Chapter 6

1941 Words
A few nights passed, I didn’t show up to class because of what I had learned about the necklace. So far, it hasn't lost control again since that night. Audrey and Zara asked about it and I just said, I was sick; Cyfrin didn’t believe it though. “Open the door.” Cyfrin. I opened the door and there he was staring at me suspiciously. “You can’t fool me.” He started. “You are as healthy as a horse. It’s impossible for you to get sick” Oh. What excuse would I make up now? I should probably tell him. “I was not feeling well, mentally, I meant. You know a lot of things are bothering me, I can’t have another thing bother me more.” Or not. I know he still didn't believe it still, but he accepted it, he knew something was off and didn’t want to push me in telling him. After he left, I took out the book about the most powerful things and decided to learn more about the Enchantress. ‘If someone other than the owner dares to touch the Enchantress, it will curse them’. I’m the chosen one. That’s why my parents want me to go here. To learn more about the necklace. About spells, my abilities and to look for him. One problem out of like a thousand, my grandma didn’t tell me who is ‘him’. That’s it. I will no longer hide in this room. I will train more and be ready when danger strikes. I went to Cyfrin and Blake’s room to tell them my plan. We also looked for Audrey and Zara. We all went to the auditorium and warmed up for the training. First, I set up obstacles for them. I taught Audrey and Blake first as they don’t know anything about fighting; Audrey couldn’t catch up that much but was still good because of her gymnastics classes before. Meanwhile, Blake was getting the hang of it. I was more strict to them than the other two because they don’t have powers. “Again,” I demanded. Next, Cyfrin and Zara trained with an advantage, of course their powers, but after a while, I prohibited them from using their powers because they can’t depend on them forever because what if the enemies block our abilities? Cyfrin didn’t need much training because I already trained him before. A few hours later, we started with the real fight. I battled with them all at the same time. I tried to use the Guillotine choke on Blake but he got a hold of me then kicked me so hard, I fell to the ground and could barely feel my arm. He’s good. Zara tried to use the Flying Knee but I quickly dodged it and instead hit Cyfrin. Audrey used the Spinning Back Kick on me but instead hit Blake. Training went for hours that the sun was already shining and the others were already sleeping. I hate to admit it but I liked it when we were training, I feel like I can trust them all, I like our bond together. I think I can actually call them my friends. “What are you doing here?” The head mistress caught us. “We were just training, ma’am.” Zara answered. “Training for what?” “If something goes wrong, we’ll be prepared.” “That’s good.” “Anyway, Ms. Calypso, someone wants to give you this. I don’t know who this person is, I just found it on my table.” Another note. I slowly unfold the note. “Meet me at the East Tower at Midnight, come alone.” I froze. Who is sending me these notes? Midnight came, I did what the person told me. I want to know who it was and why they’re sending me these notes. As I climbed up the East Tower, I saw a tall man with a black cloak his head towards the ground so that I could not see his face. “Who are you?” I demanded. “What do you want from me?” He revealed his face. A chill was sent down through my spine. Luke. “What do you want?” “I don’t want anything.” “Then why do you want me to meet you?” “I know it’s you.” What? “You’re an Alyus.” “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” “It’s getting hard to play innocent. Just admit it.” I will not. No one can know who I am. “I’m not an enemy, I swear. I’m here to help you.” “Let me introduce myself formally.” “I am Luke Seraphine.” He’s the one. The one my parents want me to look for. “Okay,” I sighed “How did you know it’s me?” Luke 12 years ago A girl was crying alone in the rain, sitting on a swing in a playground. I walked towards her and sat on the swing beside her. "Why are you crying?" I asked. "My family died because of me." She sobbed. "I don't know what happened, but I'm sure it's not your fault," I tried to comfort her. "I have no one now" "Don't worry, I'm here now. I'll be your friend." I smiled at her. "I'm Luke. What about you?" "I'm Orphic," she said "Your necklace is cool." "Thanks. It's called the Enchantress. My mom gave it to me because she said it's one of the most powerful things in the world. It was once hers.” "That's so awesome!" “What about you? Where’s your family?” “They’re also dead. Just a week ago.” Evil people killed them. I’m the only one that survived. “I’m sorry.” “It’s not your fault. 8 years ago "No, please!" Orphic cried. "No, please let me stay with Orphic!" A lady from an orphanage was trying hard to separate us but we tried harder to stay by each other's sides. "I'm sorry but you two must go to the Orphanage." She explained. "We will take good care of you both, don't worry." Shock was written all over her face when I suddenly pushed her and shouted. "Run!" I let the orphanage take care of me until I was 18 and could live on my own. 2 weeks ago The Headmistress announced the Enigmatic Dance which happens every year to honor the academy's anniversary. I volunteered for Orphic and I to be one of the dancers. I wanted to talk to her about the Enchantress. I know people are haunting her for it. Mission successfully failed, I guess. When we were rehearsing for the dance, we were awkward. I have to admit, I was nervous to see her again. It seems like she does not recognize me. The mentor told us to stop and she got partnered with Cyfrin. A chance to talk to her disappeared, sigh. 4 days ago "Class, Calm down." The professor exclaimed as the class was in chaos. "Control your powers!" But of course with all the commotion going around, they can't. Then, I saw her. Orphic. Her eyes glowing a bright purple. I must talk to her about this, ASAP. Orphic Present “They already know that the Seraphines and the Alyus are connected. They think by killing my parents, they’ll find out who is the chosen one.” “Be cautious. No one can know you’re an Alyus, alright? Not even your friends. You can’t trust anybody here, but me.” “I know. I won’t tell them who you are too. You can also trust me in keeping secrets.” I returned to my room and saw Cyfrin at the door. “I saw the note.” “Yeah, and?” “You should’ve talked to me first before going.” “Why would I?” Why is he so upset? It’s not like he’s my bodyguard or something. “Because I- I’m your friend. I know who you are. What if that person is setting a trap for you, huh? What if he’s a Waldrom? I don’t want you getting hurt.” Concern much? I have no obligation to report to him where I’m going or what. I don’t care if he wants to protect me. I can protect myself. I don’t need anybody. “I don’t need you.” I sighed. He froze. “Now, go back to sleep.” I went inside and laid down on my bed feeling lighter because I found a Seraphine, someone I can actually trust and my compliance. I think I was too harsh on Cyfrin last night, I guess I was just shocked on how he reacted so I said some things I wasn’t supposed to say. He avoided me at Enchantment class today, I think he’s still upset with me. I’m not going to apologize though. I have nothing to be sorry about, it’s true that I don’t need him. Luke sat beside me during class and I can feel Cyfrin’s cold look towards us. Luke passed me a note under the table then left. ‘Does Cyfrin know?,’ it said. I looked at Luke and shook my head. I lied. As class ended, I tried to talk to Cyfrin again. “Hey, so can you come with me to—” “Go with Luke” he cut me off. I don’t know why he’s acting like that? Anyway, that doesn’t matter now. What matters is learning more about my abilities and the Waldroms. I need to talk to my grandma again. If Cyfrin doesn’t want to come with me, I’ll just go alone. I teleported to the cave once again. I tried to go back to where me and my grandma talked, but she’s nowhere to be found. I heard footsteps approaching. I thought it was grandma, but no. “Who’s there?” I raised my hand ready to fight. “Hey, hey, relax it’s me.” Luke. “What are you doing here?” “You disappeared from the academy again. I followed your magic.” What? He can do that? “How did you do that?” “I told you, Seraphine and Alyus are connected.” “That means, I can track you too?” He nodded. The cave suddenly shook. What’s happening? I saw my grandma but this time something was wrong. Her eyes were pure black, as if someone was controlling her. “Run.” she said weakly. But before we could run, a c***k opened underneath the cave, a staircase leading to a blue light. Should I follow it? Or should I run? I went with the first one. It feels like it was calling me. “Orphic! Where are you going?” I ignored him and continued walking downstairs. It’s as if someone was controlling me. Luke followed me quickly. “What is that?” It was a chamber with symbols. Weirdly, I recognize it, and can read it. ‘The Alyus’ territory.’ So this is where I should be hiding then. We heard footsteps approaching, I looked at Luke who was already looking at me, raising his hands, ready to fight. “Orphic.” it said. “Who are you?” A girl appeared. A girl who looks like me, not exactly but somehow looks like me. She is wearing a necklace. A necklace that looks like mine. “I’m Morgana” Morgana. I thought she was dead. I came up to her quickly and hugged her. My sister.
