The alarms blared through the speakers. It woke us all. “Students wake up and get ready for tonight.” The headmistress declared.
“What’s going on?” Audrey asked. We didn’t have a clue either.
“Tonight is the Enchantress Anniversary.” Right. “The day the Alyuses found the Enchantress.”
“Meaning we can see the true heir of the Enchantress” What? This can’t be happening. No, no, no. My identity can’t be revealed. I felt Cyfrin’s gaze shift towards me, he knows what I’m thinking.
“This can’t happen.” I blurted at Cyfrin when we entered the balcony of our room. “I should hide tonight but won’t they suspect me?”
“I will make up some excuse.” Cyfrin thought of.
The night came, I hid at the Forbidden Library to keep my identity hidden. I don’t know how it was supposed to be revealed. Will a light shine on me or something? All I know is if they find out who I am, I might get kicked out of school or worse people kill me.
Cyfrin called me to let me know what was happening.
The Head Mistress placed a large dusty, rusty weird-looking mirror with veins at its sides at the center of the main hall and chanted some spell, which made the mirror glow a shining blue light.
And then it revealed a door.
The door to the Forbidden Library.
Fortunately, someone other than me was not there at the main hall. She passed by the door and they all thought she was the heir of the enchantress. I don’t know if I should be relieved or worried. Relieved that they didn’t find out it’s me, or worried that that person will get kicked out and have her life in danger.
Another thing to think about before going to sleep, just great.
A few moments have passed, Cyfrin went to see me and tell me that it’s over. They caught the girl who they thought was me and kicked her out and hid her somewhere safe.
I don’t know what to feel, honestly.
I’m safe, for now, but soon, not really.
The next night came, everything felt heavier than usual, and the usual was really heavy. While Zara, Audrey, and I were walking to our class, the headmistress approached us. We immediately stopped talking.
“Ms. Calypso, someone requested for me to give you this,” she said while handing me a small piece of paper.
I unfolded it slowly and inside was a note.
‘I know it’s you’. I froze. Who sent me this? What does this person know about me? Is this person an enemy or an ally?
Later that night, I woke up with a headache. I don’t know why but when I looked at the mirror my eyes were glowing. I quickly locked myself in the bathroom to try to turn the necklace off, but there’s no use. You can’t just turn it off as if it’s a light bulb or something. My headache got stronger, hurting badly, then I stumbled backward.
“Are you okay?” Audrey.
“I’m fine.”
“You don’t sound fine.”
“I said I’m fine!” My eyes glowed brighter, my powers getting stronger.
“Orphic. Open the door!” Cyfrin.
“No. Don’t come inside.”
My eyes returned back to normal, and my headache was gone.
What happened? Why did my necklace suddenly behave like this? I need answers. I don’t know anything about this necklace.
As the morning came, I waited for everyone to fall asleep. I used an invisibility power so that no one would catch me, not even Cyfrin.
I went to the Forbidden Library and all I saw was books about the most powerful families, and spells. Not until I found the book about the most powerful weapons and artifacts. There I saw the Enchantress. I skimmed through the words and found it: ‘Important Notes’.
It said ‘If the necklace starts losing control that means it senses danger whenever they come close to the owner.’
So that time during our sorcery class and yesterday, someone trying to kill me is here.
