Elite wedding planner Audrey Thompson thought she'd buried her past when she walked away from Gabriel Monroe two years ago. But when she's hired to orchestrate the Christmas Eve wedding of the year at a luxurious Swiss Alps resort, she discovers her client is the man who still owns her heart. The groom? Gabriel himself. Gabriel is marrying Vanessa Sterling, a beautiful socialite who seems perfect on paper. What he doesn't know is that Vanessa hired Audrey specifically to torture them both, fully aware of their painful history. As Audrey navigates floral arrangements and seating charts, she's hiding two devastating secrets: she's carrying Gabriel's child from a reckless night three months ago, and his father threatened to destroy her career if she didn't disappear from Gabriel's life. With only seven days until the wedding, Audrey must maintain her professional mask while her heart shatters with every vow she helps write, every dance she choreographs. But when an avalanche traps the wedding party in the resort with no escape, secrets begin to surface, true intentions are revealed, and Audrey faces an impossible choice: protect the man she loves by staying silent, or risk everything for a chance at the happiness she thought she'd lost forever. In a world of billion-dollar deals and society expectations, can love survive betrayal, manipulation, and the cruelest obstacle of all—the truth?

Chapter 1: The Unexpected
The email arrived at 11:47 PM on a Tuesday, and I almost deleted it thinking it was spam. The subject line read: "Wedding Commission - Confidential Client - Six Figure Budget." I'd seen similar headlines before, usually from scammers or people who had no idea what wedding planning actually cost. But something made me click. Maybe it was desperation. My business account had exactly three thousand dollars in it, barely enough to cover next month's office rent. I read the email twice, then a third time, certain I was misunderstanding. The client wanted a full-service wedding planned in seven days. Christmas Eve ceremony at the Alpine Château Resort in the Swiss Alps. Budget: two million dollars. Non-negotiable timeline. Absolute discretion required. The planning fee alone was fifty thousand dollars, with the full amount paid upfront. My hands shook as I reached for my phone. "Nina, are you awake?" I said when my assistant answered. "I am now." Her voice was groggy. "This better be good." "I just got offered a two million dollar wedding." Silence. Then: "I'm coming over." Twenty minutes later, Nina sat on my apartment couch, reading the email on my laptop. Her eyes grew wider with each line. "This is insane," Nina said. "Seven days? Christmas Eve? Switzerland?" "I know." "The fee is more than we made all year." "I know." "It could save your business." I closed my eyes. I'd been avoiding this conversation with Nina for weeks, but my assistant wasn't stupid. Enchanted Moments was dying. Slowly, mysteriously, but definitely dying. Six months ago, we'd been booked solid through the next year. Then cancellations started. Clients who'd seemed thrilled suddenly found other planners. Reviews appeared online claiming I was unprofessional, unreliable. None of it was true, but the damage was done. "Do you think it's real?" I asked. Nina scrolled down. "There's a contract attached. It looks legitimate. The law firm is Hendricks and Associates. I've heard of them. They handle high-profile clients." "Read the confidentiality clause." Nina found it, read aloud: "The planner agrees to absolute discretion regarding client identities until given express permission to disclose. Breach of confidentiality will result in immediate termination and legal action." "They won't even tell me who the couple is until I sign." "That's weird." "That's rich people." Nina looked at me. "You're going to take it." "I have to." We worked until three in the morning, building lists and packing samples. I tried to focus on logistics, but my mind kept spinning. Two million dollars. Seven days. Christmas Eve. What kind of couple planned a wedding in seven days? The flight to Zurich left at six PM the next evening. The first-class cabin was almost empty. I sank into a seat that felt more like a bed, accepted champagne from a flight attendant, and finally let myself breathe. I reviewed the contract on my laptop. The wedding would take place at the Alpine Château Resort, a five-star property in the Swiss Alps known for hosting royalty and celebrities. The guest list was limited to one hundred and fifty people. The ceremony would be outdoors if weather permitted, with a backup plan in the resort's grand ballroom. The couple wanted elegant, romantic, and unforgettable. I pulled up photos of the resort on my phone. It was stunning. Stone and timber architecture, floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking snow-covered mountains, crystal chandeliers. The perfect setting for a Christmas wedding. Somewhere over the Atlantic, I fell asleep. I dreamed of snow and white roses, of a ceremony under winter stars. I woke to the flight attendant's gentle touch on my shoulder. "We're beginning our descent into Zurich." Below, the Alps rose like giants, their peaks covered in snow that glowed in the dawn light. Beautiful and intimidating. The landing was smooth. I cleared customs, collected my luggage, and found a driver holding a sign with my name. The car was a Mercedes, black and spotless. The drive to the resort took two hours, winding through mountain roads that made my stomach flip. Forests thick with snow-covered pines, valleys dotted with chalets, frozen waterfalls clinging to cliff sides. Finally, the Alpine Château appeared. It was even more impressive in person. The building seemed to grow out of the mountain itself, stone walls blending with the rock face, peaked roofs heavy with snow. Warm light glowed from hundreds of windows. It looked like something from a storybook. A doorman in a crisp uniform opened my car door. "Welcome to Alpine Château. Ms. Thompson?" "Yes." "They're expecting you. Your room is ready, but Ms. Montgomery asked that you come to the events office first. She'll brief you on the wedding details." I followed him through a lobby that took my breath away. Vaulted ceilings, timber beams, a fireplace large enough to stand in. A Christmas tree at least twenty feet tall dominated the center, decorated with crystal ornaments and white lights. The events office was down a hallway lined with photographs of past weddings. I glimpsed elegant ceremonies, happy couples, stunning tablescapes. My anxiety eased slightly. The doorman knocked on a heavy wooden door. "Come in," a woman's voice called. The office was cozy with another fireplace, leather furniture, and windows overlooking the mountains. A woman in her fifties stood from behind a desk, smiling warmly. "You must be Audrey. I'm Claire Montgomery, the resort's head wedding coordinator. Welcome." We shook hands. Claire's grip was firm. "Thank you. The resort is beautiful." "We're glad you're here. I know the timeline is unusual, but we're prepared to support you in every way." "I appreciate that. Can you tell me about the couple?" Claire's smile tightened slightly. "They'll tell you themselves. They're waiting in the Blue Room. But first, let me prepare you. This situation is somewhat delicate." My stomach dropped. "Delicate how?" "The bride specifically requested you. By name. The groom was less enthusiastic about the choice." "I don't understand. Have I worked with them before?" "Not exactly." Claire walked to the window, looking out at the mountains. "The bride is Vanessa Sterling. Does that name mean anything to you?" I searched my memory. "The Sterling family? The political strategists?" "Yes. Vanessa is very connected, very ambitious. She's marrying Gabriel Monroe." The world tilted. I grabbed the edge of Claire's desk, my vision blurring. I couldn't breathe. Couldn't think. Gabriel. Gabriel Monroe. The man I'd loved and left two years ago without explanation. The man I'd been trying to forget every day since. The man whose face I still saw when I closed my eyes. Gabriel was getting married. And I was planning his wedding.
