Britney lied. Rod did not know and now she had to quickly abort Lisa’s baby before Rod found out and changed his mind.

She waved her hand and two men came into the backyard. One of them was Franklin’s family doctor who she had encountered on numerous occasions. She could see the other man carrying a dedicated medical kit. “Rod had personally instructed Dr. Horace to come with me. Once we get to the yacht, he will give you a complete medical examination.”

Dr. Horace was not very familiar with the reasons for the abortion. He just did what he was told as he thought that Nico would eventually become the new Mrs. Franklin. “Lisa, please cooperate to minimize any problems.”

“No!” Lisa threw whatever she could get her hands on at them. “Don’t you touch me! Emma will be back soon and she’ll call the police!”

“You mean that ugly old lady? I hope her boat doesn’t develop a leak! Do you think that she will be willing to fight the ten men who had been paid in advance to capture her?” Britney gloated.

Lisa’s heart sank and felt a knot in her stomach. “You... you mean... that you even hired people to kidnap Aunt Emma?! You bastards! You scumbags!”

Britney shook her head and chuckled like a villain. “Lisa oh Lisa. Get a grip, will you? What happened to your kind and gentle temperament of yours? Since you are so concerned about her, I’ll ensure that nothing happens to her if you do as you’re told. Otherwise, we’ll make sure she disappears without a trace!”

Lisa’s eyes were filled with despair and hatred but she was helpless to do anything. She definitely could not run in her current condition. She lowered her head and shoulders in resignation and said, “Okay, you win. Wait for me to pack up my things and I’ll go with you. Please don’t hurt Aunt Emma.”

Back in her room on the second floor, Lisa thought of what Britney had just said about Rod instructing her to abort the child quickly so that Nico could have a transplant surgery as soon as possible. She felt disheartened. She hastily wrote two letters for Aunt Emma and Lindsay respectively and placed them on the desk. She was ready to go with her captors.

Britney sat leisurely on the sofa in the yacht twirling the champagne in the glass. She sipped and grinned, pleased that she had achieved the objective of this trip.

“Ma’am, Lisa said that she is feeling seasick and wishes to have a room with a window.” One of the maids reported.

“Let her have it. She won’t be around for long anyway!” Britney instructed as she thought about how Nico would soon have Lisa’s kidneys and be back to the pink of health.

Lisa remained calm as she sat in the room. After Britney’s bodyguards left the room, she carefully took out a Swiss Army knife and cut the rope that bound her hands and feet. The window was very close to the deck, and although the window was small, there was a larger viewing window that could be cut along the rubber seals.

She had not completely lost her will to survive. She secretly wore a high-performance diving suit under her baggy sportswear and stuffed Aunt Emma’s Swiss Army knife into the cuffs of the suit.

Soon, night fell and the moonlight shone on the calm sea. Lisa cut through the rubber seals and removed the glass panel. She slowly climbed onto the deck. A bodyguard on the deck spotted her and yelled, “Who goes there?”

Lisa’s long golden hair was blown up by the sea breeze. By the time the bodyguard saw who it was, she had already climbed over the railing at the edge of the deck. The bodyguard blew the whistle and the other guards were rushing over. A maid also went to inform Britney.

Britney, dressed in her nightgown, hurried over and saw Lisa sitting on the railing.

“Britney, you and Nico want my kidneys so badly, don’t you? Not just the kidneys, but other aspects as well, like my husband?” Lisa said sarcastically.

She leaned toward the sea with her hands barely holding onto the rails. “I won’t give them to you, I won’t give them to Nico! Since you want to kill my child and remove my kidneys, then I will leave this world with my child and my kidneys! I’d rather be eaten by the sharks than give them to you!”

After saying that, Lisa leaned forward and released her grip. Britney’s eyes widen in disbelief as she saw Lisa fall into the dark water below.

Splash! She entered the water with a big splash but did not surface thereafter.

“s**t! You fools!! What are you waiting for?! Go down and save her!” Britney was not concerned about saving Lisa. It was her kidneys that she was worried about. Britney panicked the moment Lisa jumped into the dark sea below.

The bodyguards looked at each other and took off their suits and jumped into the water. However, they were not strong swimmers or professional search and rescue personnel. After swimming around and being unable to find Lisa, they quickly returned to the yacht.

After more than two hours of searching around the area, they still could not locate Lisa. Even if Lisa had drowned, if they could retrieve her body and harvest her kidneys in time, they could still be used for the transplant. However, all their efforts were in vain. Britney certainly did not expect that the usually timid Lisa would jump into the dark sea and swim quietly toward the shore.

“Wake up! Wake up! The lady has woken up!”

Lisa slowly opened her eyes to the commotion. The bright and warm sun rays and the doctor’s white coat glared into her eyes and she closed them again.

“Thanks for saving me... and my child!” Lisa was suffering from hypothermia and was very weak.

“You are very lucky to be spotted by a fisherman. You and your baby are fine. Don’t worry. Just rest!” A female doctor said reassuringly.

In the other corner of the room, a tall and handsome doctor took out his cell phone and dialed a number after carefully looking at Lisa several times, “Yes, this girl looks just like my aunt, and her last name is Royce...”
